Hello, I had just recieved the new redesign of Firefox on my system and so far I am loving every bit of it.
However, I am a person that frequently opens many, MANY tabs and likes to keep them organized by draging them around on the tab bar. Since the new redesign I can no longer move my tabs around or open new windows by detaching tabs. Is this on purpose and supposed to have been a "feature" with the redesign? I have tried reinstalling firefox as well without success in fixing the issue.

Would love to just go back to my old browser look, but if not, is there a way to: 1) Not have the "floating" tabs? In other words, have the tab outlines clearly showing? 2) I find it very annoying to see the "PLAYING" constantly popping-up in my tab when playing solitaire. Is there a way to disable that?

I think this happens routinely. Can the Mozilla people prevent the problem in the first place? How can I tell the angst they cause their users? I see others begging for help with this problem.

I don't know if I'm the only one who used this feature, but when I opened a new tab I could just drop some copied text in there, go to another tab do something, then go back to that new tab where the text was copied, take the copy once more from the bar and go back to the previous tab. The text in the new tab didn't disappear all the time when new tab was "opened". Currently in version 89.0 this functionality disappeared and when I change from new tab to other tab text from the "search bar" disappear, the funniest thing is this functionality saved me a lot of time because I didn't have to play with any notepad or anything to store copied things. Is there any option to bring it back?

Hi, I use a PC under W7.
with FF88, the zone of the activated/unused tabs was above the screen, below the listed tabs bar (like in the snapshot).
With FF89, this zone is now empty (background in blue in the snapshot) and only the active tab appears below the window (on the right down in the snapshot for the current tab).
It makes FF simply unusable ! Need your help to come back to a normal situation : all tabs in the blue bar where they were.
thanks a lot for your help. Regards, Philippe

Hello, I would like to use the search function in the tab again. How can I adjust this? At the moment it is so that when you enter it it appears right above in the link line (see picture). I would like it to be in the search below, directly in the tab. Before version 88 this was possible. Why was it removed?

In version 89 running on windows there is no "options" setting in the three bar file. Previously I had things running so that if I opened a new window it came up with my chossen browser (Startpage). Now if I do that it opens a new tab instead of a window and does so in Firefox. So then I try to find "options" but its not there. So I go to settings and it offers me an option to open in tabs instead of new windows. Implication is that the default is a new window. SO I make sure thats not ticked and I close firefox and reopen it. No difference. Then I come at it the other way ie to tell the tab to despay my home page but it wont let me do that either. Choices there are only a blank page or (yes you guessed it) Firefox. All help gratefully recieved.

Hi,
I'm using Firefox 89.0 (64 bit) on Lubuntu OS via Mozilla Firefox for Ubuntu Canonical - 1.0.
Despite selecting Restore previous session in settings, and quitting firefox using Ctrl-Q, firefox does not restore the previously open tabs. I have to click on history -> Restore previous session for the tabs to load.
This issue started recently. Please fix the bug.
Thanks, Ajit

With several tabs available, I used to be able to put my cursor on a tab (of course it opens) but holding the cursor on the tab, I could drag it right or left to rearrange the order of tabs. Now that doesn't work any more. I have to assume it is because of a recent upgrade in Firefox version. I have version 89.0.1 and I also miss the box around each tab, which more distinctly visually identifies the tab. Now the only one with a box around it is the one selected. The loss of surrounding box and the inability of dragging the tabs is probably connected. Suffice to say I do not like this "improvement" and would like to go back to the previous tab system....

Running Windows 10 64 bit with the latest updates on Firefox of 89.0.2. I cannot open a new tab to the google search bar by just opening a new tab. It defaults to showing a google search bar, but Firefox will not allow me to type into it. I am constantly redirected to the address bar to write my google searches or to a separate "search" in the same address bar, depending on which option I selected in settings.
I only have two options in Settings: 1) Use the address bar for search and navigation or 2) Add search bar in toolbar. I have Google set as my search engine.
Your previous version of Firefox did allow me to do exactly what I wanted. Now I cannot.
Under "New Tab" you only allow for 2 selections; Firefox home or a blank page, the latter of which does not show the personalized "rows". If you allowed a Google option there, it might resolve my problem.
I attached a picture of my new tab; it shows the search bar for Google, but it now says "Firefox" where it use to have the ever changing "Google" Logo. I do not mind the Firefox logo, but I seriously am upset that I am forced to type searches in the address bar. Who does that?
Furthermore, by forcing me to type in the address bar, its much harder to see what I am typing and allow for me to make corrections. Once I hit enter, it sends me to a typical Google search page, where I can then make changes, but this seems like an annoying step.
Am I missing something, some setting someplace where I can type in the search bar I indicated on my attachment?
On a side note: Thank you for adding a "Personalize" button on a new tab. It now allows me to add rows for shortcuts. Before I had to:
1. Load about:config?filter=browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.topSitesRows in the Firefox address bar. 2. Double-click on the preference browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.topSitesRows and change its value to the desired number of rows and click ok. 3. Check the New Tab Page to see the change right away and modify the number of rows accordingly if needed.
Which I technically have yet to change, because I prefer more than the 4 row limit you set. You will see those shortcuts in the attachment for the new tab.
Thank you for your time. Be safe and have a good day. :)
