I would like to setup Firefox so it checks for updates and installs them during maintenance windows (overnight) and runs the updates as 'system' account. This is how Chrome and Edge handle updates.

I tried using the following GPO settings

Application Autoupdate Enabled Background updater Enabled Disable Firefox Studies Enabled Disable Telemetry Enabled Disable Update Disabled Don't Check Default Browser Enabled

This seems to create Schedule tasks in Windows task scheduler, but the tasks are running as previously logged on user accounts. which doesn't help us in this particular environment.

I know we can manually push out the latest version via creating new MCM application pushes but the amount of updates that are coming down is a labor intensive exercise and we don't have the budget for PatchMyPC

Please post any thoughts!

I'm not an IT expert so any responses, although appreciated, should be in simple English please. Is it possible to set a time on my PC, for updates to the Firefox browser to be installed? If my PC is left on, after every update (which are regular), it takes ages to boot up my PC and get many windows reopened and working. It really is a massive inconvenience and getting annoying. Whereas when Windows wants to update, I can ask it to do it at a convenient time for myself, when my PC is shut down or I'm not using it or got numerous windows open, with unfinished work. Thank you in advance for your help in this matter.

I am not an IT expert and find it difficult to understand the procedure in upgrading Firefox as directed by continuous log in directives I can not get rid of upgrade notice no matter what i try. I really enjoy using Zen, but whenever there's a new update, the browser seems to start up from the beginning, as in, my laptop has to confirm again if I want it to be my standard browser, the shortcuts that I'd made don't work anymore (cmd+T now pops up the search bar instead of opening a new tab, while my settings say that this shortcut is supposed to open a new tab). It has just happened often that whenever there's a new update the browser seems to be very confused, it doesn't seamlessly just blend the new updates into my already existing preferences. A while back (like 3 months ish?) you guys had a new update and I had to go through the whole thing of installation again of the browser, I had to choose if I wanted to import data from an old browser while I had already set Zen up way before, plus I had to choose the dark mode/colour preferences and all that stuff.

I really enjoy this browser when nothing is going wrong but there's so many stuff changing often and not blending seamlessly that it really messes with the user experience.
