I-Firefox Isithangami Sokwesekwa

I have Firefox installed on an XUbuntu 20.04.2 LTS machine. preferences to "restore previous session" on startup. Intermittently, when I launch the browser, one of my windows has a very strange appearance (please note the general look of the window in the attached screenshot and ignore the "page cannot be displayed" message, as the screenshot was taken when I was not connected to the Internet.)

I have already tried reseting Firefox and that does not make the problem go away permanently; it always comes back eventually. (Note: I cleared cache before, and cookies after, taking the screenshot but before opening this support request. So the "troubleshooting information" attached reflects how it is after cookies are cleared.)

I have been trying to update this firefox now for months. I have been asking and asking but no-one bothers to come back to me!!! And please, I know how to update! It doesn't work. My "about" shows Firefox is updated, yet is keeps on asking me to update and won't let me use eg Netflix before I update. This is so frustrating but you guys are just not interested in helping. To tell me how to update is obvious - I know how to do it, but it won't work!!! Don't know whether I should just switch to another browser rather.

I am frequently having problems trying to log in to online bank Simplii Financial. My internet connection is good, FF (88.0) is able to connect to other sites. Other browsers (Opera, Chrome etc ) could all connect and allow my login. With FF it simply continues loading with no result. i have asked the bank to check their FF certificates? and they say there is no problem - just use another browser! Firefox is my main browser, the only one that can save my login details. This problem is sporadic but has been going on for several months. It may be connected with FF updates but I am om the latest version for my Linux distribution I believe.

 At one time FF would never connect to PC Optimum whereas other browsers did, that problem was somehow solved.

Occasionally, across all websites (as far as I can tell), the screenshot toolbar item is greyed out for me and I can't click on it. Meaning I can't take screenshots. I use windows and so snip and sketch is an alternative I can and do use but I prefer using Firefox's own screenshotting tool. What to do??

Last time I updated Firefox all menus and settings were lost. How can I avoid that? Yes, I know the answer is "that shouldn't happen" but it did and took my software engineer husband an hour to figure out how to get them back. Would like to skip that step. It's been more than a year since I updated but I'm now getting error messages saying my browser is out of date and website cannot be used without an update. Help!

I got a 5 billionth searcher scam site redirect... for some reason no script does not catch this. I have attached a picture of my addons, which are all recommended, and a picture of the scam page.

I have had this happen in the past and I have no idea why.

I am most worried about my passwords being stolen.

I am using linux mint 18.3 and have no idea how to check for malware.

Also, I should mention that when I use my landline to make phone calls (keep in mind that I am using DSL), I sometimes will get this odd redirect of my actual phone calls that will keep asking me about special offers over and over again. I called the phone company about it and they did nothing, after repeated calls..... but anyway, I wonder if that may be linked to the problem.

What should I do?

Currently installed 88.0.1 on Win7x64. Had to install Chrome because playing youtube playlists on Firefox became unbearable. On youtube.com and music.youtube.com many songs starts playing normally, then after few seconds, sometimes even over 10 seconds song restarts and start again. And this again is sometimes 3 times. It is not always the same songs. And it is not on every song on playlist. I would say it is random. Second problem is that after few songs has been played youtube choose next song and stops without any error. I need to push button play to continue. I tried to remove cookies, clean data and run in safe mode. Not sure when it started but i think at least 2 weeks has already passed. Don't observe this on Chrome so i will temporary switch to Chrome with youtube.

Hi, I am quite frustrated. Firefox keeps on asking me to update but when going to About, it says my FF is up to date? As a result, Netflix won't run anymore. I have rebooted, reinstalled, re-done everything. Running Windows 10 and have a good internet connection. Have been trying for weeks now - just getting more and more frustrated. Should I rather go to Chrome?

I have identified all locations of parasitic files I pick up while browsing and written MS-DOS code to clean those locations via a batch file. It's a lot more junk than the novice may think...

Some of the junk folders at the location cited begin with the preamble "https+++". Without the Deltree command any longer I have not found a way to delete those files with DOS code. Rmdir does not have the functionality to do wildcard deletes of folders.

I know the other folders in the location are for the extensions I have installed and I need those left alone.

Can I stop those "https+++" folders from even being spooled to my disk when I browse ? Short of that -- any idea how to kill them with code ?

Since Firefox 87, the “Highlight All” feature on Find in Page now displays tick marks alongside your scrollbar that correspond to the location of matches found on that page. Source: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/87.0/releasenotes/ So when I press Ctrl+F to find something then I check "Highlight All", I see the results in the scrollbar. I don't want to see these tick marks alongside my scrollbar. I prefer the old behavior.

How to go back to the old behavior please?

I'm stuck at ver 88. Starting with 89 I seem to be limited to around 150 total tabs across all open windows (even if only one is open). Total lockup of the desktop (KDE in linux) It hadn't been a problem, I just shut off auto update.

Now websites are whining about me running an older browser and some are even refusing to let me in. So I thought ok, I'll run multiple instances and keep the total number of tabs low. 5 instances work fine, the 6th starts to act a bit flaky, 7+ is a total lockup of the desktop (KDE in linux).

Even if I can manage to kill the last instance, its corpse remains on screen.

So I'm back to ver 88 with no solution. Is there a way around these limits? When I'm doing development I often have more than 600 tabs open. Eventually some will get closed, but I can't very well get much done if the browser is just going to lock everything up.

Please tell me what to do to have the magazine work. It used to, but I think that some new thing like Adblock must have changed it and I cannot read the magazine now. Thanks.

Hi, I want to be able to quickly go back to earlier pages I've viewed without having to spam click the back button / Alt+Left and re-request those previous pages. I can see the back button history drop down is a great tool for this, however the history entries seem limited to the past 15 pages or so. Is there a configuration value that one can modify to increase this limit? Alternatively, what are some good resources for overriding this menu with an addon that presents a custom control instead? I'm not afraid to write my own if need be, however I believe that one already existed for a previous version of Firefox (maybe even older than FF 4!!!), and never was updated.

Attached is the menu I am referring to in case it has a specific name in the codebase that may make it hard to find.

I just bought an HP Officejet 9018. I tried printing a receipt that was sent as an attachment to my gmail. It only prints very small in the upper left hand corner even though the print preview looks normal. I tried to print a return label that Amazon sent me a link to. It printed the same way. I called HP & after connecting with my laptop & trying many different settings unsuccessfully, they had me try to print from Chrome. The attached receipt in gmail & the return label printed fine from Chrome. It also printed fine from my gmail in my Android phone & my iPad, so the issue is only when in Firefox on my Windows 10 computer. My saved documents print fine. I just updated to the latest Firefox today, but the issue started when I got the HP printer & tried to print while using Firefox 2 days ago.

I saw instructions in here on checking the paper_data. It shows letter. I changed from "fit to page width" to Scale 100. I still have the same issue. There was one other instructions given to someone in Mozilla Support to click "file" & then something else, but I have nothing on my page that says "file". I assume the person answering the question thought the person asking was trying to print a saved document, but that wasn't the case.

I tried to attach screen prints, but my laptop is having issues & isn't saving them for some odd reason, yet I can see them in the "recents" in Microsoft Word. I save them again, but the same thing. It isn't in the folder when I click "browse" on "Add images" below.

What else can I do? it's such a pain to have to go to Chrome every time I want to print something. Thanks
