When I download an attachment from my emails, why does it automatically download to my desktop when it opens? I think it all started when I did an update with Firefox? So all the attachments that I opened up all week are on my desktop, and I did not realize it :( I usually click on the arrow on the attachment I open it up in Adobe Reader, then if I want to save it to

the desktop, I do Save As.

I went to settings tried everything still on the desktop. Please tell me what to change, PLEASE!

In Firefox Settings (General) there is a section 'applications' that allows you to [[choose an action based on file types|https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/change-firefox-behavior-when-open-file#w_changing-download-actions]]; such as PDF (open in FF, save, etc)

This menu is not functional for me. When I click on the down arrow to change the option, it should open a list - but nothing happens.

I tried rebooting & restarting FF, but the issue remains.

I am using FF 98 on Linux Manjaro.

I've been searching through other threads about this. You can waste a lot of time trying out various suggestions which don't work until eventually you find a thread which tells you that those suggestions won't work with the latest (97) version. I despair that the previous threads haven't been noted with this rather significant snippet of information. Anyway, I'm another one of the irritated people who would like the old print preview function back. To the people who say the new function is fine/better or why do I want the old one, here are a few reasons:-

- I could adjust the headers and footers as I wanted.  (Why everyone feels the need to put the information in different places is one of life's unsolved mysteries.)
- If I didn't need to show the time I printed something in minutes and seconds (which I don't think I ever did), I didn't need to show it.
- If I wanted to print say an old e-mail with the footer/header showing the old date, I could do it (without having to change the computer's date and then having to change it back). 
- If I could reduce something to one page but the footer displayed "1 of 2", I could change it to "1 of 1" etc.

Imho, removing the option of using the previous system is no improvement, it's barmy!

I am setting up a homepage called bento and every time I open the page it shows "Allow this local file to access your location?" with no "always allow" function. Anyone got any ideas?

I have an issue with programs that change my settings without my permission. Every now and then the print dialog screen is changed and I have to go to about:config and reset the "print_tab modal to "false", I think. I say that because neither setting fixes the problem.

Any Ideas?

I have a site where I need to download 250 licenses individually for products I own. Each link is the same exact text "Download License". Is it possible search for that term *and* somehow be able to "click" it using the keyboard instead of the mouse? I could fly through this process if I didn't have to use the mouse.

I reinstalled firefox because it was not loading any pages, and although that problem is solved, now I can't get container tabs to work. Even if I reinstall it, restart Firefox, or disable/reenable it, I can't get it to work. Anyone know what I can do? Should I just reinstall firefox again?

Why did Mozilla remove the disabled add-on fixes for older Firefox versions & where are they now?

Mozilla created them, made them available, advertised them & their location but after a short while removed them!! WTF?!?!?

In particular I'm looking for the disabled-add-on-fix-52-56. Please put all three of them back online for Firefox users ASAP.

Upon updating to your latest edition, my background on a new tab, has turned black. It used to be white. I did try to change the color back using the "settings"; "general" tabs, but it didn't change the background. Can you help me with this? Thank you.

I'm having a really hard time trying to put proper terms into my request. Please bear with me.

I believe it's a version or two ago that Firefox started imposing an arbitrary limit on how long I could explore in a pulldown bookmarks menu before it disappeared. I believe that earlier this wasn't the case: that once I was searching around among bookmarks they would be available to me to mouse around in for as long as I needed. Now they self-retract after a few seconds.

Is there a hidden pref to remove or greatly increase the time before the automatic withdrawal of bookmark menus while in use occurs?

I hope I'm being clear about this. I'm sure my terminology is less than accurate.

I use "always ask" for mp4 files in gmail - it used to work fine, but now it opens file if I select MS Media player AND IT SAVES the blasted file to my Downloads as well ! ....which I don't want it to do.

Hi all, I need to edit my Gmail mailto link to have a "/u/1" within it, because my default mailbox is not the one I want to be emailing from when I click a mailto link, but the URL within the settings menu is locked for editing. Is there an INI file or some sort of command line edit I can make please? I have another mailto link saved within Firefox that I need to use occassionaly so I can't use any solution that locks me to Gmail. Thanks in advance.

I got a trouble with UserChrome-Tweaks

Any of the tweaks are good for me except of one trouble. While playing a video on Youtube I can see the bug picture. Something causes this bug on playing video. How to fix it in my Firefox 95.0.2 version? (I turned the updates off for good by now)

What am I supposed to do? o_O

I'm just trying to NOT have Firefox open my last session when I open it up after rebooting Linux. I've tried many chosen solutions on this site but nothing is working. Here are the settings I've tried with no success (note that I have tried each one individually with a restart between):

"Open previous windows and tabs" is unchecked. "browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes" is 0. "browser.sessionstore.restore_on_demand" is false. "browser.sessionstore.restore_tabs_lazily" is false. "browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash" is false. "browser.startup.couldRestoreSession.count" is 0 but it sets itself back to 1. "sessionstore-windows-restored" within "sessionCheckpoints.json" in the profile folder is false but sets itself back to true. Deleting "sessionCheckpoints.json" does nothing. I don't have "user.js" in my profile folder.

Hello. I updated Firefox yesterday and I have 2 little problems:

1. Can't limit number of processes. Option in settings is missing. They are always about 8 FF processes, so it's hard to kill them quickly from task manager.

2. I use Win7 with classic theme, FF is set to use system theme, and userchorme.css is put in Firefox profile folder. I don't like new unreadable tab design and and modern designs at all. Also I like simple classic look. After last update my URL-toolbar and active tab starts to display white. They were correct colour before update.

I often misspell "the" as "hte", and other similar typos where (usually the first) two letters are opposite hands of the keyboard and my right hand it slightly faster than my left. Awhile ago, I accidentally hit ADD TO DICTIONARY instead of the THE to correct it. I have also just did it again with a similar typo.

Everything I can find online says there should be a persdict.dat file in my Profile folder, but it is nowhere to be found. I have searched my entire C: drive (including hidden files) for persdict and nothing was found. Has it been moved? OR is there some other way to delete that? Maybe even just a "Delete ALL" added words to go back to the default, since I have never purposely added any words to the dictionary? Since it IS a word I misspell a lot, I really need it to flag it again so I notice it.

To be clear, I am not talking about any add on dictionary or extension. Just whatever Firefox uses by default for filling in forms.

MS installed the latest firefox version and it has made all my backgrounds black and text white!!! I hate it!!! I can't read much on many sites.

Please help me get rid of this latest install.
