How to make FF refresh proxy settings from command line/script?

I configured my Windows 10 Firefox proxy to use system proxy settings, and I have a script can based on different network environment modify the system proxy autoconfiguration script address (HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\AutoConfigURL) in registry to update the proxy settings. Internet Explorer works well - new proxy configuration usually become effective in 1 or 2 minutes after the change. However, each time after my script changes the registry proxy address (without FF restart), I have to go to Firefox Tools->Settings->Proxy to manually change it to another value (in my case it's from "Use system proxy settings" to any other value), confirm it, and then change it back. Then FF is able to reload the autoconfiguration script to make it work. This is really a headache.

I just wonder is there a way to notify FF to reload the proxy autoconfiguration script address from registry from command line so that my script can trigger it automatically after the registry is modified?

Thanks.

Folks ---- 6 April 2023 ---

I posted this request previously, about 4 days ago.

I inadvertantly CHANGED the Font used in the Windows Notepad. Since I'm old enough for such changes to be visually significant, AND since the change makes reading text VERY difficult, I need to change it back to whatever it was before. It's just that I don't know what it WAS before[!]

That's my question: what Font do I specify, and what display Format do I use.

Thankx in advance for any help any of you-all can provide.

Hello everyone,

I need to recover a web page that I visited several times last fall using Firefox on Mac OS. I have regular backups which should include the Firefox cache files, but after looking through several threads online it is not clear exactly which file I would look for in my backups, and how I could go about actually looking at the cached version of that page. I have seen some tools for viewing old cache files, but the only one that seemed reasonably easy to use is only for Windows.

I would be grateful for any step-by-step instructions on how I can see an old page (or at least any parts of it that were cached) that no longer exists.

Also: I tried the various internet archives such as way back machine and google cache but no such luck. This was an ad on a real estate website in Italy.

Thank you in advance.

I'm using UIAutomation to get the bounding rectagle of an input control. Here's my C++ code.

IUIAutomation* p_iui; ... IUIAutomationElement* p_fcs_element; while(TRUE) {

   Sleep(1000);
   p_iui->GetFocusedElement(&p_fcs_element);
   RECT r;
   p_fcs_element->get_CurrentBoundingRectangle(&r);
   _cprintf("Rect: %d,%d,%d,%d\n", r.left, r.top, r.right, r.bottom);

}

When I put focus on some input text area and move Firefox by drag&drop, the RECT r's data(left,top,right,bottom)does not change, unless I change the focus to another text area and back to the first one. Should I change some Firefox settings to make the location information up-to-date when get_CurrentBoundingRectangle every time?

I remember long ago on an ancient browser there was an option in the print dialog to print a table of the links on a web page. Very useful for a page which has a lot of in-line links but no 'references'-like list of them all at the end. This can painstakingly be done by copying and pasting from the source code, but... years later, do we really not have a better way, like we used to??

On occasion, I come across a web page that offers to send an email if you click on the link eg, I was researching regulations for personal care homes in GA and there was an option to send an email to the administrators to ask them for more information.

So, I click on the link and rather than getting the email address, firefox goes to open the "mail" application on my mac.

Well, I never use that application because it is too slow and bulky. I can't use basic text options like bolding or italics and such. Not to mention, it takes forever to load.

I use GMX for mail and it is accessed through Firefox. It is not an application that "lives" on my computer.

How can I get Firefox to respond to these email buttons on websites by going to GMX?

Thanks, Charles

Hi friends, I need to watch Offline a series of professional videos from a website I study with. I'll be in a place with no internet for a while so I wish to know how to use the "work offline" modality to do that. Can the browser "remember" videos in the same way it remembers visited page?

I remember in the 90s / 2000s was possible to "save" pages to read Offline later on... Is that still possible?

Thanks

Firefox clear history can remove download info. But right-click on icon shows win10 keeps a list; items there can only be deleted one-by-one.

Maybe this is more a win10 issue. How can it be stopped from remembering all downloads, or how can that list be cleared all at once? Thank you.
