I seem to be encountering various problems since the update to 73, the main one is the profile folder, I dislike the default location so have previously just put my preferred location in appdata\roaming\mozila\profiles.ini but 73 regularly ignores this and puts a basic profile in the default location and alters profile.ini. Using the profile manager does not get any better results. I am also having problems with the home page, I have set a custom page but 73 often resets this to a blank page or sometimes the default home page. I have had to resort to a 'portable' version as 73 constantly resetting things was getting so annoying but the portable does not work well as a default browser.

Hi,

Using Firefox version 83.0 on MacBook Pro 2019 16 inch model. When I pause a video on any webpage, I hear a sudden loud "crack" sound from the speakers. It also happens when I unpause, jump backward or forward in the video. If I mute the sound of the video and try to pause/unpause, there is no problem.

I checked the same situation with other browsers. There are no problems with them.

I hope there is a solution to this.

Thanks.

I've just set up a new Win 10 PC and I'm having trouble accessing google services from firefox. My gmail, calender and other sites keep losing connection, and if I try to navigate to google.com it simply doesn't go: no error message, no loading timeout, the tab just behaves as if I didn't ask it to go at all. All these problems are intermittent, but I'd guess I'm getting about 90% downtime.

I've found that I can solve this problem by cycling "Query OCSP responder servers to confirm the current validity of certificates" under the security settings. When I disable this all the google services promptly work again for a little while, before failing. Then I reactive it, they come back online for a few minutes, then I need to disable it again to get another period of functionality.

I've already tried running in safe mode, disabling all my addons, reinstalling firefox, making sure it has an exception on my firewall, and enabling trackers on google. None of these have helped though. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, I can't find any question on forums where cycling the OCSP servers has been necessary!

I've been using Firefox for quite a few years . . . after these past couple of updates my PC is running so slow it is almost to the point of becoming unusable.

How do I check which programs are running at 'startup' and which programs are running in 'background'?

I can't say that it is Firefox causing this problem but I'd sure like to fix it.

Something is up that won't allow me to 'search' from the lower task bar

Thanks

Mike

My file input looks like this: ```

       <label role="presentation">
         <input
           onChange={handleInput}
           type="file"
           accept=".app"
           style={{ display: 'none' }}
         />
       </label>

```
And here is my handler: ```
 handleInput = (evt) => {
   const file = evt.target.files[0];
   console.log(`File size: ${file.size}`);
   uploadToServer(file);
 };
```

For every extension different than ".app", this will print the size and upload the file to the server. For ".app" files, the printed file size is 0, and the server upload simply hangs. This issue is not reproducible on Chrome and Safari. I only encountered this issue for ".app" files.

firefex 89.0.2 win 10: ff does not display all dropdown list boxes with 100% zoom factor on website ebay.de

on ebay.de, firefox does not display all drowdown-boxes wenn the zoom factor is 100% (but it does on some other values).

ebay.de displays some dropdown list boxes, after an article search has been performed, to filter search results, eg. "artikelstandort" = item location.

it depends on firefox' zoom factor if all of them a displayed or displayed correctly (on one line).

this seems to interfere with the column on the right, where ads are displayed.

see attached screenshoots.

When I use Firefox to access Fidelity.com and chart my stock research targets, it initially brings up the correct date range to the current date. However, when I click on the Advanced Chart link, it opens a new window with the advanced chart, which INITIALLY loads with the proper current date, but then reloads and displays a chart of the stock ending in February of 2021. This is very hazardous when I'm trying to select a stock to buy or sell thinking I'm looking at the current chart when it's really months old. I don't have this problem with Edge or Chrome, only Firefox, which is currently my favorite browser. I went into my cookies and deleted all my fidelity cookies. The problem persists. What else can I try?

At first, I was debugging an EMPTY_RESPONSE issue in Chrome, but, then, I tested access to the same file in FireFox, and I saw the issue at hand: that is, instead of EMPTY_RESPONSE in Chrome (which, I figure, might involve a timeout that Chrome does but which FireFox doesn't do), I see what's shown in the attached screenshot: namely, that the request blocks for 20 seconds (trying to access an available socket, as I understand it), then takes 20 seconds "Connecting".

This seems to be something specific to the given user's machine -- maybe malware. However, I want to know more specifically what's happening. The idea is that maybe this 40 second delay in FireFox might help explain the EMPTY_RESPONSE in Chrome.

I found the following StackOverflow post: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/27740692/request-stalled-for-a-long-time-occasionally-in-chrome

From that, in particular: "If the problem occurs only when accessing a particular server, the reason might be that chrome is fetching multiple resources (like images, CSS files, etc) on parallel connections. Since, in your case, the server is on your local network, you might want to ask the server's administrator to add support for persistent TCP connections."

I've checked to be sure the app-server (WebSphere in iSeries) is configured to allow persistent connections, and that is the case (per its admin-console). The issue does occur (for those for whom it occurs) only against our iSeries WebSphere instances, not against our Windows one. So, I've suspected something in the TCP or HTTP config on our iSeries app-servers. However, only certain users have that problem. My workstation, for instance, doesn't have that problem. So, it's not clear how it could be a server-side problem.

Meanwhile, the problem does exist for at least two users outside our network. So, if it's malware, it would seem that, somehow, those two external users happen to have the same malware as certain of our internal users. However, we haven't found any malware on our internal users' machines (using Malwarebytes, etc.) -- which, though, of course, doesn't mean there isn't any there.

Also, in the attached screenshot, the file in question is from the Bootstrap third-party JavaScript library, but we're hosting the copy of it that we're using; so, it's not a matter of needing to be able to access it from a third-party server.

Any ideas about this would be much appreciated.

Don't know if anyone has similar issues but seems cannot find similar questions asked with a lot of googling. If a service runs on windows service for linux version 2, and wsl2 has localhostForwarding set to true (default), chrome can access the webpage localhost:port but firefox cannot. http://127.0.0.1:port does not work as well. This is a pretty recent change for Firefox (started about maybe 3 months ago).

Any solutions?
