Opening PDFs automatically with Firefox and, without any changes I might make, saving them with the download function in Firefox, actually ruins the functionality and data entry function of that file. Specifically this happens with PDF files downloaded from the (not all that amusing) PDFs from the FINCEN, (US Financial Crimes Enforcement Network). I do not see why and how Firefox thinks it is allowed to change files that are simply downloaded and saved on Firefox.

In other words, it seems that Firefox strips away certain "permissions" and/or "functions" (like built-in lookup, menu or choice boxes). This means that the file so downloaded via Firefox can no longer be used to properly fill in data, or to look up and choose data items within the file. (I see many times that ANYTHING having to do with "permissions" tends to be an intractable and unsolvable problem for software makers & experts, so, if you do not know right away how to solve the problem, it will probably take you several years to figure this out.)

The PDF in question is created by a government agency. If you have ever dealt with a government agency, then you know that they act sort of like Adobe or Microsoft: "They don't respond, or they do respond & say they do not understand, and if they understand, they are either unwilling or unable to fix the problem."

If there is a switch or option within Firefox, which lets me tell Firefox "Save this file exactly like it is received, nothing added or removed!", that would be nice. I just have not found such an option yet, and it would be nice if it might get provided someday.

I will share my browser data, but I am sort of convinced that a detailed question like mine will not be addressed within that shared data.

I am getting messages that I am blocking ads for many of my internet requests. I had never received these before but all of a sudden I started to get them. I have tried a number of things but nothing works.

I am running Windows 11 and do not have any Ad blockers.

Have used Firefox for years, always do current updates. Still using Win10. After browsing for a few minutes, hard drive activity increases and the mouse and keyboard become unresponsive, returning very briefly for a second or two, before once again being unresponsive. After 10 min. or so, system returns to normal. This only happens while using Firefox. MS Edge, with all the same extensions, has no problem. Have searched many times, but no useful help is found. Have already un-checked hardware acceleration, and cleared caches, Am ready to give up and switch to Edge. Any help?

Win10 desktop: Boot-up forces selecting Firefox as default, then goes to default apps screen. Selections are correct. No save function (thought they auto-saved) . Then have two Firefox icons on taskbar: first is far left (normal) select and calendar & email launch. The second Firefox icon is far right on taskbar: Select and the system repeats the select browser & default apps Shown in the first line above.

For a few weeks now I have been unable to obtain email addresses from my bt address book when sending emails. If I type an address it often disappears when I press send. This makes it nearly impossible to send to a team list.

BT tell me that the email set-up is working well and it must be a server problem. They suggested clearing the history and cache on FireFox which I have done but no change.

Other servers seem to be ok but I don't really wish to change from Fire Fox which I have used for years and well set up.

Please could anyone advise?

I'm running Win11, v25H2, os 26200.8524 on a Dell laptop. Firefox v151.0.3 (64-bit) is behaving a bit odd in that I can open a window, open maybe 2 or 3 tabs, close all but one down, and if I check Task Manager it'll show multiple Firefox apps open, sometimes as many as 20+, and the disk usage/storage is usually between 750MB and 1.2GB. I can see if I had multiple windows or tabs open that the number of apps in Task Mgr would be equal, but if I've only got one or two tabs open and Task Mgr shows I've got 23 open? I have gone into Firefox/Settings/Privacy and Security and selected "Never Remember History" so that if I click on History in the main menu bar it never asks me if I want to clear history, but it will show "Recently Closed Tabs" for whatever tabs I may have opened during that Firefox session. But again, if it shows I have 4 recently opened tabs, why would Task Mgr be showing 18 (for example) open instances?

I have not activated Firefox VPN, I have Enhanced Tracking Protection set to "Standard", I do not have A-I turned on, I don't usually use Private Windows, and I don't have any 'extensions' or 'add-ons' installed - I'm using pretty much the 'standard' Firefox installation. I have Norton 360 VPN installed but rarely turn it on. If this makes any difference, I did try out Privacy Badger about 3 months ago for about 2-3 weeks, but it got so odd that I uninstalled it. Interestingly/oddly enough, about half the websites I visit multiple times a week still give me a pop-up message saying "We see that you're using an ad-blocker, would you like to turn it off?" but I can't turn it off if there's nothing installed. To see if I could stop this 'phantom ad-blocker' I even went so far as to "refresh Firefox", but actually I'm getting more instances of websites telling me "turn off ad-blocker so we can make some money out of you!!!" since the refresh.

This is annoying, not life-threatening but since I've had other problems with low disk storage/ high usage, I try to keep an eye on it and Firefox using ~1GB of space doesn't help the situation. I had asked about Privacy Badger a couple weeks ago and the answer was pretty much "if it's uninstalled, it's not working"... so that was pretty much a dead end.

Ideas?

Is it gMail or Mozilla that is slowing down the time for gMail to open a new Message? My internet connection is consistently between 200-300 mbps. Also, how to I change the email address on my account? Or should I just start a new account? Thank you.

My old laptop is broken; I can no longer access the hard drive. Is there any way I can reorganize my old bookmarks from before a specific date, i.e., December 15, 2025, in Firefox?

I'm having a problem with Firefox running very slowly, especially when watching YouTube videos. Videos take a long time to load, keep buffering, and sometimes get stuck while playing. The browser also feels slow overall, not just on YouTube. My internet connection seems to be working normally. I have already tried clearing all browsing history, cookies, and cache, but the issue still persists. I'm not sure if the problem is related to Firefox settings, extensions, hardware acceleration, or possibly a hardware issue with my PC.

When I use my computer, Firefox continually pops up telling me to sign in, even though I am already signed in. I have tried logging out and it won't log out. Can anyone tell me what is happening and give recommendations on how I can stop this and sign out of my account?

Perhaps I have missed a setting somewhere - while I like the concept of pinning tabs, I use the side bar to display my open tabs. If I choose to pin a tab, that tab is pinned to the top. Great. However, if I wish to pin 10 tabs, for example, they are all pinned in a single row. What I would like to be able to do is to stack them, maybe 3 per row, then have the 4th, 5th , and 6th form a second row. Is this possible?

Vor ein paar Tagen habe ich Esset home auf meinen Computer und mein Tablett installiert. Immer wenn ich das Internet (FireFox) öffne kommt die Warnmeldung "Sicheres Banking & Surfen ist erst nach einem Neustart des Computers voll funktionsfähig." Den Neustart habe ich bereits mehrmals veranlasst. Die Warnmeldung kommt aber immer wieder. Was soll ich machen? Bin ich beim OnlineBanking und Surfen nicht sicher?

I tried a restore but the only date available for bookmarks was today (jsonlz4 file). I tried other online suggestions but I cannot locate any old files to restore from. If I cannot get them back, I will switch browsers because the loss is unacceptable.

Firefox has definitely gone downhill imho. Too many very frequent updates after browser slows down to a virtual standstill. I have seriously been looking at other browsers. What's the story?
