I have Firefox installed on both my PCs and on neither of them will it open. After I install it I can use it a little bit but then it crashed randomly and will not open again. I have tried:

- Restarting - Reinstalling - Refreshing Firefox - Deleting local Firefox files - Opening in safe mode by holding shift (still does not open) - Allowing public connections in the windows control panel - Opening the profile manager with firefox.exe -P (still does not open)

Despite all of this, every time I try to open the app it either flashes a blank window and closes or doesn't open at all. What could be causing this?

All of this started after the 12 July update, I think. Worked flawlessly before this and I haven't installed anything else on the drive.

Firefox will function normally on some instances. However, there are times when, upon opening/running Firefox again, it opens without my previous tabs.

When this happens, I usually check Settings and find that "Open previous windows and tabs" in the Startup options is unchecked even though I checked it last time I used the browser.

And when this happens, Firefox usually opens on the tab you get when you first install it (where it shows you how to set up Firefox).

Going through the Privacy options also shows me that "Allow Firefox to send technical and interaction data to Mozilla" is ALWAYS checked under "Firefox data collection and use" when this happens, even though I previously disabled it.

Finally -- and this is the most irritating thing about it -- I can't open URLS on any tab. They go into perpetual loading instead.

To open URLs again, I have to select "Help" > "Troubleshoot Mode" > then "Restart" Firefox in troubleshooting mode, close it, and reopen it to get it working again. I've also selected Refresh once but it hasn't fixed the problem since this is happening again.

Can someone please help me figure out how to fix this?

I don't like the way Firefox uses Windows Action Center to show notifications, so I disabled it by changing alerts.useSystemBackend to false. The problem is Firefox built-in notification system just decides to remove any sound at all and only shows the notifications. It's annoying especially when I'm using this [add-on]. I really need to hear the notification sound. Please help me to bring the sounds back. Thank you.

Hi, I regularly use https://community.railwaymodellers.com but yesterday found that I could no longer post items or add comments to posts. It will let me add photos and "likes" but not let me add any text or create a new post. It was suggested by their admin that I try a different browser and I can confirm that if I access using 'Chrome' then I don't have this problem. They have also said that one of their other members has also reported an issue using Firefox... so this suggests that something has changed at Firefox during the past 24hrs to cause this issue. Any thoughts? Regards, Ian Perrin

I did a clean install of both Firefox, which I have used for years, and Ghostery private browser, which I just heard about last week. I have used the Ghostery extension, in Firefox, for years also.

My homepage, in both, is Breitbart News. Whenever I use Firefox, it takes over 35 seconds to load Breitbart upon startup. Whenever I use Ghostery Private Browser, it takes less than 5 second to load Breitbart. The difference appears to be that Ghostery, obviously, is not an extension in Ghostery Private Browser!

The only difference I have noticed, so far, is that, in Ghostery PB, whenever I click on a Bookmark, it automatically opens up a new tab, while, in Firefox, the bookmark opens in the tab I'm in at the time.

SO, I have a few questions. Since Ghostery PB seems to be Firefox, is it really Firefox Light? That is, are there functions, in Firefox, that I don't have in Ghostery PB?

Then, if so, are there any settings, in Ghostery, that would remove 'Light' functionality or features and make both Firefox, with Ghostery extension, exactly the same as Ghostery PB!

And if that's the case, that there is no diffence, I might suggest that Ghostery be an option, on Firefox install, rather than a separate installation.

Hello. In the last couple of days whenever I open a page from answers.microsoft.com the CPU usage climbs to 100% and the RAM usage starts to rise until it gets to 100% also. I have to terminate Firefox on the Task Manager, because it's not enough to close the tab of the Microsoft page. I have an I5-7500 with 24GB of RAM, and use Windows 10. Firefox 102.13.0esr (64-bit)

Does anyone know what's causing this and how to solve it?

Thanks in advance.

Why is my computer so SLOW to start up in the morning. I think it may have something to do with Firefox. I start the win7 then click on the firefox tab in order to go to my other sites. BUT firefox takes for ever to load?

I am continuing to get this 'firefox not responding' message while I am working around on the internet, then the computer stops working for a period of time (stalls out).

I leave a subject, then try to reopen firefox to look for something else, and even thought I think I have left firefox, then reoped it,...instead it tells me I now have 2 firefoxes opened because the other one never shut down??

I'm 80 years old and don't understand who ever is writing all this new software. I often wonder if they ever learned english??

When I play a video in picture in picture mode and make it full screen, the backspace button should pause the video, but instead of that it does the last activity (exits the full screen mode). If I press using the mouse the pause/play button, backspace starts working properly too. Please fix the bug where I can not pause/play video while in picture-in-picture mode on full screen. Thanks. Bug occures on every PC so dont ask me for other details. Just reproduce it yourself. (Play a video -> enter picture-in-picture mode -> make it full screen -> press backspace and you'll see it doesn't pause, but it will exit full screen mode which is abnormal)

Hello,

On my Linux box, I've noticed that with a downloaded file, if it goes into tmp, when the file is being moved to the final location on an SMB share, the copy is relatively very slow.

So for example, I start a download; if I'm slow finding the location for the file to end up in, so that the download completes first, once I specify the final location, the copy from the tmp location to the final location goes very slow. The final location is always on a network share. It looks like it happens at around 80Mbps.

When I just do test copies from local to the same mount point from a file manager, those copies run at around 600Mbps. So it seems like something happening with Firefox specifically when it's moving a download from the tmp location. Any ideas on what might be causing it/what I can do to get that copy to happen faster? I run into it fairly frequently, so it's something of an ongoing annoyance.

Thanks!
