I seem to be encountering various problems since the update to 73, the main one is the profile folder, I dislike the default location so have previously just put my preferred location in appdata\roaming\mozila\profiles.ini but 73 regularly ignores this and puts a basic profile in the default location and alters profile.ini. Using the profile manager does not get any better results. I am also having problems with the home page, I have set a custom page but 73 often resets this to a blank page or sometimes the default home page. I have had to resort to a 'portable' version as 73 constantly resetting things was getting so annoying but the portable does not work well as a default browser.

In recent weeks, clicking on an Outlook email which says "click here to view it in a web browser" loads up Internet Explorer. It used to be Firefox which provided the web page. So it looks as though MS IE has infiltrated the computer. How do I clear it out? In Options, Firefox is still listed as the default browser and searching the page produces no hits for Internet Explorer as an add-on etc.

I experienced something similar to this user (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1276847) in that for a few updates now I can't start Firefox after every automatic update, it gets me a busy cursor and I can't end it through Task Manager because the process keeps vanish-reappear-vanish.

Unlike that user though, I fixed this by following the method here (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1174236) REPEATEDLY. During those repeated reinstall process, I received error messages like "missing mozglue.dll", "missing fir-(something)", "can't load xpcom", and etc. (Yes, I'm sorry I couldn't screenshot them for proof and better explanation purpose.)

So I'm wondering, why am I getting so many error messages like that? Is there a way to fix this, so hopefully I won't have to do the whole reinstall process(es) every time there is an update?

I'm running v73.0.1 64 bit on Windows 7 Home Edition. Ever since the latest Firefox upgrade I can't properly watch or listen to a YouTube video unless I just play one video in a single tab and do nothing else with my browser or computer, otherwise the video is choppy and crackles loudly in my speakers, it pauses, and crawls like my computer is out of memory resources. In fact, sometimes even watching a single YouTube video in a single tab with no other programs running or tabs open is problematic. Nothing on my computer has changed except Firefox; why can it no longer handle activity in multiple tabs or in conjunction with almost any other program running simultaneously? This was never an issue before and it's very agitating. Do I need to switch to another browsing platform to regain a smooth viewing experience?

Hi, I use iCloud via the browser every day. I used to use Chrome, and it worked very well. However, I'm making the transition to Firefox full time, and icloud Notes is very very poor. If I press enter in a note, it doesn't reflect in the screen. I have to press 2 or three times to get a single enter/linebreak. And I have to move the cursor up and down to get more than one line break, while pressing enter many many times.

Is this normal?

there should only be a single firefox volume slider in this pic yet there are 6 and even when tabs with video players and other audio source are closed these "ghost sliders" remain.

i'm well aware of how you guys left the old firefox memory leak issue unresolved for well over 2 decades until eventually coming up with that "tab unloader" feature as the solution.

i'm also aware that this volume slider issue has been a problem for at least 2 years now... i really hope this isn't the memory leak all over again because i do not enjoy browsing the internet and randomly having to bring up volume mixer and turn down the volume because firefox decided to spawn a new volume slider for NO GOOD REASON and at FULL VOLUME no less!

it's not funny. it serves NO good purpose. and tbph it's actually rather startling and unsettling at times because there is no way of knowing when it'll happen again.

will it happen with the next youtube tab i open to watch a video? or will it happen after 2 normal youtube tabs? oh, or how about when i open a tab to watch a video, turn down the new volume slider then leave said tab to check or do something else for a moment and come back only to have the audio BACK at full blast and have to lower it AGAIN on yet aNOTHER volume slider?!

note: while i used youtube as an example here this problem happens ALL across the internet on ANY website regardless of whether or not the audio is coming from a video player, audio player, or anything else like a fricking flash game of all things.

the memory leak had a temporary fix where you could periodically reboot the browser. this? this is 100% random with NO way of predicting when or where it'll happen next. as for why i brought up the memory leak issue...easy comparison for a problem that went unresolved for MANY years.

On my Mac, when I use "Print > Save as PDF" in Firefox, it only saves 1 page of multi-page documents, especially on lists; sometimes there are blank pages for page 1 or page 3. Works fine in Safari. Someone asked a similar question about HTML pages, but the solution offered, an add-on, is listed only for Windows/Linux.

When preview outlook attachment, unable to print PDF format directly from preview page, it doesn't invoke printing page at all, meanwhile all other format (Word. Excel, TEXT etc.) can be printed directly and correctly. I have checked settings --- "applications", for "Portable Document Format (PDF)", it doesn't matter what the option is, it just doesn't work. BTW, it used to be working, since updated to latest version, i got this problem.

Ok, I feel a little funny asking this simple question! Information Blanks used to store the info I had previously typed in, and after an update/reinstall those blanks are now not storing my info. For example, I do Genealogy Research and the Names, Dates and Locations, I typed in yesterday, or previously, use to "Drop Down" when I began to type in the space. They no longer do that, and I'd like to know how to make them do it again.

Firefox just stays in a blank window and will not close with the upper right X. Closing via other methods work. If a Firefox browser is already open, then the url page is correctly opened in a new tab. Tried reinstalling Firefox. This scenario works with Edge, CrEdge and IE. Tried on multiple installations with the same results.

Hello,

I had to reset my PC tonight and forgot my password for my Firefox account, luckily I have a recovery key. My issue is when I reset my password, the field is missing to enter the key.

The recovery instructions state:

If you forgot your password and need to reset it, follow these steps.

  1. Click the Forgot your password? link on the sign in page.
  2. Check your email and click the password reset link in it.
  3. Enter recovery key.
  4. Create a new password.
  5. Create a new recovery key.

If I try to enter a new password will the recovery key option appear after? My fear is I would reset my account accidentally and unable to revert afterwards.

Hello. New firefox user, just got it today. Been scrolling facebook, and it's almost unusable. As i'm scrolling, if new content is loaded, then it jumps me down to a position underneath the new content. This ends up skipping about 6 or 7 posts completely. Is there a way to tweak the scroll anchoring settings, or does everyone with firefox just deal with this? I'm on a mac, using my track pad and a usb mouse. Scroll jumping happens in safemode, and on nightly/safemode.

So I was adding captions to another YouTuber's video. I felt like being helpful. (Video in question: Playframe's Dark Souls video "Ornstein and Smough") I left the tab open to go to class, but when I came back to resume working on it, the tab locked up so badly my screen went black every time I tried to un-minimize the tab. Eventually, the entire browser crashed -- so badly, that, upon bringing RuneScape up, I was given the alert that my graphics driver had been halted due to an error. I can only assume it was this crash because nothing else of note happened. Luckily, I got the driver updated and everything seems to be good now.

But one question is bugging me: Can a Firefox crash actually cause your graphics driver to straight up fail? Because everything was working fine before this crash.
