Twice in a year, maybe in 2, Firefox updates have completely hosed my bookmarks. I don't always remember to save them when updates come through. This browser updates more than any other one I use. I'm an elder who has to juggle tons of internet details. I can't tell what folder they came from, but there are at least 150 bookmarks skewing the view of my folders.

I tried to delete all of them, and if I reopen it, all the ones I deleted are back in the way. Why won't they go away? What is getting confused here? One thing is that I'm afraid Firefox won't reopen all the tabs & windows I have open, so I kill it using my Task Manager, instead of just closing Firefox windows. Why? Because it has lost one of my windows before, with multiple tabs open and I couldn't find any of them.

Yes, I'm the one who maintains 3 separate Firefox windows with multiple tabs open. Please do not tell me not to do that, when I've been doing this for years & years. This thing's limitations shouldn't become mine. Everybody uses products differently; doesn't mean you get to judge when I'm not using it the way you do.

I hate that this happens, because I'm not expecting Firefox to make a mess and don't know where they're pulling all these bookmarks from. Nothing is missing from my folders. It's like they're duplicated and show up when I click 'Bookmarks'. They keep reappearing under the 'Bookmarks Menu' with Manage Bookmarks, but obviously not coming from there or they wouldn't reappear when I delete them.

Any ideas what's going on?

Again, don't tell me how to use my computer. I've been doing this since PC's were invented. If you know what's happening, great. If not, mind your manners & don't let your ego take pot-shots. Thank you.

I´m using Firefox since many, many years ago. Some days ago I have install this web browser in an old Desktop PC, a Compaq Presario, working with Windows 7 Professional x64, an Intel Core 2 Duo 6300 of 1,87 Ghz, 4 Mb of RAM, 1Gb ethernet adapter with a 1 Gb Router LAN ports and an Internet connection of 300 Mb. Using the same Internet speed test I have observed the following results in differents moments of a day:

Firefox Download speed 130 Mb Opera Download speed 210 Mb Microsoft Edge Download speed 220 Mb Google Chrome Download speed 270 Mb

Firefox can work faster (near the 300 Mb of the Internet provider) with newer Intel processors (Intel i7, for example), but with older Desktop PC its seem not possible. I hope this information can be useful for future developments to allow Firefox to work in a wide variety of Computers.

Thanks so much and Happy New Year to everyone.

I am using a win 7 home premium 64 bit laptop Dell XPS. I cannot afford a new computer or as someone trained in computer graphics (before I became disabled) I would. After installing the latest moxilla firefox browser updat last night I shut down my computer as usual. Today upon trying to get my laptop to boot I started getting windows software validation errors. I had not done any software updates except that new firefox update so there is no question what caused the problem. I managed to get a temp resolution by using my last restore point. Now I love firefox as my preferred browser (99% of the time, but I am concerned that the validation errors will start again if I install the current update. Anyone else seen anything like this? Or have a fix?

I always keep my software including my antiviral up to date.

Not sure what data I could share, or if its even relevant) because I had to use a restore point to get my computer to validate my 100% genuine windows software. I dont know if either the raw data or report would even be helpful so providing both.

Windows 7 internet Access icon doesn't show I'm offline, but Firefox says I'm disconnected from the internet. I'm not sure if it is Firefox, or my Protonmail email client, that is generating the offline popup notices. My ISP connection (CenturyLink) has frequent very short disconnections, but apparently it connects again briefly before going offline again. Before Windows 7 came along I found instructions on setting Network and Sharing Center timings to correct this, but I can't remember - or find - how to change timings with Win 7.

Firefox incorrectly formats 7 digit phone numbers for no reason by adding a "+1" and stripping out the "-"s (dashes). It is not up to Firefox to arbitrarily decide how I want phone numbers entered. This can be seen when you go to "Privacy & Security", "Forms and Autofill", and "Saved Addresses". Edit any of your saved addresses or add one if you don't have any addresses saved. Enter a phone number "456-789-1234", save the entry, and open that entry again. The phone number will now be "+14567891234". If Firefox wants to make the reformatting an option, I'm OK with that so that I can turn the intrusion off. version 109.0

The above website will display a "No Internet Connection" message every 2-3 hours. When I close Firefox ESR 102.7.0, I get a " Firefox still running message" and when I click on "Stop the process" it closes and Firefox will re-start with internet access, will run for 2-4 hours then happens again. I am running Win 7 Ultimate with all updates on an HP DV-7 laptop with an I-5 processor. Also it seems that the longer Firefox runs the more Processor time it takes. It will start with about 20%, then in an hour or 2 will be at 95%.

Hi All,

I'm having a strange problem displaying eBay correctly in FF 109.

The font displays as a Times Roman style, instead of the usual Helvetica style.

Only the "Purchases" page has this issue, all other eBay pages display correctly.

Firefox 88 displayed this eBay page correctly, but Firefox 109 does not.

This issue occurs "installed out of the box", even without userChrome.css edits applied.

Please see attached screenshots.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

When I play a Youtube video on loop (by right-clicking the video and selecting "Loop" from the context menu so a checkmark appears next to the word "Loop"), it should play an infinite number of times until stopped.

I am noticing that Firefox will turn off the loop feature on its own, after a random number of plays, without user intervention, and the video will end.

This could happen after just one play, or after a few plays, or after many plays hours later.

I have tested this issue in non-Firefox browsers, and it does not occur with them.

It happens in most any version of Firefox I try, including FF88 and the recent FF109.

Please see attached screenshots.

Is this a known bug?

Thanks!

We have heard it before that the Addons can interfere with the proper functioning of Firefox. If there is a problem, than one of the first things to consider is to run Firefox without the Addons. What seems to be happening is that with each new version of Firefox, there is the possibility that one of the Addons will become problematic. The Addon called "Firefox Color" would hang up the Firefox Browser when it was first opened. I have the Bar on top set to certain shade of Blue, and the Browser would start with the wrong color and takes several minutes for the right color to appear. Meanwhile the browser would be hung up and non functional. I would wait several minutes and could not browse. Firefox was waiting for something to initiate and became nonfunctional during that period. After several minutes I would shut Firefox and reopen, and get that ANNOYING MESSAGE... Firefox is still open. So I am trying again and again to get the Firefox to enable, and finally the Bar on top changes to the selected shade of Blue and is working again. So what did I do? I disabled "Firefox Color". So I no longer have that problem.

I just downloaded the most recent update. After restarting because the browser locked up (as it usually always does eventually) now when I right click to save a picture (save as) firefox opens an invisible (file explorer?) window. At first I didn't realize it was invisible. I could see a flash of the outline of the window but as quickly as that happens it seems to vaporize/minimize and become inaccessible apparently. However because of my inquisitive mind I just realized that isn't exactly so. Because I've seen this happen before with your little "clear recent history" options window. So how I realized it was possible to close this 100% transparent invisible window was by hovering my mouse cursor around the outline of where I saw it was where it flash/minimized. By doing so I could find the edges where my mouse cursor changes from a regular pointer arrow to a two sided window expander arrow used to widen or shorted the sides and tops of windows. By locating this I was able to find the top right corner and click on the location of the invisible red "X" button which actually closes the invisible window. This may sound a little crazy but I repeated the same thing twice now since when I came back to the same page to try and save the same picture after restarting firefox a second time, the same thing happened again. By the way when this happens the browser window locks and I cannot access the file menu or choose to cancel/exit firefox even with the red arrow at the upper corner of the windows. Also the file menus of any other firefox windows I have open also become locked. Previoously when this was happening to me I determined that the only way to fix the issue was to kill firefox from windows Task Manager. But at that time (a few months ago) the same issue was occurring. I can't remember if restarting my computer fixed it but that's my obviousl next tstep in case it's an issue with widows itself. I cannot recall how I this issue was remedied the last time it happened. I'm thinking I may have had to uninstall/reinstall firefox or go basically install the newest version on top of the current version (which is supposed to be updated by the way!) Anyways as you're reading this is not the first time this has happened to me in Firefox. It's happened previously at least once or twice within the past 6 months probably after a firefox update I'm seeming to recall. Why do things get screwed up after updates and changes get made that affect my accessibility? This cannot be just happened randomly. Upon researching the topic there was very little I could find and no soulutions in the firefox help forum. I came across something in my searching that this may be an issue with windows file explorer so I tried restarting windows explorer but that did not help either. I have tried restarting firefox once since the update and that did not fix this issue either. I have not tried restarting my computer but I will be doing that next. It's possible I guess that may fix it. It seems that the last time this happened to firefox it eventually was corrected or somehow fixed itself but I don't remember how. Just prior to the restart after this most recent update my firefox actually locked up as a web page was loading and I was trying to access the menu to clear recent history by pressing Ctrl+Shift+Delete since the file menu was locking. This window never actually opened (or perhaps was also made invisible) prior to getting it to close. With that one it can only happen by canceling or clearing. When this happened all the other firefox windows I had opened turned 100% blank white until the locked one cleared. In the meantime I had disconnected my internet to try and get the one page that wasn't loading to stop. But I also forgot to mention that just prior to this happening, not only right click menus but the firefox menu bar menus were opening black; some with a few icons or words but with others completely blacked out like blank, but black blank. I do use dark mode. This is also not the first time I've ever seen that happen (blank menus) in Firefox. In fact it has happened to my firefox several times over the past year around times that the browser became overloaded or after a recent update. In addition I have major issues with firefox maxing out my memory basically every time I use it one the RAM gets full. Why can't firefox self regulate its memory usage so as not to chronically lock up my entire computer on a regular basis? Why do I have to use add-on extensions designed to perform this feat when it should just be built into basic firefox functionality. Firefox should not allow itself to "hang". If tasks cannot be completed within 30 seconds they need to stop. If memory gets beyond a certain point, web pages need to unload automatically and their memory dumped. It's no big deal. Lastly my bookmark menu is a mess and not easily accessible. I don't like having a both a regular bookmarks list and an "other bookmarks" list. A number of years ago I think bookmarks were automatically saved into the regular bookmarks menu and I don't know that ever really used the other bookmarks section if it was even there at the time. But then at some point the auto-bookmarking bookmarks helper started automatically setting new bookmarks to go into this "other bookmarks" folder. This went on for sometime so I just started using "other bookmarks" until again after some recent update within the past year the bookmark settings were changed back by some developers at Firefox to go back to the regular bookmarks menu. But since I got so used to using the other bookmarks menu and don't really know how to consolidate and organize these all into one section I just feel really upset about it. I don't want to have two bookmarks folders unless I designate a separate one myself. I need a power-users bookmark manager and a bookmarks menu with as many user customizable options/settings as possible. The current bookmarks menu looks like it was designed for children. I want to be able to change the view. I want to be able to get rid of duplicates. I want to be able to re-categorize bookmarks from different folders into new folders by subject matter and cross-link bookmarks from different folders by subject matter or by site visited, etc. I think the current bookmarks system is not user friendly. Anybody ever heard of the Humane Interface by Jef Raskin? How about root tabs inside bookmarks folders for people who save all tabs from windows into bookmark folders? There has to be a better way.
