Opening PDFs automatically with Firefox and, without any changes I might make, saving them with the download function in Firefox, actually ruins the functionality and data entry function of that file. Specifically this happens with PDF files downloaded from the (not all that amusing) PDFs from the FINCEN, (US Financial Crimes Enforcement Network). I do not see why and how Firefox thinks it is allowed to change files that are simply downloaded and saved on Firefox.

In other words, it seems that Firefox strips away certain "permissions" and/or "functions" (like built-in lookup, menu or choice boxes). This means that the file so downloaded via Firefox can no longer be used to properly fill in data, or to look up and choose data items within the file. (I see many times that ANYTHING having to do with "permissions" tends to be an intractable and unsolvable problem for software makers & experts, so, if you do not know right away how to solve the problem, it will probably take you several years to figure this out.)

The PDF in question is created by a government agency. If you have ever dealt with a government agency, then you know that they act sort of like Adobe or Microsoft: "They don't respond, or they do respond & say they do not understand, and if they understand, they are either unwilling or unable to fix the problem."

If there is a switch or option within Firefox, which lets me tell Firefox "Save this file exactly like it is received, nothing added or removed!", that would be nice. I just have not found such an option yet, and it would be nice if it might get provided someday.

I will share my browser data, but I am sort of convinced that a detailed question like mine will not be addressed within that shared data.

I am getting messages that I am blocking ads for many of my internet requests. I had never received these before but all of a sudden I started to get them. I have tried a number of things but nothing works.

I am running Windows 11 and do not have any Ad blockers.

I want to change my keyboard shortcuts for download page.Before an update my download page shortcut was ctrl+j. But after that update my keyboard shortcut changed ,now it is ctrl+shift+u. How do I fix this

I used to go to bookmarks right click hit open in new tab and the bookmarks tab would stay so I could open more sites in separate tabs. Now when I hit open in new tab on a bookmark the bookmark tab closes so I have to keep opening it to open additional site?

When I restarted my Windows 10 computer, the activity bar and all my history disappeared.

It was working perfectly this morning.

Any ideas?

This is the second computer in the last two weeks that has done this to me.

Firefox suddenly reset to a fresh install state: only default bookmarks, my custom ones are gone. No sync enabled. No manual reset/refresh/reinstall done. Tried: Restore from backups (none recent), about:profiles (only new profile), checked bookmarkbackups folder (empty/old). Please help recover bookmarks if possible. What could cause this? Any recovery steps?

Attempting to follow any number of Ubuntu 24 HOWTOs to connect the Firefox I installed from the ZorinOS App Store to the smart card reader and they are all failing miserably so far.

I've tried a few other pkcs11.so's on other paths and FireFox just immediately crashes. This one it at least says it can't add it. The module is owned by root and has 644 permissions so I think it should be readable. Brave Browser is working well with cert auth via CAC and I already have the machine fully set up with logging in via CAC, locking screen automatically when CAC is removed, etc etc so I know that at a base level the CAC is working well. Just can't seem to find the proper link glue.

This is NOT the snap version of Firefox either, I am pretty sure. sudo snap firefox commands say firefox isn't installed.

I am at my wit's end with this. checked every single post on every website but nothing works. anything larger than 30 megabytes always fails in the middle and I have to keep resuming it. It also keeps giving me the same error message "Downloads\example.part could not be saved, because the source file could not be read. Try again later, or contact the server administrator." I have tried safe mode. I tried changing the download location, it still tells me that the .part file in the Downloads folder can't be read. This .part problem started recently after a firefox update for me. But the downloads getting cancelled for no apparent reason has been a forever problem. Is switching back to Chrome the only real solution? (I've been told this)

Hello, I have been using Firefox for 15 years, you guys are awesome. I have a few issues before with Firefox, in the past but were easily fixed by a refresh or new install, PC reset. I have tried these options and more, and still I cannot see why websites are not connecting, I recently tried Norton Anti track, didn't see anything new deleted after 3-days? (Properly)I am sure anti track is the cause of the problem, it was running fine until deleted extension removed everything. Norton did a remote session taking screen shots of computer and stated Firefox is is just not working. I can access the websites from that browser. I reinstalled Firefox* after install of Norton product, which usually likes to control everything on your computer. I have a HP Pavilion desktop running windows 11/// I just cant seem to get to my accounts seem to be block by something? Account i have had for years. I have done everything on Mozilla help articles, but still not letting me in to the websites??? some are opening email AOL, CVS and a few others, even my Amazon Prime account hesitates while browsing?I had and AOL pop-up stating My GP? settings? could not find it. Can you help any info would be appreciated. Firefox is my default browser and I miss it. Thanks to all at Mozilla, best, Thomas user.

My default search engine in Firefox settings is Google. I deleted Yahoo search from the list of browsers in my settings. Nevertheless, all of my searches recently began going through and using Yahoo search. This is the search path that comes up in the search box: https://search.yahoo.com/yhs/ . . . How can I stop this?

Firefox displays some search results in French. Microsoft Edge shows results only in English. Firefox settings are for English. Google settings are for English. How to fix Firefox or should I uninstall, then reinstall Firefox? Rick

Immediately after my last Mozilla update, the system asked me if I wanted Firefox as my search engine. I clicked yes, as I always do when prompted. I don't know if this is the cause or if there's another connection I'm missing, but since then I haven't been able to access other websites. Every time I try, an error message appears saying "Oops, the system has crashed..." or something like that. However, if I use Google or Edge, everything works fine. How can I fix this problem? I cleared my history, and lost my autofill for my yahoo email account. I can't get it back from them. Is there a way for me to find it in my firefox history? Thanks
