Opening PDFs automatically with Firefox and, without any changes I might make, saving them with the download function in Firefox, actually ruins the functionality and data entry function of that file. Specifically this happens with PDF files downloaded from the (not all that amusing) PDFs from the FINCEN, (US Financial Crimes Enforcement Network). I do not see why and how Firefox thinks it is allowed to change files that are simply downloaded and saved on Firefox.

In other words, it seems that Firefox strips away certain "permissions" and/or "functions" (like built-in lookup, menu or choice boxes). This means that the file so downloaded via Firefox can no longer be used to properly fill in data, or to look up and choose data items within the file. (I see many times that ANYTHING having to do with "permissions" tends to be an intractable and unsolvable problem for software makers & experts, so, if you do not know right away how to solve the problem, it will probably take you several years to figure this out.)

The PDF in question is created by a government agency. If you have ever dealt with a government agency, then you know that they act sort of like Adobe or Microsoft: "They don't respond, or they do respond & say they do not understand, and if they understand, they are either unwilling or unable to fix the problem."

If there is a switch or option within Firefox, which lets me tell Firefox "Save this file exactly like it is received, nothing added or removed!", that would be nice. I just have not found such an option yet, and it would be nice if it might get provided someday.

I will share my browser data, but I am sort of convinced that a detailed question like mine will not be addressed within that shared data.

I am getting messages that I am blocking ads for many of my internet requests. I had never received these before but all of a sudden I started to get them. I have tried a number of things but nothing works.

I am running Windows 11 and do not have any Ad blockers.

Hello. I am setting up a site on Linux server using Apache as reverse proxy , with ASP.NET as application server . since installing SSL , I had few mixed content blocking that i was managed to fix using CSP directive in Apache configuration file. site has no issue with all browser except Firefox. the only issue is that in admin section , to configure a option. system will load a js file that simply a dropdown with list of options to choose from . when using Firefox , it tries to redirect that page to login page . for test , i clicked on the link i located in Developer tools , which directed me to login page , entered my credentials, and scripts loads showing the drop down box and ok button. is been 3 weeks i been looking for every solution and i have done everything .. but nothing have worked. now I am resort to having to use other browsers if i need to use that functionality in admin page. In page header file name : login , location : http://MYDOMAIN.ca/login?ReturnUrl=%2FAdmin%2FDiscountRulesCustomerRoles%2FConfigure%3FdiscountId%3D6%26_%3D1702682353293 , which are not correct . and browser such as Brave and Safari dose not show different path and file name and everything is correct. dose anyone know how to fix this .. ? i saw a solution mentioned as stated resting Firefox ,but can not find a way to reset , but i have reinstalled Firefox and constantly having this issue on this single section of the page . when I want to download a podcast from ARD Podcast, I can click "Download," but the "Download" button is missing from the subsequent window. With Duckduck, it's no problem.

Firefox will open 2 instances when my computer restarts sometimes, 1 instant with the tabs that were current when the laptop restarted, and 1 instance which is a very old instance that is referencing something somewhere.

My question - how do I remove that old instance? I just bought a new WIN11 laptop and it's now happening on that laptop as well.

Over about the last week I have had three Windows updates. After the second of these updates I discovered that moving from one website to another or moving from one page on a website to another page would result in nothing more than a continuing horizontal moving blue ball going back and forth in the address area. After some testing this appears to continue without any further Firefox response or internet activity. After checking online there was a suggestion about clearing the cache so I tried that several time clearing everything in the Privacy area of TOOLS. This had zero effect, at least after the windows updates. (NOTE: The most recent third update did not clear the problem.)

I thought you might want to check this for yourselves.

I had to replace my internal disk drive with a new one in my computer. I was able to recover all of my things that were saved on the old drive as it was still readable to an external hard drive. I then transferred what was missing back to the new drive that was installed. The back up folder for Mozilla Firefox bookmarks (that contain .json backup files) is still located in documents with the latest back up being 04-12-2025. When I try doing a restore going to documents, selecting the 4-12-2025 .json, nothing happens. Of course any bookmarks that have been saved since are erased as well.

Is there a solution for this? Please let me know.

I'm watching a movie and every around 2 minutes the movie stops and says you aborted media playback. i have drm content checked, turned off acceleration, and allowed the website to autoplay. i have no adblockers or security protectors activated on that site. and i am not using a vpn.

I started to have this problem within the last few days. Selecting "Open image in new tab" opens a new tab but displays a very small, pixel sized white rectangle and no image is displayed.

I dont have this issue in Chrome or DuckDuckGo browsers. I have deleted cached images, files, disabled all extensions and restarted my phone to no avail. I haven't found any relevant settings to check in my phone settings or in FFx but am I missing something? JW

Hello, Since september, 1st, i have a display problem while opening the linkedin tabs. I tried several things to repare it, but nothing is working. I do not know why i have this problem and how to solve it.

I can't open Threads.com or Threads.net if the Facebook container extension is turned on. If I shut it off, Threads loads fine. If I'm already on Threads and turn on the extension is goes back to the Threads page with just the symbol and I can't use it. Can't sign in through Instagram or through history, either. Is there a work around for this?

As above--I have tried recommended methods ie manage bookmarks<save to HTLM file<import/export --I can send HTML file to new pc via email but cannot get it any further what am I doing wrong or failing to do? Not exactly a whiz kid but know a little about this (obviously not enough!) </p>

Hello, I freshly installed my new computer and so my thunderbird version is now newer than before. I use Debian 12 with Thunderbird and Firefox 128.13.0esr now. I do unfortunately not know which version I had before, but I think my problems come from Thunderbird version, not from Debian.

I have 2 problems with the new dialog windows of Print, Save as, Open etc.

1. e.g. when I click on "Print", the dialog window opens and my problem is the position of the Button "Print". Now it is in the upper right corner and always before it was in the lower right corner. Can I change this position of the buttons?

2. e.g. when I click on "Save as", the dialog window opens and my problem is that the field of the filename in the upper middle is much too small in width. Before when this field was at the lower middle to right, there was much more width for the filename. Can I change the width of this field?

All in all my both problems are with dialog windows, which I think are Mozilla / Thunderbird / Firefox exclusive, because in other apps there are dialog windows which look completely different. Is there a way to change the entire "optic" of the dialog windows or maybe I can prevent Mozilla apps from using their own dialogs and use my system standard dialogs?

I've been using the "Show shortcut when selecting text" feature in Firefox, where clicking the AI ​​icon after selecting text gives me quick options like "Quiz me," "Explain this," etc.

But I've run into a issue: after a certain FireFox update, when I select text and pick one of those options, Firefox does open the Copilot AI sidebar (which I've set as my default), but it doesn't actually do anything after that—it just shows the Copilot new task screen without sending the selected text or performing the action.

（I don't know why Firefox recognized my system as Windows 10, but in fact my system is Windows 11.） Firefox version: 144.0 (64-bit)
