Since version 149, the search box in the address-bar has a different behavior and layout. There may be cases, when this behaviour is better, but I don't get it. In my use-case, I have got to do several more clicks to select the correct search engine with every search.

How to get the old style & behaviour back:

enter: about:config in the address-bar. confirm security question. search the entry: browser.search.widget.new and set it to 'false'

Would be great to have a checkbox in the settings and the option if you want your familiar solution changed. (add this at the bottom of the new select search-engine dropdown.)

I have DuckDuckGo as the search engine in my Firefox Browser. When I type a question in the screen box the words automatically populate in the address bar. How to fix?

I have only two installed - Google and it's copy, with a modified search query so that there is no result from AI. But periodically I notice that something has installed some other search engines. Yesterday I got a search engine that plants trees and today Amazon. I delete them, but sometimes they (or some other) appear again. I can't imagine that it was me, who accidentally installed them in a hurry (when I need to quickly find something on Google).

Hello, I recently found Ecosia search to be force-installed in firefox, and after much digging I found this to be because of a new collab between them and mozilla. However, I HATE when things gets forced upon you, its the only reason I have stuck with firefox this long.

I cant seem to find a way to remove this search option from my providers list, please instruct me on how to do this, cause if I cant, I will unfortunately have to drop firefox as my browser.

I used to be able to right click on the search drop down menu and open YouTube without typing anything. Now it requires a search. A minor inconvenience I know, but all the same.

I'm currently on Firefox Developer Edition version 136.0b6, and for some reason the search bar no longer displays the https:// header. Is it possible to turn this back on?

When I use the search engine it will not open and says "Hmm we're having trouble finding that site". My Bookmarks all work and open fine but i cannot search anything?

I have selected Duck Duck Go as my default search engine in the settings for Firefox. But when I open my Firefox browser it shows the MS Bing homepage and NO drop down box for other search engines. How can I fix this? This is an initial installation of Firefox on a new Acer Aspire computer running Windows 11.

Hi, I wonder why the "m"-function isn't working anymore. For example, when I stream movies, I often use the “m” key to mute the sound. Recently, the search function has started appearing at the bottom as well. Is there a way to turn off this new function? If I want to search something I'd like to press buttons Shift + f as before. Searches using the provided Amazon search feature found in settings will always have "tag=admarketus-20" in the url. Example: https://www.amazon.com/s?tag=admarketus-20&ref=pd_sl_ [bunch of letters and numbers] &mfadid=adm&k= [search query] Now, if this were an affiliate tag for Mozilla specifically, I would understand, but googling the "admarketus-20" tag turns up posts showing that users on various other browsers (Vivaldi, Opera, Chrome) also reporting seeing this tag popping up in their searches too. I wondered if this was due to malware, but I did a fresh Firefox installation on a newly installed Win10 machine and it happens there too. Who/what is this tag for?

Apologies for not being able to follow instructions. I went to settings/search/default search engine and selected the one I want in the dropdown. But I don't see how to save this change and now it defaults to Bing.
