I just downloaded Video DownloadHelper as an add-on to my Mozilla Firefox browser. After I finished installing it, I could not find any shortcut of any icon for me to click and use it. My purpose was to download some video clips to my desktop. I did try to click the 3-bars on the upper right corner of the menu bar to add the icon to the menu bar, but the icon was missing and I could not find it anywhere. I also checked to make sure that I have the latest version of FireFox. I did try to remove and delete Video DownloadHelper from FireFox, clear and remove all my data, cookies, history... and then defrag my hard drive, restart my desktop computer and then reinstall Video DownloadHelper. The Video DownloadHelper icon was nowhere to be found. My operating system I am using is Windows 11. There is no email, no phone number for me to contact. I hope a solution is found soon to fix and resolve that problem. Thank you very much.

My old computer is running Windows 8.1. My newer computer is running Windows 10. I have tried five different sets of instructions for moving all my bookmarks, saved logins, current tabs, etc. from the old to the newer using a memory stick, and none of them has worked.

Do the Windows versions have to be the same? Do the Firefox versions have to match?

Is there a site that tells how to do this?

My FF is set up to: - Always ask you where to save files - Open PDF in Firefox

On normal PDF links, FF opens the PDF normally without downloading (or after downloading it silently in a temporary location invisible to me). On "Force Download" links, FF downloads the PDF to the Download folder without asking where to save it. This is for example the case when clicking "Download" on a file in Gmail. If I click "Download" in Gmail on another file type that I have not set to "Open in Firefox", FF does ask me where to save it.

My expectation would be that, if the file cannot be opened in the browser, then FF would revert to the user's chosen behavior of "Always ask you where to save files".

I am having my first experience with a Chromebook and downloaded Firefox. I got a tablet version, which doesn't work well for me on a big(gish) scren with mouse and keyboard.

I see from a variety of articles across the web that I should be able to install and use a Linux version of Firefox, but I can't find info on this here on mozilla.org Which is my preferred source when it comes to Firefox :)

So: Is there a step-by-step guide to installing Linux version of Firefox on a Chromebook?

I am lost. The articles in Mozilla Support explaining how to backup and migrate my current account , after reading them, just gave me a headache. Can someone explain (in plain english) please, how I can save my passwords, bookmarks and cookies that Firefox has associated with my 8 year old Win 10 Pro desktop so I can transfer that data to a new Win 11 Pro desktop. Any and all suggestions will greatly be appreciated. Firefox and I have been running together since 2004! Thank you, The Old Guy

Every few days, Firefox makes me log back in again to my account and "create" a new profile version - the message I get is that I have launched an older version, and can only EXIT or CREATE NEW PROFILE. The problem is when I have to do this, I lose all the pinned tabs I had open, also I have to log into Gmail each time and generally set the profile up again. I can then access my bookmarks and containers but not the tabs I had open.

Is there a way to stop Firefox from forcing me to relaunch my profile each time? Its frustrating to lose the pinned data and have to log back into my Firefox profile, then Gmail, then try to figure out where I was at last. Note, the pinned tabs are not things I need to bookmark but rather a running list of tasks/things I need to complete - and unfortunately I don't know when I will be forced to launch a new profile but don't want to create a bookmark each time for temporary tabs... for example, last night I was just in the middle of planning a trip so had a few tabs open to come back to, but when I logged into my laptop this morning, I was forced to create a new profile and have lost these tabs I had pinned.

I purchased a new Dell Inspiron laptop with Windows 11 installed. I downloaded and installed Firefox and it worked very well. I installed a video editing software package and somehow it corrupted the firefox installation. I tried to uninstall firefox and re-install. However, Windows uninstaller just sits there and will not uninstall. If I click on the Firefox icon, nothing happens. I successfully uninstalled the offending software, restarted the laptop and clicked on the Firefox icon. Again, no response. I again tried to uninstall Firefox with no success. I would very much like to restore Firefox since it is a superior browser.

Thanks for your help.

Why has this started up again? Pdf files are automatically downloading to my computer when all I want to do is look at the file. So many files that now need to be trashed after looking at them. This problem has happened in the past, but was resolved, only now I am finding it happen again. I do not want to have files saved unless I want to save them, not Firefox deciding that any file I open should be saved. I have Windows 11 & Firefox Version 113.0.1. Is there a way to revert to an older version of Firefox?

Firefox Crashes Above Version 111.0.1

Need some help with Firefox crashing. System: Windows 8.1 64 Bit instilled on a Samsung SSD, 24 GB free space, 24 Gigs RAM, Firefox installed on conventional HDD (G:\) drive, 1.03 TB free space. This has been the standing configuration for many years, working with no problems.

Problems began with FF update 111.0. Any attempt to download files (.jpg or .pdf) would cause the “save” button to freeze, and after a seconds FF would crash. If an attempt was made to change a setting FF would again crash so quickly it was impossible to attempt any changes. Oddly enough, FF update 111.0.1 fixed the issue (or so I thought) and things returned to normal. I assumed whatever caused the problem had been fixed.

Unfortunately, every update beyond 111.0.1 reverts back to the same freezing and crashing behavior. I have attempted the following with all updates above 111.0.1 in an effort to correct the issue. So far nothing has worked. BTW, Brave and Chrome work just fine.

Cleared out all cache and cookies. Changed download folder Opening in safe (trouble shooting) mode Clean install(s) Disabled hardware acceleration. Putting the entire program on C:\ drive (apparently the newer FF installer does not allow custom installations any more). Checked and updated all drivers

Currently I have disabled automatic updates as none of them have the same freeze/crash issue. I am out of ideas and would certainly be glad to get any advice. At this point Brave is going to be my new default browser. Yes, I know 8.1 is no longer supported but I am not in a position to replace this PC at the moment.

Hello, volunteers! Thanks for being here. I'm having trouble migrating bookmarks from one Mac Air to another, and it comes down to Sync not working.

I have two Mac Airs, both 2020. Both are up to date. Let's call them My Mac and Work Mac. Work Mac's syncing starts, then stops immediately.

My problem is more than a week old. The latest version of Clean My Mac offered a new process of clearing out old security history. It's all on me; I didn't really look into it before I clicked the process.

All my login items and passwords disappeared from Firefox. Damn!

I thought it would be a fairly easy fix. "My Mac" and my Android both had the missing info. On the Work Mac, I went into Settings -> Sync, and clicked Sync Now. It very briefly tried to connect - and I mean, less than a second - then Sync Now went solid again. Repeated several times. Syncing just wouldn't start.

I looked at the error logs and in fact Sync hadn't worked for a month or so. I just hadn't noticed.

I tried a few fixes suggested in the forums, but nothing was truly applicable to my specific problem. Finally, frustrated, I removed and reinstalled Firefox on my Work Mac. My logins came back immediately. But the Bookmarks Toolbar is empty, except for the option to "Import Bookmarks". unless I open them from the Firefox -> Manage Bookmarks. There they are - it even says they're in the toolbar. But they're not.

And Sync still doesn't work! Same symptoms: click, attempt to connect, fail.

So my problems are twofold: - How do I get my bookmarks back into the toolbar where they belong? - How do I get syncing to work again?

The error report on each failed effort to sync is over 1000 lines long. I'll add one in a series of posts here.

I am on a work domain. I still have admin credentials but they are restricted to only some installs and no writing to USB devices. The Firefox updates don't work. I have to manually download from about:preferences General page then run the install file after it downloads. The update page says it will migrate all my settings over but it does not. Now I have the old Firefox which has been updated and the new Firefox that is also the new version. Why are there 2 versions and why did the new install not migrate all my setting and bookmarks, etc. into just one installed version ??? Should I just uninstall all Firefox's and install thru the Windows Store? Will that allow updates with my restricted admin profile?
