I have picked up a redirect virus/trojan on Firefox. It has not affected IE. Using Firefox 15.0.1

When I type something into the address bar - whether a website or a topic - it takes me to different pages other than what I specified, or a different website if I've specified a website.

Sometimes if I click a 2nd time it brings me to the correct place or to Google (my default Search engine).

Sometimes it does this even if I type the topic into the Google search bar which I have on the right of the address bar, rather than into the address bar at the top of the page.

I've done complete scans with my realtime antivirus, avast! free antivirus, as well as a boot scan with it, and also complete scans with MBAM, Super AntiSpyware, and TDSS Killer. All have found nothing (except Super AntiSpyware, which found a bunch of tracking cookies which the others didn't deem important - but I did delete these).

Any solution would be appreciated.

Would simply delete and reinstall solve this?

I have been using Firefox for several years and have enjoyed it, first off; however, I have become aggravated enough with the last 2 updates to ditch it, if it can't act right.

I have tired to uninstall that pesky Iminent search, followed instructions for removal, only to find it is NOT in my program line up so I cannot uninstall it !! What do I do now? I have totally taken Firefox 9.01 out, hoping it would allow me to get rid of this pesky, obtrusive thing that keeps coming up rather than my home page ! I do not like it !! I want rid of it.

Also with my last 2 updates or upgrades, I lost the very best program add on I had, "Norton Toolbar" !! It kept all my accounts ids log in information, and gave me info about the pages I was in doubt about. Now I have Norton 360, 5.0, have had it updated so I could run it on this 9. and 9.01, and it isn't even in the line up for add on. I was even using Firefox as my default most of the time, now there is no way I will with this going on.

Firefox is running very slowly now. Videos on all sites take forever to load, if they load at all. & games are choppy & run in slow motion. Firefox is also often completely unresponsive, & randomly freezes when typing comments, clicking links, etc. I had some problems before, but since upgrading to Firefox 13, it's been ridiculously bad. I even called my internet provider, Charter, cause I thought it was somethin they were doin. Their Speed Test is one reason I know it's not them. When I run the Speed Test using Windows IE, I get these results: http://speedtest.ookla.com/result/1702077109.png When I run that same test through Firefox, I get these results: http://speedtest.ookla.com/result/1702070678.png I've already tried several things to fix this, including a complete uninstall/re-install.

On all other computers that I use Firefox on, when I type something into the address bar it will search google and give me the results, EXCEPT my own.

My ISP is Time Warner Cable, and they hijack my address bar searches to using a ton of yahoo's sponsored results and it is highly annoying.

I have went to the about:config, pulled up the keyword.url string and put in "http://www.google.com.my/search?q=" however this still does not fix my problem. I have even went to help>troubleshooting information> and then reset Firefox back to default, and then even did about:config and put in google for my keyword.url again. This still didn't work and Time Warner still hijacks my searches and uses yahoo... HELP PLEASE! Thanks

I have Windows XP v 5.1, Service pack 3. Flash v 10,3,183,5 installed. I went to Adobe's Install Flash Player, download the file, click on Run and then get a script error which stalls the process. Selecting Yes or No does not change anything. The install/run just hangs. By the way, I was able to download the latest flash via IE, so something is going on with FireFox. What do I need to do to eliminate this script error as follows?

IE Script Error An error has occurred in the script on this page. Line: 1 Char: 14486 Error: 'o.1' is null or not an object Code: 0 URL: http://127.0.0.1:1302/app/_js/index.js

Firefox is installed on my work computer (v16 on windows XP). When I go to any unsecure website, I get a request for a username and password from a proxy. I don't have one, so I press "cancel." I get the following message (I put the asterisks in):

"This Page Cannot Be Displayed

Authentication is required to access the requested web site ( *******-webproxy ). A valid user ID and password must be entered when prompted.

If you have questions, need assistance with your login information, or feel this is an error, please contact your corporate network administrator and provide the codes shown below. Notification codes: (1, WWW_AUTH_REQUIRED, *********-webproxy)"

The website in the address bar is: http://*******-webproxy/B0000D0000N0001F0000S0002R0004/http://www.whatever.com/

This started after it upgraded (to which version, I don't remember). I also had another version of firefox installed to my "Local Settings" directory since I can't (un)install programs on the computer. That one was working fine until I upgraded to v.15 or v.16 (or maybe 14... I don't remember), and then I started getting the warning screen for an untrusted connection whenever I went to a secure website (https), I had to confirm a security exception, etc. And even then some pages only appeared as text.

I uninstalled that version, and then installed 17b4, and I'm back to the same problem as the original firefox: unsecure websites always seem to be redirecting through a proxy, and secure ones always tell me the connection is untrusted and I have to confirm an exception. I have "No proxy" selected in the network options. I tried v16 with the same results.

I would love to be able to just go to a website and not have to confirm security exceptions or get web proxy errors.

Internet Explorer works fine, btw.

But, it is leaving add-ons, etc, and it's reloading them on reinstall and I don't want that. I went into all folders (some are not allowing access even though I have admin. rights) and removed all FF folders I could find and when I reinstall FF all that is still there. I don't want that - I want a CLEAN install. I checked the options not to save any personal stuff on uninstall as well. How do I completely remove everything and install a clean copy of FF with no add ons, extentions, personal settings etc?

I am doing this because for some reason I am getting redirect attempts like crazy during searches and visits to some sites and a ton of popups on those pages. Pop ups are not as bad now but I have spent the last two days with Malware techs who have found no reason for these problems and finally told me to try a fresh FF install. Well currently my tech guy is in NewJersey and without power now due to hurricane Sandy, so I am looking for the info on doing this here. He may be without power for a week or more.

When I click anywhere on any web page I happen to have up, another tab will open up. It's not another window, just another tab in the same window. It never loads all the way and it remains just a blank white page. The title thing in the tab spot just says "loading". The URL always has something to do with click tracker in it. This is the most recent one that popped up: http://123srv.com/ads-clicktrack/click/newjump1.do?affiliate=63801&subid=1049789&terms=how%20to%20remove%20pop%20up%20blocker%20shelleyirishdance.com%20shelley%20school%20of%20irish%20dance%20utah%20kristina&ai=k7r7ZxYUPfD2QHmxafUC3FKj_Zpi6ZZyCafgoE4aT5BmsVftS--JZbE7nx_ue8pgiV8REg8qtd4nlCcP_TsuYxqvCPXUr7EEp6T4FLomBS9gE6vTW4h3dLhOG67xkTp42m9H4NkVGLAwLpSGNwMGtsOLZiu-tOhMwKvlVq1khSfnAo4OJ4T6K-l9MiMf6M4VJznqciRN2QAsnn7GuCcMM1IF4g7Nb0a0o_wZtbVVzyEmVq7ekBlN2gq77LjOU6YpOoyGwo7fObZt71K-hNxRzE37g1IBVcXdZZuUZCx3xT0MmZ2DdJwXRWRVDkaqnoziyxf-QxvHoeru19uOKD_7USXpExraoTb0vChyRc1jvxiBLUOXnV2DBGNcIRNtZp4pRYvkO3aJqoZ4lEL7tqTjvSx2oZEhYIsj&version=1.1 It doesn't pop up every time I click on something, but it happens quite frequently and it's really annoying. I also have an ad tab that pops up on the right side of every page I open. It has an options setting to have it never appear on that site again, but I don't want to do that to every single site I go to. There is also an ad search thing that will appear within the text of the page, it's called Mega Search or something. It has a close button but it doesn't go away completely. Ad Blocker Plus is activated and they still show up. The pop-up blocker is activated and they still show up. Is there any way to get rid of this?

Your system installed an add-on called "SPECIAL SAVINGS" without my authorization or request. There is no DELETE or DISABLE button. I want this thing gone.

As I have been using Firefox for years, I hope that my only option to get rid of this ILLEGAL SALES TOOL is not the deletion of Firefox from all of the computers in our company. However, if that is the only method of removing this thing, I WILL!

While it is an annoyance to force all of our people to learn a new browser, PUSH SALES ADD-ON's which were NOT REQUESTED or AUTHORIZED are far worse.

Hopefully you will be able to tell me how to get rid of this thing.
