I'm trying to remove the "recommended stories" section of the new tab page. Using the pencil button, I can toggle off the "recommended stories" button. But it doesn't stay off! After toggling off, if I open a new tab or even relaunch Firefox, the toggle is back on.

I opened Firefox this morning and all of my pinned shortcuts have disappeared. Shortcuts are enabled in the settings. I checked the browser.newtabpage.pinned pref on the about:config and all of my pinned shortcuts are not there
