I have have just come across this information and have no idea what add on it is referring to. I'm not one that uses much in the way off add ons. Here I am, 79 next month. I have only my desktop PC. I don't own/use a mobile phone, ipad or any other devices. I use my PC for emails and using the net for research, general information, buying products, ecards etc. I play a couple of games, Lovatts puzzles (3 games), jigzone, word wipe from Washington Post. If I have taken on/used an add on it was with limited knowledge and it certainly was not my intention to cause any problem. Does the block also mean that I am not protected from viruses or malware etc? Please let me know the outcome of your decision. Thanking you in advance. Kind regards, Rhonda Macrae. rhondamacrae46@gmail.com

Hello, I am suffering from an odd issue when using twitch.tv. In short, when viewing peoples streams, my video feed will usually turn into colorful static (aka "clown vomit"). I suspect that the issue is coming from Firefox, but I can't be certain. I am using a newly-bought laptop and the issue could be caused by a large number of things, theoretically. Here is what I know:

  • When viewing on twitch.tv with quality 360p or higher, the video feed will usually (95%) become colorful static within 1 minute or less. When this happens, the video feed does not ever recover until page is refreshed or quality is changed. (I know a bit about video encoding, so this seems extremely odd to me, if it were due to a networking thing that lost some packets, a full-image frame should come alone sooner or later and fix things, but that never seems to happen)
  • The video feed is far less likely to become corrupted when viewing at 160p, but can still happen.
  • The ads may become corrupted in the same way that the main video feed can.
  • When the feed is corrupted, the rest of the Twitch interface (pause/play, volume, quality select) is extremely laggy.
  • When the feed is corrupted, if I pause the stream, sometimes the paused corrupted image is not completely stationary! There will be flickering in small portions of the image, looking similar to texture fighting in 3d rendering, flickering between two equally-but-differently corrupted versions of the image
  • The issue never appears when using Chrome to watch twitch.tv. This is what makes me think Firefox is the culprit, not Twitch or networking or graphics drivers.
  • Disabling my browser addons does not help.
  • Private browsing window does not help.
  • Clearing my browser cache does not help.
  • I have had the issue happen on Youtube exactly once in 2 weeks, not sure if that's related or not, I think it was a normal "lost some network traffic but fixed itself the next time a full frame was received" thing.
  • Video live streams on Youtube don't get corrupted the way they do on Twitch.

Can someone please give me advice for how to fix this? Has anyone seen anything like this before? Is there a way for me to get deeper under the hood of either Twitch or Firefox and more closely debug the video stream when it fails?

I've always used Firefox, always updated. Recently, some videos on YouTube don't play, but only a few... and videos sent via WhatsApp Web too, they don't play. But this only happens when I use a specific Wi-Fi network. On all the others, everything works 100%. The place where I use this specific Wi-Fi network is where I work, at home it works normally. Any idea how to solve this? On all the other browsers everything works normally. Sometimes the videos that don't play...if I close the tab and open a new one, they play...

For about a year I have, several times, tried to use a link or a pop up that doesn't work in Firefox but can be accomplished in Safari. Today, I used a credit card to pay for something on the UFT.org website. It worked. I needed to make another purchase on the same website and page but I got a message that there was an error with my credit card info. I tried again. I tried another credit card. I signed out and back in and repeated everything and still got the same message. I copied the url, went to Safari, pasted the url, entered my info and was successful in making the payment. I am using Firefox 133.0.3. What might be happening to cause these problems?

Hi,

We are encountering an issue with how document.referrer behaves in Firefox. In our application, we track the source of traffic using document.referrer. While this functionality works consistently in Safari and Chrome, it does not produce the expected results in Firefox most of the time. For comparison:

In Safari and Chrome, document.referrer reliably provides the referring URL, as expected.
In Firefox, the value is often empty or incorrect, leading to inconsistent tracking results.

I’ve attached a screenshot that demonstrates the issue for your reference.

Issue Details with Screenshots:

   Direct URL Open (Expected Behavior)
In the first screenshot, we directly open the URL. As expected, document.referrer is empty because there is no referrer when the URL is opened directly.
   Screenshot 1: https://app.screencast.com/hgdoASFVXaozl
   Clicking a Link (Unexpected Behavior)
In the second screenshot, we click on a link from within our site. When we check document.referrer in the file, it still shows as empty, which is incorrect. The referrer should reflect the URL of the linking page.
   Screenshot 2: https://app.screencast.com/CzJZLBUJET9XQ

This discrepancy is impacting our ability to accurately track traffic sources.

Additional Note:

I intended to report this issue on Bugzilla, but I have not received the account verification email despite waiting for 3-4 days. Without access to my Bugzilla account, I’m submitting the issue here instead.

Please let me know if you need further clarification or additional examples.

This discrepancy is impacting our ability to accurately track traffic sources. We believe there might be a bug causing this behavior and would appreciate it if your team could investigate.

Thank you for your support and looking forward to your feedback!

Greetings. I have Windows 10 Home and have used Firefox for my primary browser for many years. I recently noted that by opening Firefox and looking at my task manager it shows 14 processes running. This causes my memory usage to jump significantly from the 50's into the 70's. The performance on searches, etc. seems okay. I recently added Browser Guard and was wondering if that was the reason for the jump in memory usage. As a side note I ran an update on Onedrive and now I have a white circle with a check mark on the desktop shortcut that I use for Firefox ... Thanks to all for any assistance regarding these questions ....

Firefox just updated. Now when I go to a website, right-click a link, and choose open in a new tab or window,it does nothing. If I left-click the link I can get to it in the same window, but when I go back to the originating page, it seldom takes me to back to where I started (which is why I prefer to open a new tab.)

The right-click menu itself looks wonky: There's blank spaces at the top, far too many options appearing, most of which are irrelevant to the situation or duplicate options.

This is happening in every site I've tried. For some sites I use this means Firefox is useless.
