I’m experiencing a strange issue on Firefox where a separate blank/dark window briefly appears over the browser while I’m browsing, then disappears.

The window appears to have the Firefox icon in the top-left and what looks like a Firefox tab/address-bar interface, but there is no visible text or error message.

It happens randomly while Firefox is open, including while watching YouTube. It does not appear when Firefox is closed.

Troubleshooting already performed:

• Windows 11 cloud reinstall using Remove everything
• New Microsoft account
• Defender Offline scan clean
• Multiple malware scanners clean
• Malwarebytes Premium installed
• uBlock Origin (only extension i use) removed/tested, but the issue remained

I took a picture showing the window appearing. Is this a known Firefox issue, background Firefox process, or something else?

I created a Gmail account so I could use it to sync my mozilla browser but I tried to you it too quickly and it was temporarily blocked by google.

I submitted an appeal and they unblocked it, but since then I have been unable to receive any verification codes that are sent to that email address.

I assume it's on some kind of list that is suppressing being able to send to it.

Issue occurred on September 6:When I was running a game and updated my graphics card driver, Firefox was running in the background. My PC went completely black and became unresponsive, so I had to force‑restart the computer.

After rebooting, Firefox reverted to a brand‑new fresh‑install state. All my browser settings, login status, local profiles, browsing sessions, hundreds of open tabs and my categorized tab groups disappeared, only the welcome startup guide showed up.

I logged into my Mozilla account on my Android Firefox device. Some browsing history was synced back. However, synced history cannot restore the original tab session back‑forward page history, nor my manually sorted tab groups. All browser preferences, theme and language settings are also lost.

I originally had 4 separate local Firefox profiles on this Windows computer, isolated from each other for different work purposes. Only one profile was logged‑in to my Mozilla account and could partially sync data. The other three local profiles are completely gone. Those extra local profiles were NOT signed into any Mozilla account and were never synced to cloud storage.

In my Mozilla account’s connected devices list, there are two entries both belonging to this same computer: “MARSHAKK” and “Firefox by Administrator on MARSHAKK”, which correspond to my Firefox instance before and after the crash.

I cannot understand the community help articles about session recovery, and I’m unable to locate or restore my old local Firefox profiles and lost tab sessions by myself. Please give me assistance.

Firefox is showing me an older version of a website. When I'm opening the same site in other browser it is changes, but mozilla is still showing me previous version. what should I do to fix it?

I've been a user of Firefox for many, many years but I think I'm ready to switch to another browser. Every time Firefox updates, it deposits a shortcut on my desktop that I have to delete. I already have it installed in my start toolbar so I do not need it on my desktop. People will say "no big deal, just delete it" That is my point, I shouldn't have to, give me the option in Settings to install it or not.

I'm finding more and more sites no longer work using Firefox. I've confirmed all software is up to date, and tried different settings such as turning off ad , tracker and fingerprinting protections, but nothing works. Even sites at which I have an account have stopped working. Sometimes I can still log in to the account, on others I can't even do that. If I can log in, using the account for what it's intended such as searching for and saving lists of things or following links to saved items doesn't work. I value Firefox for it's security and privacy features, and being able to sync saved information in the account and across devices, but if a site won't all that benefit disappears.

Somehow I got signed out of my account (no idea how). I've reset the password using the account recovery key. You sent a new recovery key but I seem to have lost that before I could save it.

I have issues discerning where each of my desktop windows are. To help with this I use gtk.css styling to add a border on all of my desktop windows. For some reason, Firefox does not draw this border.

Is there any way to apply a border around the Firefox window?

I was able to get a border around the navigation area of the browser by adding a userChrome.css file but I don't see any way to do the same thing for the whole window.

Can this be done in userChrome.css? Using gtk.css styling? Any other setting or file?

I am running Firefox 155.0.1 on Ubuntu Linux 26.04.1 LTS using the Gnome 50 desktop.

I'm facing an issue with website screen responsiveness in Mozilla Firefox. A site that is supposed to be fully responsive and mobile-friendly displays properly on my 24" desktop monitor (photos, alignment, and overall design look fine). However, when opening the exact same URL in Firefox on a 13" laptop screen or a mobile device, the visual design breaks—layouts overlap and images get distorted.

Has anyone encountered this issue in Firefox with certain display scales or viewport media queries? Is there a known fix or setting in Firefox (or layout tweak) to resolve this layout breakdown on smaller screens? Any advice or troubleshooting steps would be greatly appreciated!

I realized that quite often when I restart Firefox (Developper Edition) and restore my previous session (latest occurence with 46 tabs), the window becomes invisible. It still exists, and I can even see it in the Window menu list pointing to my latest tab but it's nowhere on screen. I can add/navigate through/select/remove tabs using the keyboard, I can see them listed on screen when I Ctrl-Tab but the whole window remains invisible.

It'd be great if someone could help me out.

Hi, I recently had to restart my computer and made sure that Firefox settings were 'open previous tabs on startup' before I shut down Firefox. I had about 30 tabs open, which were important and that I could not bookmark separately in time.

After the restart, I opened Firefox to be shown a screen that said 'Your Firefox has been updated'. None of the tabs showed up, so I closed and reopened Firefox, but am just shown a blank tab.

Please help, how can I restore my previous session with all the tabs?

I really need help with it.

Firefox is screwing my display with a screen logging warning message. Removal instructions are 100% useless.

This is so annoying. I’m sure its simples if you’re a techhie, but for muppets its hopeless, I’m desperate for a solution as i cant use Firefox now

The issue with https://rutube.ru/ I contacted the website’s support team, and they said that by default, videos open without sound, but after enabling it, the sound should be available for all videos and after refreshing the page. However, the sound disappears after refreshing the page and switching to other videos. I’m using the latest version of the browser; I tried disabling all extensions and clearing the cookies on the site, and this issue doesn’t occur in other browsers.

I’m trying to find the backend email address configured for a website’s contact form using Inspect Element/Developer Tools. I’ve checked the page source and searched through the available HTML, but I’m unable to locate the email address or identify where the form submissions are being sent.

Could someone please guide me on where I should look or which files/settings I should check to find the form’s destination email?

I regularly login, via Firefox, to access NAB (National Australia Bank) accounts, through their Internet Banking selection. Over the last week/10 days this login has not worked - I get a (NAB bank) message saying "Something went wrong / try again later". Trying again later does not work. (pic.1)

I rang the bank and spent some time trying to sort out the issue. Suggestion to get a new browser page via [Ctl][Shift][P] helped part way. I did get SOME of the new "logged-in page" showing, but not all the account details - blank grey lines were fading in & out like it was waiting to load information. (pic.2)

The bank suggested trying another browser, so I tried using MS Edge and was Successful. The bank has recently updated the "look" of the screen (home page) that appears once logged in. Could there be an issue between Firefox and these new pages ?

I would prefer to be able to keep using Firefox and not Edge.
