I have some fonts that I have installed through normal methods. They are all ttf files. However, they do not show up in the firefox change fonts dialog box. Even many pre-installed fonts do not show up. Websites are only able to use the local fonts listed in this dialog box. How will I then be able to use those fonts?

How can i hide my display/screen resolution from websites? I use Firefox in windowed mode not with my default screen size but websites know my default resolution. This can be used to identify my pc. I dont want that for privacy reasons like tracking and adverstising. How can i prevent this? I found many threads/posts about this in various forums/websites. They are talking about Tor Browser and that websites can identify you if using full-screen mode. But as i said, im using Firefox not Tor and while im using windowed-mode websites still know my default resoltion. I tested this on https://whoer.net/

Another question, how can i restore the default window size in Firefox?

Since recent updates trampled on my app preferences, I have changed the setting for pdfs (about:preferences apps) back to "always ask". This works fine for some pdf links, but just gets ignored other times. For example if I click a file:///url/filename.pdf link, Firefox ignores this setting and opens the pdf in the FF pdf viewer.

Obviously, from there I can click the download icon, which brings up the "always ask" dialog so I can open it in my chosen app, but that is a pain, I use a wiki for accessing pdfs constantly.

Few days ago, I was going to update my browser to 94.0.1 when I decided to check first "what's new".

To my shock and horror, I read: "On Windows, there will now be fewer interruptions because Firefox won’t prompt you for updates. Instead, a background agent will download and install updates even if Firefox is closed".

Seriously?... this is not an "improvement". This is just a nice way to say "we are taking over the control of Firefox updates and remove all user choice in this regard".

What is the rationale for this change?

I don't allow any programs to download and install to my PC without my knowledge and permission (including Windows Updates and even Wordpress and plugin updates on my website). I decide if and when anything gets updated to avoid crashes and other computer issues, as well as to prevent installation of something I simply don't want. This includes browser updates.

Secondly, I finally managed to reduce the space between bookmark lines in menus with a workaround in the about: settings after months of struggling with the settings created for iphone users which are unworkable on my PC (the only device I ever use the browser on).

Could someone in the know confirm please that (1) this workaround will continue to work in 94.0.1 (as the release notes are suspiciously silent on this) and (2) that this option will be permanently reinstated in the browser settings with the next update.

I am not updating my browser until I get more information about the issues I have raised, using Chrome in the meantime and...indefinitely.

thanks

I looked at various tips on how to solve a RAM problem. But I don't understand why my firefox takes about 800MB of RAM after startup, but sometimes after the time of use it suddenly takes 16GB of RAM. Does Mozilla not have a tool to track which part of Firefox uses so much RAM?

Hello, I have issues with Firefox developer version for couple months now, when I play videos, like youtube, or other sites they constantly lag. They play for like 1min and lag, continue for another 2min then lag etc etc. (even short videos on twitter lag). It was not like that before and I don't have this problem in other browsers. Does anyone know what can be the problem here? Thanks

When I'm using my Firefox for too long or few couple of minutes its suddenly fronzen and stops response. So I need to restart it, killing the process using top, htop or kill commands. It has been weeks that this problem started. I waited for updates and tried reinstall it, but no futher SO updates and reinstall solved the problem, if the new Firefox release updates could put a end to this problem.

I have here some ID number of my bug report that I send to Mozilla, if someone could help understand if its a package/driver or miss configuration I would like to know.

bp-8764ac27-aa1c-4db5-831c-ae2460211031 bp-87b0281c-aae3-418e-8f45-828f20211031 bp-d01fcb65-6123-499a-a3d8-4c7950211031 bp-83d56e36-0d58-4456-a7e5-677370211031 bp-a385f497-2271-4120-bdbb-474440211031 bp-f320a744-5606-4743-87ab-763620211031 bp-4a2d704e-cf83-4eb5-8df0-c10b70211031

When press the upper right button 'x' to close, it says that my Firefox isn't respond due to: 'Firefox: Exiting due to channel error'

I don't know how to fix it or find better logs messages to discover what is happens on the Firefox. I have SO with Windows 10 and I don't have this problem at all.

I made a few changes to about:config. How can i save the about:config settings for a new Firefox installation? My bet is this is possible either with distribution-policies.json or with a HTML. I used Kali Linux, this operating system comes with a pre-configured Firefox installation. For example it uses a permanent darkmode with duckduckgo even while cookies are denied. It also comes with customs about:config settings like disabled telemetry.

I'm on an Mac Big Sur and after updating today to Firefox 94, the usual behavior of being able to click once in either the search bar or the URL block to select all the text is no longer functioning.

This is not a small inconvenience, but a major issue for me.

Do others on MacOS have this problem? Do others on other OS have it? I am assuming (hoping) that it's merely a key in about:config that's been flipped, but don't know for sure.

Any help is gratefully appreciated. Thanks.

Good afternoon!

We need to add a "Saved Password Exception" to Firefox on several remote computers on our network (Non-Domain). We do not want to block the saving of all passwords, but want to specify a few websites to never ask or prompt to save.

I was hoping I could do this with Mozilla.cfg or Policies.json, and distribute it over the network to each PC. All I have found is a way of blocking all site password save-prompts with "signon.rememberSignons" in the Mozilla.cfg.

Any suggestions on how to set exceptions for specific sites with either using the Mozilla.cfg or Policies.json? Otherwise I may need to edit the firefox configuration manyally on each PC.

Suggestions?

Thanks everyone!

I've been using Firefox on a new laptop for a few days now. I didn't have an account yet, added bookmarks and all that stuff.

Today I out of nowhere got the notification that "Firefox got updated in the background. Please restart the browser to continue". I closed Firefox, tried to reopen it and get a message saying "You are trying to start an older version of Firefox. In order to protect your data, please sign in with a new account." (All messages freely transcripted as I didn't screenshot them).

So here I am, browser reset, bookmarks gone and I have no idea what actually happened. I now created an account in order to at least save my bookmarks to the cloud and prevent such unnecessary loss in the future, nevertheless I'd like to know why this happened and if/how this can be prevented?

Did Mozilla withdraw the update to version 94?
