when i pull up a log in page firefox always wants to fill in my log in name. i went to the settings page and firefox says that i have no saved log ins. how do i clear my log in name or stop firefox from trying to fill it in for me.

Is there a preference in about:config to fake or simply block websites from reading the font-list of my operatingsystem? I think it is pretty ridiculous anyways that websites can access this information since it has nothing todo with the webbrowser visiting the site but going beyond to spy on information that i consider private.

Same question goes for audio-readout, is there a pref to fake or block?

Last Saturday, I was able to sign in to Firefox Add-Ons Firefox Add-Ons and submit a pre-release of an add-on I'm working on. But today, I'm being forced to enable 2FA to simply log in to the site. I don't want to enable 2FA, I just don't need it. Can someone explain me why is this happening ? Can I just log in and submit my add-on's update ?

I've tried to sign in two different MacBooks (M1 12.1 and Yosemite 10.10.5), using two different Firefox versions (99.0.1 and 78.15.0esr). Also, I haven't enabled 2FA in my personal account.

Since the update that changed the cookie management, I have not been able to delete just my cache without losing all my cookies & login information. I'm no longer able to automatically sign into a bunch of my sites.

Hi, I tried to download a script but Firefox warned me it had a virus / malware. So I immediately put it in trash, emptied trash, restarted my Macbook and used Bitdefender to scan my Mac. Fortunately it detected no viruses. So I think I'm good (Hopefully!)

But, every time I open Firefox now, a little window appears at the top showing my last download and telling me it had a virus or malware - I'm posting a screenshot of this. I removed it from my history, and cleared the preview panel, but it still pops up. To be clear, this only happens when I completely close Firefox and reopen it, not when I just open new windows or tabs.

How can I get it to stop popping up with this message? Also - one other oddity, each time I open Firefox, it says the time this script was downloaded matches the time I open Firefox (as opposed to when I actually downloaded the pdf - about an hour ago)

An error occurred during a connection to www.facebook.com. SSL_ERROR_DC_EXPIRED What in the world? does Facebook not keep up with its own security? or is this a Firefox thing?

Can websites i visit track my browsertheme for example system default or light or dark theme? I like the dark theme but i'm not using it because i fear it makes my browser much more unique, is that so? If so, is there a preference or another way to prefent websites from tracking my browser theme?

I forgot my password to my Firefox account, and only just realized I haven't updated it in KeypassXC when I was trying to log in to a new machine. It seems that, even though I am already logged in on my old computer and have full access to my account (including saved passwords, bookmarks, and browsing history) I can't find a way to reset my password without deleting all of my synced data. From the "Change Password" menu, it requires my old password if I want to change it without deleting everything. Also, I have 2FA enabled, so why isn't there the option to authenticate my identity in a password reset using 2FA instead of my old password? I know a similar thing already exists for recovery keys, but I only have 2FA. Is there any way for me to reset my password where I don't lose everything? Thank you.

I opened Firefox as usually, but passwords are missing, only logins are available. There is also a file called logins.json-1.corrupt in the profile folder.

Renaming it back to logins.json with restarting the computer does not work.

There are no previous versions of these two files available in the system.

Please let me know how I can recover passwords, may be with a special software.

For years I’ve had no difficulty accessing online my HSBC bank accounts in UK using Firefox. In recent days they have changed their security access method whereby their site now requests a security number generated on one’s phone using the HSBC App (it used to be a random number from an HSBC supplied handheld device) which then has to be input via my Windows 10 PC to access my data. If I use Microsoft Edge as browser, everything works fine, but when I try Firefox my system just hangs after I’ve put my bank ID into the HSBC opening page (the first security step) and simply never opens the next HSBC page which would ask me to generate the said code on my phone. Seems a browser related problem. Any ideas why Edge works but Firefox does not?

Hi there. I'm in the process of switching from Chrome and I want to import my passwords.

I first tried the 'import from Chrome' option - it says it's successful, but nothing has actually been added. Same result after several attempts.

I then tried the csv route. I found out I had to change the config settings, so I did just that, but the 'import CSV' option still isn't showing even after a reset.

So now I'm at a dead end. Any bright ideas please? TIA!

FYI I'm using Firefox 99.0.1

Ver 100.0 Settings:Startup:Open previous windows and tabs is UNCHECKED. But every time I open Firefox, it opens the last site I had open before I closed it.

This worked before ver 100 and suddenly has stopped working with ver 100.

I even rebooted the computer (Win 10, 64-bit) and same behavior continues.

I haven't had to sign in for a while, so tonight when I tried and I typed the password in correctly the box just immediately closes and reopens like its incorrect. I have tried locating the key3.db and key4.db which I can't find on my system, nor can I find the login.json that is supposed to have the log of passwords to back them up. I don't have any 3rd party password managers and I've tried with my VPN disconnected. I've used the password generator to secure some of my websites so I don't even know was some of my passwords are, so resetting the primary password would be a huge hassle. If someone could please help me out I would be very appreciative. Thanks!

I have autofills and login savings disabled, but browser still seems to be saving form data including usernames. How do I disable browser saving any form inputs altogether?

It appears web sites can track my activity on their site. How do I make it so a given web site can't track me? Does Firefox have a setting that makes it more difficult to track me on a given web site? I've seen where a VPN, not sure what that is, can be of big help. How do I initiate a VPN and are there free VPN's? When I visit this particular site it states, "from your site login activity" and goes on from there what they want to do. How do I make it more difficult for a web site to be able to track my log in activity? Will a VPN solve this problem? Or, does Firefox have various accessories that can do the same thing? I know deleting cookies with this particular site does not solve the issue for me. Can someone help? Thank you.

I don't mean "saving" login information for later use, that I do not want to do. What I mean by the login not being retained is that when I log-in to a website like say Amazon, while I'm browsing, I end up having to re-enter my login information pretty much every other time that I switch between pages. I've never had an issue like that with any other browser. Is there some setting I need to adjust to stop that from happening? As I said, I'm not looking to save my passwords and usernames within the browser, I just want to effectively browse a website after logging into it without needing to login every time I move between pages. I dont care what you are going to say to make it sound okay, it is NOT OKAY AT ALL. Mozilla Firefox supposed to be a Privacy Browser is not making business with Meta -> Facebook, lately i really question the mental health of Mozilla, first a unique identifier, now a partnership with zucking facebook, what's next? Let me tell you something, if you are a privacy company then get the zuck away from companies who don't give a damn zuck about privacy -> facebook, mozilla can NOT simply make a deal with facebook and claim "oh dont worry it's ok your privacy is secure, bullsh!t.

You know what, i have been using Firefox since i first accessed the internet with a webbrowser, now hear this -> one more negative thing from mozilla and that's it, bye mozilla you have lost your way.

While this is only me speaking here, MANY people have already quit firefox because of what mozilla has been doing recently. Continue what you are doing now, and soon your greatest product -> firefox will be dead. When privacy partners with tracking & spyware this is the definition of suicidal behaviour. I really worry about Mozillas Mental Health lately.

I have spent hours trying to unblock a site i have previously used before your upgrade. every time its a nightmare. Why can't your program remember exceptions. I tried all the exception options. I tried adding the certificate exception and was told it was valid and did not need an exception. Why does everyone feel the need to make our lives harder with the illusion you are protecting us.
