I am a game developer. I work about 12 hours a day, in Chrome. It is my main browser. When I installed firefox, I was asked to "import" cookies and such. I did. Which has been a terrible headache. All of the bookmarks and everything from Chrome came with it, which I already had in firefox, since I've had it for years. But, I thought since this is a brand new computer that I needed to do that. Fast-forward a couple of weeks and now EVERY time I open up firefox, all 10 million history links are in history.

I use firefox to unwind and watch movies. I don't want 10 million links to work in front of where I left off in binge watching Seinfeld.

I've tried everything and followed instructions and STILL, all history from Chrome shows up in firefox. It is infuriating. AND uninstalling and reinstalling did nothing. The setting is already in the account to import from Chrome to firefox. I've removed addons and extensions as well. Nothing has worked.

The Firefox account settings page displays a list of logged in devices at the very bottom of the page (connected services).

I have verified all logged in devices to be correct. However for one of the devices (my main computer browser), the location displayed is COMPLETELY off. I live in Norway, and it claims device location is somewhere in Oregon, United States. I do not use any VPN services and both my public IPv4 and IPv6 addresses are located in Norway, from which I connect with the device/browser in question (whatismyipaddress.com shows correct location for both of them). Also, activity timestamp is updated in accordance with my own activity from the client, but the location remains wrong. I also tried logging out the device, and logging back in, but this did not fix the location.

Obviously the location service used for the logged in device list is unreliable. I suggest that you please also show the latest IP address used by each device, so that more technically inclined users can verify correct addresses themselves, should the location be way off. It is unsettling to see strange locations (for known devices) on a page used to verify the security of my Firefox account. In this instance, there is no security breach, but it required me to spend much time investigating.

I do not know if it matters, but the device in question is a Linux desktop Firefox client.

Hi, my machine choked and died on the latest Windows update. I tried every trick I know, but eventually had to admit defeat and nuke'n'boot. Most' 'of my stuff was either backed up or kept on a non-OS drive, but I needed to reinstall Firefox. When I did, I found there is a limit to how many tabs Sync willl display at once from another device. That limit is 1,271 tabs, which is not all of mine - I'm pretty sure I had more than that open in a single one' 'of my seven open windows (though probably only the one window had that many).

Also, with the new Firefox update, while I can open all 1,271 at once, that just leads to Firefox crashing. When similar things happened in the past, I could open, say, fifty at a time, and kill Firefox's process every time it became too much for my computer, then reopen firefox with all those tabs open but not active, however with FF 89 I only seem to be able to open one or all.

To make matters worse, those 1,271 tabs I can see seem to be randomised each time, or at least randomly ordered, so I wouldn't even be able to methodically open all 1,271 with my usual method of killing firefox and reopening it.

Is there any way I can send the 1,271 straight to bookmarks, or open the entire session from the old install, or view more than the 1,271, or open the old synced tabs view, where I could open as many or as few as I wanted to, instead of all or (basically) nothing?

Thanks!

I initially just wanted to get some ad-blocking program to keep down the volume of all the flashing ads showing up on webpages. I'm working with a new laptop computer, and my old laptop had been "tweaked" with some Mozilla extensions (?) to address this, and I wanted to get the same on my new laptop. So I opened the application menu - the 3 horizontal bar icon, top right. First thing at the top, it asks me to sign in. Honestly, I don't think I ever did this. So I used one of the many secondary email addresses I use for this type of thing, put in a password, and created an account. Up popped a screen saying, "This Firefox is connected". Then down below, it said, "Sign in to Firefox on another device to complete set-up". Ugh, really? Ok, fire up the old laptop and open up Firefox and sign in using the same email and password. Here's where I get lost - up pops a screen that says, "Connect another device". Then down below it says, "Open the code scanner on your Firefox app and show code when ready." And there's a "Show Code" button down below this. But I'm hesitant to press it, because I don't know what my code scanner is, I don't have a flatbed scanner (if that's what they're talking about), my phone is broken (part of the reason I have a new laptop today), and I don't see any Firefox apps called "code scanner", and nothing in the help community that I can find about code scanning. So what the hell? I can't be the only person who's gone down this rabbit hole...

I've bought a new Win10 PC to (eventually) replace my old one.

I've signed up for a Mozilla account on the old PC, signed into it from the new PC and the favourites, history etc have come across ok onto the new one. The saved logons however haven't.

How can I get my saved logons to sync across from the old PC to the new one?

My switch from the release version to ESR seemed to go well, but my history and many of my settings and data, including my pinned tabs and extensive notes used by add-ons, were gone. I managed to reconstruct most of them, but was distressed to find that when Fx updated my ESR version those settings were again gone.

I have again restored most of the lost settings (including the one not to automatically update!) but I know I can't defer Fx updates indefinitely, and I also expect I may want to return at some point to the release version--and I desperately don't want to have to reconstruct my settings any more (or at least more than one last time). I'm not concerned about the loss of my history

Since I'm prepared to note all my settings first, starting fresh seems like a viable solution. I just need to know how (unless you can suggest a better option). I'd be happy with either the release or ESR channel.

When I try to reset the primary password, I can get a new password - the only problem is that this new password is not accepted when I try set a new login into a web site. It looks like there are two different passwords: one for "Firefox Accounts" and one for "Firefox Logins". How to reset the latter one when they differ. There is a kind of deadly embrace! Not to forget that the access to the support can be on the same email address with a totally different password.

Is a start from scratch with a completely new profile a possible solution?

I have a laptop that I used from 2012 to 2015, and sometimes I start it up in order to check my Firefox history and find some URL that I visited once. Today when I tried that, I couldn't get the history. Ctrl+Shift+H didn't work, and when I hit the History menu, the option "Show All History" was gray. What should I do?

I opened the profile folder and saw that there's a big file called places.sqlite, which I think is the history file.

I did set up Sync once, though it didn't seem to do anything -- the history was still what it was when i stopped using that laptop. But I notice today that if I start to type in the address bar a URL that I have used recently on my present laptop, then it suggests the whole URL. In other words, it knows what I've been doing recently on my present laptop.
