Even with just 1 tab open, Firefox is killing my laptop battery.

Win 11 PC laptop.

In background, it is using 40% to 50% of the laptop battery. I need much better performance from it. I have already turned off any settings I can find regarding Firefox's background functions. When I quit Firefox I want it completely off.

How can I do that?

Hello, I'm on Firefox Nightly 152.0a1 running on a freshly installed new Windows 11 version. I've used Firefox exclusively for my whole life and everything has always been smooth until a few days ago. Firefox started (and continues) to freeze for a second or two pretty regularly, each time I use the search bar for example, open a new tab, while a page is loading (which is very slow at the moment) but also scrolling on a page for example. During the freezes, the temperature of my CPU also increase by approximately 20°C. CPU usage in task manager shows that it is quite high, 10x higher than Edge that I opened for comparison only : https://i.imgur.com/enuMMZl.png.

I have sought the internet for advice but nothing changed this behaviour. I updated my computer through Windows Update, my drivers through Driver Booster, I disabled hardware acceleration on Firefox, I removes all AI components with zoicware/RemoveWindowsAI on GitHub, I changed dom.ipc.processPriorityManager.backgroundUsesEcoQoS on about:config to false but nothing cured the problems.

I'm out of solutions and I don't know if I should be waiting for another Nightly build (usually there's about 1-2 a day but 152.0a1 is sticking since a few days and there isn't any update available since, seemingly), if there's others energy economy parameters I could play with on Windows 11 that I don't know about or if something else is in the way. I've uninstalled every profile and installation of firefox. All addons are gone.

Upon reinstalling regular firefox, doing refresh, and syncing my account, the browser immediately freezes.

This issue has started within the past week. I've not done any major changes to my computer or firefox in general. Edge browser does not have this issue.

about:processes also freezes, making troubleshooting difficult.

I'm currently running firefox without syncing at the moment, but this isn't an ideal long term solution.

I am on a new PC with Windows 11, using 4 monitors. I keep trying to figure out what is making my mouse and sometimes the keyboard behave sluggish (freezes for a moment). I have takes all suggestions that AI has suggested but it is still happening. Do you have any thing for me to try? It appears to be only when Firefox is running.

About two weeks ago, Firefox started randomly hanging and would stop responding. It wouldn't let me close the program and I always have to restart my system to resolve the problem. Sometimes it only takes a few minutes after restart before it hangs, other times it will be fine for hours.

I've tried multiple solutions I've found online, carefully following instructions: clearing cookies and cache, disabling all extensions, refreshing firefox, creating a new profile, deleting specific files within the Profiles folder, etc.

I've yet to make it more than four hours without the program hanging.

Any assistance or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I am on Windows for ARM devices and running Firefox 142.0.1 (aarch64). When I use Firefox for any extended period of time, I'll start to notice these blank icon pages accumulating when I hover over the icon on my taskbar. Nothing happens if I hover or click on any of them and clicking the 'x' on the right will not close them. They stay even after I close the browser and until I restart the computer. Has anyone seen this issue and know of anything that could fix this? I hesitate to reinstall right now, as I'm not signed into a Firefox account on this browser (this is my work computer). I appreciate any and all replies. Thank you!

My Firefox 150.0.3 (64-bit) in Windows 11 on a Dell 9310 locks up when the XPS is put sleep and awakened after 5-minutes or so. No recent Extensions or Add-ons have been installed. I have yet to delete and reinstall Firefox, maybe that's the next stop. I just can't find the problem with my limited tools and experience. Thanks, and appreciate the help.

I use a Lenovo Legion 5 laptop pc and a second Samsung monitor. When the screens go to sleep with Firefox open on the second monitor, the second screen will not wake up again instantly. It can take up to 5 minutes or only after rebooting.

When I close the Firefox window on the second screen from the taskbar on the laptop, the second screen lights up again.

Any ideas?

Hi, I use a website called Slickdeals which has a lot of thumbnail photos showing the product on the homepage.

Firefox seems to have a problem with it where Chrome does not.

Scrolling fast throws it off...the screen turns white and I have to wait for the images to load. Also, the scrolling tends to get choppy while using my touchpad scroll.

I've tried disabling hardware acceleration, disabling smooth scrolling, and clearing cache/history.

Sometimes the cursor lags about a second from the arrow to the hand pointer on links to click.

I have fast FIOS internet and a laptop with 16 GB RAM.
