This morning I re-installed an update to Zoom (on Linux - ElementaryOS / Ubuntu 18.04). Since installing, I've not been able to follow links from Firefox to Zoom (zoommtg links don't open the app). However, they still work from Epiphany.

The slight confounding factor is that I realised that I've been updated to FF 104 overnight, so that might be an issue.

I've been looking at network.protocol-handler.... settings in about:config, based on this article: https://superuser.com/questions/1343020/how-to-configure-firefox-open-zoom-urls-using-zoom-application#1351073

I've also been looking at xdg-settings (based on this article) https://www.reddit.com/r/kde/comments/i83m8i/zoom_desktop_client_isnt_launching_from_browser/ which suggests the problems might be to do with xdg-settings calling /usr/share/applications/zoom.desktop when the available file is /usr/share/applications/Zoom.desktop However, I have not been able to alter the xdg-settings parameter - when I try: $ xdg-settings set default-url-scheme-handler zoommtg zoom.desktop it does not change the setting - it remains as Zoom.desktop

I should mention that the version of FF I'm running is delivered as a snap - but this was not a problem before 104 / my latest Zoom installation. Also, this version of FF has no problem opening up MS Teams meetings or Slack groups. handlers.json includes : ... "slack":{"action":4},"snap":{"action":4},"zoommtg":{"action":4},"msteams":{"action":4}}, .... so I am thinking the problem must lie somewhee else.

Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

thanks Andy

I have used Firefox to access a site for an online bank, Synchrony. I was able to establish an account at this site and access my information. Now I sometimes can use the site but more often receive an error message, "Access Denied You don't have permission to access "http://auth.synchronybank.com/account/login" on this server. Reference #18.d4eb7068.1649606742.54b71ed."

When I spoke with someone in the Tech Support group for the bank she said the problem was with Firefox and not something they could address. I am able to get to my account using Microsoft Edge, as I have to to get to another site, Shockwave.com.

I much prefer using Firefox than switching browsers for certain sites. I would appreciate if someone at Mozilla investigate these anomalies and determine the appropriate fox within the app. I don't know what changes were made in Firefox when it was updated to my current version, 99.0 64-bit.

Thank you.

Hi: I've used Firefox for years without trouble and I've even given money! However, I think the last update has prevented my banking site from operating correctly. In Bill payment you choose who you want to pay and fill in the amount. This still works. I move to the month, day, year boxes. If I click, say, on the month box I get a dropdown but selecting the month nothing happens. Ditto with day and year. The day box shows 1 and the year shows 202 and nothing changes when using the drop downs. Can't manually fill in the boxes. At first I thought it was my bank but they said there were no reported problems - they would! So tried Brave and Edge. Both worked perfectly. Tried it on my laptop rather than desktop and same problem using Firefox showed up. I hadn't fiddled with any Firefox settings. What to do? Thanks Donald

Why is firefox automatically downloading strange files I've never seen before? (MEUIVFJ-.htm and 3tHMwYhc) They look a little untrustworthy. My download dropdown suddenly showed me that one had been downloaded, and then a while later the other one was downloaded. Are these actual Mozilla files? Or are they some kind of scam/trojan/spyware? I just realized that two were downloaded last month as well.

Hi,

I'm trying to access my Apple ID (appleid.apple.com). When I select "Sign In" the page hangs and never displays the fields to enter my user name and password. The message I get is "This action could not be completed because of an error. Try again or check back later."

Under Settings > General > Network Settings I selected No proxy and I disabled DNS over HTTPS. But neither of these actions made a difference.

Eventually, I had to use Microsoft Edge to access my account.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Following site is immediately hijacked to a scam site asking for login apparently to access private info. It happens with Firefox (only) whenever security setups are set "not to track", "not to prompt for passwords", "not to prompt for credit cards" "no history" "reset of cookies at logout" etc.. then the site below: http://thaimassage-herborn.de/ is redirected to SCAM SITE: https://xb7.serverdomain.org/admin/index.php appearing as "Adminpanel" asking for Login etc..

At the same time following site is partially blocked on the news banner pictures, with a white sheet over them, whenever down scroll is hit. https://www.tgrthaber.com.tr/

Only by resetting firefox deals with the issues. But ofcourse with the reason, above security settings removed.

Virusscanner was not able to detect this hijacking or the reason behind.

Is this a firefox software issue? Is there a way to resolve this? Thank you already for any support or suggestions to resolve.

Since Firefox 98, whenever a file is downloaded or a page is captured (using add-on Page Saver WE) a display/pop-up appears in the top right-hand corner of the screen (or possibly under the 'Display Download Progress 'button'). Previously, this prompt/display/pop-up would disappear after a few seconds. Now it stays there until there is a mouse click anywhere on the screen (including outside the Firefox window). This is presumably a bug and it is also extremely irritating. Please change this back to the way it used to be (disappearing after a few seconds) or provide an option to specify how long the prompt/display/pop-up should be visible - like the 'new mail' prompt from Thunderbird. Many thanks.

Hello, I listed this is the "Other" section because it involves more than just installation of Firefox. I am using version 97.0.2 and will be installing the most current version within a day or so. I have NO issues with the current version, nor expect any with any future updates I install. With that being stated I will ask my question...

I have a CCTV setup at my home that have the feature of web remote viewing and control. I don't use any other browser other than Firefox...have uninstalled both IE11 and Edge, blocking Edge from being reinstalled. I can NOT use the CCTVs remote web feature because their software is out-dated and I suspect unsupported any longer. I have already downloaded and installed the Firefox required web plug-in but the version of Firefox is TOO NEW. The Software suggested that I install an older version of the 32-Bit Firefox, version 56 or 57 if my memory is correct...

I current Firefox is 64-Bit, installed on the C Drive. Can I install a second Firefox, 32-Bit on perhaps my D or E Drive without corrupting my 64-Bit install and profile? I understand that doing so, and using the older version then there would be a security issue fore prolonged browsing. But, when using this older version to access my CCTV...once done, I would no longer browse with that older version of Firefox. A temporary and quick solution. A 10 minute browsing in a once in a great while exception.

Your feedback and support would be greatly appreciated?
