On ubuntu oracular 24.10, when firefox is launched, it tries to open a UDP listening port on all network interfaces which is not acceptable on many levels:

/usr/bin/netstat -tunpevaW|grep firefox udp 0 0 0.0.0.0:48654 0.0.0.0:* 1000 881247 178766/firefox

Is this behavior specific to Ubuntu or is it implemented by design? This must be a no go by design: if it needs a UDP port for some reason, it has to open it on the **loopback interface (127.0.0.1)** only.

I get the USPS informed delivery emails that show what mail is arriving daily. Whenever I click the "dashboard" link, I get:

Bad Request

Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand. Size of a request header field exceeds server limit. If I go to the site, and click a link, the same thing happens. This doesn't happen with Chrome where links function normally. So, I think there must be a setting somewhere preventing me from accessing the links. I tried turning off "Block pop-up windows," but that had no effect.

Thanks, Ed

This has been a problem for me for a very long time, and I'm tired of having to use Chrome every time there's an update to Firefox.

The issue I have is that I will get the notification saying there's an update. I click the button to update now, the browser opens the auto download page and I get a not secure connection warning. The only work around I've found is to use Chrome, and sometimes I can use the "Other downloads" option.

I'm not running a VPN, or any other networking software on my pc. This is for the full program, not the Windows Store app.

Is there a way to make the URL high lighting of the domain more obvious? I find that most people can barely see the highlighting and I'd like to make it obvious (bolder and red, or highlighted in yellow, for instance.)

Can this be done via userchrome.css?

Thanks,

Hello,

Hopefully this is something that can get answered quickly. These past few days I have not been able to use FireFox on my laptop.

It doesn't seem to be a wifi connection issue because other browsers work and other devices are connected just fine.

I also tried opening FireFox in the "troubleshoot" mode, but I am still receiving the same errors. I would appreciate any help I can get on this issue.

Below is a screenshot of the error I keep receiving.

Thanks,

- Samuel

When I open firefox in a virtual machine with Parrot and try to search for something in the search engine I get the following:

Hmm. We're having trouble finding that site.

We can't connect to the server at start.parrotsec.org.

If you entered the right address, you can:

   Try again later
Check your network connection
Check that Firefox has permission to access the web (you might be connected but behind a firewall)

and I can't do anything.

For the past few weeks Firefox has been crashing and freezing often. Crashes are worst when trying to access Protonmail, which almost always crashes the tab instantly. Freezes happen most often when browsing Reddit, and also when watching Youtube, but crashes and freezes can happen on almost any website.

I have tried changing profiles, refreshing and uninstalling/reinstalling, but the problem persists and seems to be getting worse over time.

Here are some recent crash reports:

For no apparent reason I suddenly found that I could no longer browse via duckduckgo or Google (but could through Edge!). The on-screen response just informed that the sites were not available. I had no idea what could have caused this but a Microsoft fault search identified it is a DNS problem. I prefer to use the duckduckgo and need to resolve the DNS situation. Is this a Firefox problem, and if so, how do I fix it while still maintaining security?

i'm trying to use policies.json to whitelist pages user can visit. When I apply changes, after browser restart I see it reacts (I use correct file), I use the template of: { "policies": { "WebsiteFilter": { "Block": ["<all_urls>"], "Exceptions": [ ....

here is see on adding an exception item - it is allowed, on removing it is not. I have a system running on http://localhost:8090. I tried multiple patterns and none of them allowed me entering my page: "*://localhost:*/*", "*://127.0.0.1:*/*", "http://127.0.0.1:8090", "http://localhost:8090", "*://www.localhost:*", "*://www.localhost:*/*", "http://localhost:8090", "http://localhost:8090/*", "https://localhost:8090/", "https://localhost:8090/*", "localhost:8090", "127.0.0.1:8090",

when changing: "Block": ["<all_urls>"], to "_Block": ["<all_urls>"],

I can open my page. I checked in console if there are any requests to other domains/ports - no. It makes single GET request to http://localhost:8090. What am I doing wrong?
