Hi,
two days ago, video embeds on Twitter stopped working in Firefox. Please help me troubleshoot the issue, so that I can either fix it myself, or present enough evidence to file a proper bug report.
Affected version: FF 140 ESR. I had some 140.7 installed when the error first happened, but have upgraded to firefox-esr_140.10.1esr-1_amd64 since. Didn't fix the problem. *Not* a snap package, regular .deb!
Affected OS: Ubuntu 26.04 LTS, not a fresh install but upgraded from 24.04 instead (which itself was upgraded from 22.04).
Symptoms: Videos on X (and Facebook) no longer play, the preview image is there for a split second, then an error appears. Video on for example Youtube is fine, though. Local players like VLC also do work as expected. Video on X worked under 26.04 before this happened.
The issue likely started when removing surplus packages and metapackages from the upgrade. According to synaptics, this is the complete list of packages removed: augeas-lenses bomber bovo clevis clevis-luks db-util db5.3-util dolphin-dev gir1.2-freedesktop-dev gir1.2-glib-2.0-dev girepository-tools gostsum granatier guestfish guestfs-tools guestmount icu-devtools jose kapman katomic kblackbox kblocks kbounce kbreakout kdegames kdegames-mahjongg-data-kf6 kdiamond kfourinline kgeography kgeography-data kgoldrunner kigo killbots kiriki kjumpingcube klickety klines kmahjongg knavalbattle knetwalk knights kolf kollision konquest kreversi kshisen ksirk ksnakeduel kspaceduel ksquares ktuberling ktuberling-data kubrick kubuntu-web-shortcuts ldmtool libaom-dev libarchive-tools libaugeas0 libblkid-dev libconfig11 libdbus-1-dev libdlt3 libffi-dev libfmt-dev libfontconfig1-dev libfribidi-dev libgd-perl libgio-2.0-dev libgio-2.0-dev-bin libglib2.0-dev libglib2.0-dev-bin libgraphite2-dev libguestfs-perl libguestfs-tools libguestfs0t64 libharfbuzz-cairo0 libharfbuzz-dev libhivex0 libicu-dev libjose0 libjson-glib-dev libjxr-tools libjxr0t64 libkdegames6private6 libkmahjongg6 libldm-1.0-0t64 libmosquitto1 libmount-dev libosinfo-1.0-0 libosinfo-l10n libpcre2-dev libpixman-1-dev libpolkit-gobject-1-dev libpsl-dev libpwquality-tools libpython3-dev libpython3.14-dev libselinux-dev libsepol-dev libspdlog-dev libsqlite3-dev libssh-dev libstd-rust-dev libstring-shellquote-perl libsys-virt-perl libsysprof-capture-4-dev libsystemd-dev libtirpc-dev libusb-0.1-4 libusb-1.0-0-dev libusb-1.0-doc libusb-dev libvirt-common libvirt0 libwebsockets19t64 libwhoopsie-preferences0 libwhoopsie0 libwin-hivex-perl libx265-dev libxdo-dev libxdo3 libxft-dev libxkbcommon-dev libxrender-dev libyara10 lskat lskat-data mosquitto mosquitto-clients native-architecture osinfo-db palapeli palapeli-data picmi qml6-module-org-kde-games-core skladnik supermin whoopsie whoopsie-preferences I don't think they are related (libx265 and libaom are only the -dev packages), but this is the only system-wide change on that day that I can remember. I of course tried re-installing these, but this also doesn't fix the problem.
On my journey of fixing this myself, I also asked the all-hallucinating knowledge randomizer frontend of OpenAI, which made me check a couple generic spots on my system and in FF itself.

Hello, I am currently using windows 11 with firefox 149.0. Regardless of what website I use (youtube. steam etc), the browser struggles to establish consistent connection to my bluetooth earbuds. It connects for one moment, but then soon the volume goes out and eventually it disconnects. Though it would reconnect soon, the cycle just keeps ongoing. I have experimented with other apps and browsers, as well as multiple bluetooth earbuds of other brands to be sure that it is a firefox issue. I have checked the volume mixer menu to ensure that there is nothing wrong. I have also made sure that my drivers are all up to date with no issue. But the issue still persists.

Having issues with my Bluetooth AirPods and sound in Firefox. The problem being there is no sound when the device is connected and watching a YouTube video for instance. Things went wonky after the recent update to 133.0.3. At first there was no sound period. Then somehow, not even sure how, I saw that Firefox was muted in Windows (11 Pro) settings. That's a mystery unto itself since I'd never previously gone to that area. Now that I have volume through external speakers working, audio through AirPods doesn't. Everything works fine using Edge and audio from music. I know the device is connected and when that is, it's the default for where sound comes from. Used the test thing and yup there is audio. Is there something I'm missing? There must be but I can't figure out what it is. Hopefully someone reading this can point me in the right direction of resolving this issue. Thank you in advance.

Hello,
I am a new firefox user and would like to use it 100%, but have been running into a few bugs. This one I have been unable to find this issue myself, so thought I would ask here. I use Qobuz to stream hi-res music up to 24bit/ 192kHz. Some albums do not have sound at that resolution. The file will load and timer shows the song is playing, but there is no audio. I can change the setting to stream at 16bit/44.1kHz and then I get audio. Again, this does not occur with all albums, some will stream at hi-res and some will not. An interesting note: the same file with no audio at hi-res on firefox will have audio at same resolution setting on chrome. The only thing I can think of is chrome is reducing resolution in the background, or maybe a DRM issue? I do have "Play DRM-controlled content" checked in firefox settings.
p.s. I am aware that streaming music through a browser is not necessarily the best way to listen to hi-res music, and my ears may, or may not hear the difference between the 16bit and 24bit. However, the issue is the functionality, or lack of.
Thank you in advance for any insight.

Hi,
I have been having this weird issue that I believe is being caused by firefox as no other internet browser has the same issue. When I'm playing music on spotify and I open firefox the sound goes quite bu the audio is still playing on spotify . One work around I have found is to take on of the tabs and use it to open a new window and the put it back with the others and the sound comes back again. I lost and need help as this is making it hard to want to use firefox which I have been a user of since it first came out.

I am using Firefox on gnome desktop on the PureOS variant of Debian. About three days ago, I went to listen to my Spotify playlist on Firefox, not through the Spotify app. I had no sound, checked my system settings and turned the volume for Firefox from zero back up to normal. The rest of the song played, but when the next song came on, again no sound. I watched the sound settings and when the song finishes, Firefox disappears from the sound settings list. When the next song starts, Firefox is back in the list but volume is set back to zero. I suspect this may be something in gnome, but I thought I would check here in case anyone else is seeing this issue. Thanks so much for any help or at least a shoulder to cry on :D

What the title says. Firefox just isn't playing any sound whatsoever.
Troubleshooting:
I have Apollo installed on my computer and I've reached out to them before for similar issues, but the dev was insistent that Apollo does not cause sound issues. I'm somewhat sceptical, but they're not being helpful at all so I thought I'd ask here, and disclose usage of Apollo so that all bases are covered.
Thank you for your time.
