Mail Redirect, a TB addon, recently switched to Sourceforge because MozDev was shutting down or something. However, attempting to download the latest XPI from Sourceforge (http://downloads.sourceforge.net/project/mailredirect/mailredirect-0.7.7-sm%2Btb.xpi?r=http%3A%2F%2Fsourceforge.net%2Fprojects%2Fmailredirect%2F%3Fsource%3Ddirectory&ts=1370301869&use_mirror=iweb) fails, because Firefox assumes the download is supposed to be an install of a Firefox addon, and Mail Redirect's metadata is set to be incompatible with Firefox.

There is no way to override this and force an actual download; clicking "Direct Link" on the page does the same thing, and dragging either of the links to the Downloads window (Ctrl-J) downloads an HTML document with a .XPI extension, which is obviously useless. What's more, Thunderbird has no convenient way of opening arbitrary webpages.

I finally caved and used IE to download it. It took about 30 seconds.

I can't access certain sites from my laptop anymore due to a Content Encoding Error message. I've contacted the site owner in question and it's running fine. I can also access it on my other desktop computer using Firefox.

No other browsers are able to access the site, either, from my laptop. My laptop is a Windows 8. I have Avast Antivirus and Malwarebytes installed, if that makes any difference. I tried allowing the app through Windows Firewall and it didn't help.

I've tried refreshing Firefox, restoring my laptop to an earlier date, and going into the about:config menu and following steps from other articles concerning this problem. I've cleared my Cache and my Cookies. Nothing fixes it.

Does anyone have any advice? I figure it's a problem with my laptop, but I've never run across it before. Help?

I will detail the steps when attempting to install Firefox. Screen prints attached. 1. Go to the "New Firefox" webpage 2. Run is not an option, so exe file is saved to "Downloads" 3. FFox installer indicates "Now Installing" 4. This process runs, and runs, and runs until the blue bownload arrow is clicked (top right hand corner) 5. This closes the Now Installing Window and a box appears indicating "Completed". I presume the installer has fully downloaded... ? 6. Clicking the exe file in downloads folder starts the installation process. 7. After 2 or 3 minutes an installer message appears indicating "Hmm, for some reason we could not install Firefox". The suggestion is try again, which I have done 3 times with no success.

I downloaded a word document yesterday. When I was prompted to save it or open it, I chose to just open it. I then made some changes to the word document, and clicked "save". Today I was looking for the word document, but couldn't find it. When I open Firefox's download menu, the option to open it or open its containing folder is grayed out.

What I'm very confused by is the fact that when I clicked "save" in MS Word yesterday when I finished editing the document, MS Word saved the file. Normally, when I "open" a word document directly from Firefox (as opposed to saving it to a specified location), if I edit the document and then click "save", MS Word will direct me to the "Save As" menu where I choose a folder to save the document in. This time, MS Word saved the file as if it were a file I had downloaded. So I had no idea that the file was not in a secure location (probably was in a temporary download folder).

The changes I made to the document were extremely important and I'm very very disappointed that I've lost the file. Is there anywhere it could be? How can I prevent this from happening in the future (other than saving the file directly from Firefox)?

Thanks

I have tried anything for 5 hours and nothing works.

New dell laptop with Windows 8.1 64 bits. Firefox version: 37.0a1 (2014-12-05). Install Java twice via jxpiinstall.exe and jre-8u25-windows-i586-iftw.exe. 32 bits version. Java test page https://www.java.com/en/download/installed.jsp reports that 'java is disabled or not installed'. Java console shows that Java is enabled for browsers. DOS Command line 'java -version' shows java running. I have even put the 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.8.0_25' in the global PATH variable and created a JAVA_HOME variable with this directory. I went into regedit and change the rights on all mozilla mozilla.org keys.

Finally, I downloaded Chrome and it works after some configuration. Regards.

PS: the register process to be able to ask a question is the most impossible (being polite) that I have ever seen.

Hi everyone,

I'm using Windows 8 on my notebook. The mozilla firefox software just got updated automatically to Firefox Quantum 57.0(64-bit). There is a window popped up when I was trying to start the program. It shows:

firefox.exe - Application Error

The exception Breakpoint A breakpoint has been reached. (0x80000003) occurred in the application at location 0x6ccb4b9e.

Click on OK to terminate the program

After that, I tried to uninstall and install the program but nothing has changed. Any help to get it fixed? Thanks a million

Ever since upgrading to 57, I have trouble with certain webpages with buttons that are unclickable, or text boxes that won't accept text. It very frustrating after I fill out a bunch of information, and get to the bottom of the screen, and the submit button does nothing. I have to redo everything in Internet Explorer, which takes a lot of time and is double work. I'm about to start using IE exclusively so I don't have to do everything twice (I really don't want to) Yes, javascripr is enabled.

Does this happen to anyone else?

I receive this message when I try to go to any of the websites linked from the Add-ons Manager in Mozilla Firefox browser. All other websites are loading properly, and I only have this problem when using the Firefox browser. I am using Windows 8.

I have used Firefox since it was introduced and have had it remember my passwords for as long as that's been possible. Suddenly, last week, after the 32.0 upgrade, all of my passwords completely disappeared. I have the Privacy settings set to "Firefox will Remember History". Why would they have disappeared, and how can I retrieve them? Is there anything nefarious I should be worried about (could they have been stolen)?

I am running Windows 8.0 on a 64-bit computer with 4GB RAM/1TB HDD. Today, I upgraded to 32.0.1, but the passwords are still missing. I have Sync enabled.

I have had lots of problems with my pc and this morning when I was trying to get it started I was offered a "Refresh your Pc"option which I did, My Mozilla Firefox browser seems to have disappeared since then since then and I was offered to open a Firefox account which I did thinking that would get my bookmarks(or Favourites) back but it hasn't. I think this new account does not recognise me. I don't have any bookmarks or favourites on any other browser. Is it possible to retrieve my oroginal Mozilla Firefox account which has got dozens of Bookmarks on it for me ? Thank you.

Okay. The issue is that since the update to Firefox 37.0.2 I am having video playback issues on Youtube.com and Sometimes Newgrounds.com. In Youtube many videos I play only now show in the upper left hand corner of the screen and the size of that video does not change even in full screen. it remains the size of a small tile. I have tried disabling add ons, and pretty much everything suggested on various web sites. On New Grounds some videos and some games are flipped upside down and backwards as the occasional video but the video issue on Newgrounds is not as bad as the issue Firefox has with some of the games.

I have tried the exact same videos and games on Internet Exploder and I do not get any of these issues. This only began to happen after the update to 37.0.2.

I am using Windows 8 (FULLY UP TO DATE) and I have the latest version of Flash. I have managed to narrow this down to a Firefox issue and many others have stated in various sites addressing this issue as a bug in Firefox. I have to agree with this observation. Likewise my video drivers are up to date as well. My computer uses the Intel 4600 drivers.

Comp specs pertaining to this issue: ASrock Z97 Pro3 Intel graphics (onboard) 16GB of RAM
