I have an iMac (running macOS Mojave (version 10.14) . If I wished to open Firefox I could always easily find it on my Dock because the Dock icon for FF has always been the regular red fox in a circle. Then today I went to open Firefox and I couldn't find it on my Dock. After careful observation using the magnifier I discovered that the Firefox program is still there, but its icon has been replaced by a totally insignificant looking icon that looks like a white notebook, with a small ruler, pencil and pen on top. - What gives? - Is this the "new" icon for FF? - I don't like it. I've started making some promotional videos for my website recently and me not being the sharpest tool in the shed when it comes to computer tech, I ask a lot of questions first before I plunge in.
Now the problem I have here is as seen with some other questions that my browser does not support any of the video formats etc etc, giving me an html 5 error.
My software is Camtasia Studio 8, the exact same as one of my friends use, I had to ask him what format do I use for uploading to Youtube, he said to leave it as the default which was MP4 720p, which I did. After uploading was complete on youtube I got the error message; totally bizarre really because I can see videos he has made quite well, with the same settings. Generally I can see 99% of videos on youtube. (although I cannot see any at all on Dailymotion, but that isn't an issue)
My Browser is Firefox 52.9.0, my operating system is Windows XP.

When using the "Restore Previous session" Firefox keeps refusing to load one of the tabs I had open last at random. Then when I copy the internet address and close the tab then use the Paste and go in my address bar, it promptly crashes that tab as well. As you can understand this is extremely annoying, so what's going on here?

Earlier I had tried the Profile change as suggested to "place.sqlite.old and that didn't work.

Initially installed FF version 63 on 10/10/ 2018 and has exceeded my expectations. I launch it today and everything is gone. It looked like a fresh install. I got a momentary notification that Firefox had updated successfully. This issue is similar to https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1223868. I do have a "Old Firefox Date" folder on my desktop. I added a new Profile and copied the necessary files from the folder on my desktop. Problem is...no bookmarks, favicons, login info, etc. I'm not real happy about this because Firefox has the ability to delete profiles and add new ones without notification and then corrupt or lose all my old info. I can't believe I allowed Firefox to update without notification. First of all, what happened and secondly , how do I get info back that isn't where it's supposed to be?

Since the last couple of days, I see that Firefox holds a lock for places.db for the whole time while Firefox is open. The problem manifests itself when I use alfred workflow to do a search for a firefox bookmark by a keyword. I see that the workflow written in Python crashes with
`sqlite3.OperationalError: database is locked`
When I close Firefox, the script is working fine. When I open it again - the script is not operational again. Tried safe mode - the same result.
This was working fine for years and the symptom points that it was changed recently and now Firefox holds a lock during the whole time it is open. I guess previously the database lock was acquired per bookmark write transaction.
FF 63.0 macOS
Is it a known issue? Why was this change made?

Lately, every morning when I open my laptop ( I only use blank screen) Firefox is already open to the http://kbb.com website. This is on a Windows 10 laptop. I cannot find anywhere in Firefox settings that is telling this site to start up nor any reason for Firefox to even be open. I definitely shut Firefox down when I'm finished browsing. There are some 'Recent Highlights" and one of them is showing that page, but I am unable to remove them.

example: [no input] Double click on the Firefox icon on the desktop and it says wait while we install the latest update. Then the little updater box with the progress bar opens showing update in progress. I DID NOT OK AN UPDATE!
How can I rely on software that does not follow settings? I am using Win 10 and the most current {NOW) firefox thanks to it updating without my permission. This is also why I now use Chrome as my default browser.

Yesterday, the Firefox icon on the task bar turned into what looked like a blank sheet of paper. When I closed Firefox the icon disappeared. I have reinstalled Firefox multiple times and it works until I shut it down - then the icon on the task bar disappears. So I search for Firefox on my computer and click on it and then I get a message which says to install the latest version.
