I do not wish to see advertisements for Mullvad on my Private Browsing new tab pages. But I can't even seem to opt out of them, as they remain even after searching "Sponsored" in about:preferences and unchecking all the applicable boxes. uBlock Origin also seemed unable to remove them, even with a custom filter and after enabling it on about-scheme.

So I went to fix it with userchrome CSS, by adding the following to a file named userChrome.css inside a folder named chrome inside my profile folder (after setting toolkit.legacyUserProfileCustomizations.stylesheets to True):

[code] /* Remove advertisements for Mozilla VPN */ @-moz-document url(about:privatebrowsing) { .promo { display: none !important; } } /code

However, even after restarting the browser, these advertisements are still present.

What am I doing wrong?

Hello, I have been using Firefox for years without problems, but recently this came about out of the blue: for every action typed into the window, be it a search string or URL, or even about:config, Firefox opens a new window.

I didn't tweak any configuration options, it's not any of the extensions (removed those) nor a theme (using default). Also, this https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1293906 was not useful.

This is an extremely annoying issue. Please help.

What is the minimum set of files that I can recreate a FF user profile from?

For example, the official docs say to backup/migrate a user profile by copying the whole directory, but the I'm not interested in the `Crash Reports/` directory, history or any session information.

Based on a post I saw some time ago about Thunderbird user profiles, I would expect that only a few files are actually needed (off the top of my head from the TB example, possibly `cert9.db`, `extensions.json` and `prefs.js`), but I can't find the post again now to double-check and I'm not sure how well it would apply to FF.

So, what files do I need to copy over to a new user profile to retain my:

  1. extensions and their preferences
  2. Firefox preferences
  3. bookmarks

Few days ago I've got an email from my provider informing mi that, a lot of spam is send from my address and threatening to block mi if I do not remedy this. I've spoken to their support team and they advised mi to change to another browser since they think it is the problem. I don't know what to do, being the Firefox user for more then 20 years I'm very reluctant to change. Any advice will be highly appropriated.

There are some browser games that are best played full screen, but I can't seem to find a way to keep the "helpful" menu from popping up over my game when the mouse hits the top edge of the screen. The best I can do is not play full screen, and detach the tab of my game to minimize the amount of tabs visible (and clickable) but there are still these "landmines" on the screen that actively sabotage playing the game without having the handicap of firefox taking over and messing with the screen.

Is there any way to completely disable the popups from a fullscreen mode, show no toolbars, tabs, or anything else (except when exiting fullscreen mode via the keyboard.) I want the mouse to have no interaction with changing the display except for the game itself.

Playing http://slither.io is a good example of what I'm talking about.

Thanks!

I've uninstalled greasemonkey and installed tampermonkey, since the latter has a management interface. But for some reason the greasemonkey install screen has not gone away and the userscripts that I installed are still active.

I've looked around an tried to see where userscripts are located on Firefox, but the most accurate one I could find was a blog post from 2010, so I could really use help from experienced users.

Hello! Please, implement the built-in speed dial, like in Opera and Vivaldi. It's extremely convenient and useful, lots of people need this. I've been using Firefox for more than 10 years and I hate your stupid "Firefox Home" page (sorry) on desktop and Android with icons that add automatically and I can't change and locate. It's inconvenient and completely useless. It would be great if you create something like Opera 12.17 or 12.18 had. In addition, please remove the "close" button in the last tab. I know that I can do it via the "config mode" (browser.tabs.closeWindowWithLastTab), but it's not user-friendly. It's inconvenient when you close the tab just to return home, but the whole browser closes. It makes me nervous. Thank you in advance! You are doing a great job, wish you good luck, and hope that one day Firefox will be more popular than Chromium-based browsers.

When I play HTML5 audio Firefox adds an extra line to the tab title with the word "PLAYING". This causes the main window to resize vertically. Any content that is sized based on the height of the window is also resized which causes a visible 'glitch' in the display. My specific use-case is a music rehearsal page that displays an SVG of the music score beside the HTML5 <audio> controls. The height of the is defined, in css, as 'height: 100vh;' so that the whole page is visible. I would like to be able to revert to Firefox's previous behaviour of displaying an icon _beside_ the tab title. Any other solution that does not increase the height of the tab could also be of use.

Thanks.

Browsing on local development URLs derives on "Unable to connect"

Hi there,

I'm using my PC for local web development. I use Firefox as my regular browser and recently, in order to distinguish between personal time and development time, I've established a new profile just for development purposes.

The local website I can't reach is "site.local.dev". My OS is Ubuntu 20.04 and that URL points to a local IP on my network (resolved via /etc/hosts file on my PC).

Funny thing is that: - In dev-profile: site.local.dev does not work => "Unable to connect" and the URL bar shows https://site.local.dev even if I force it to http:// - In personal-profile: site.local.dev does work :P

I have tried with CLI tools like "wget", "hosts", "ping", "telnet" and so on and the site loads ok. Even I have used Dillo (damn simple web browser) and the site loads ok also.

Things I've tried so far: - Suggestions at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-cant-load-websites-other-browsers-can - Suggestions at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1011327 (similar issue, not exactly the same).

It must be a silly thing but I'm out of options now. Perhaps anybody has faced to this situation in the past: any suggestion on this issue?.

Thanks in advance, Ibon.

I tried to change the language from english to japanese because I thought it would install the characters but didn't work and rolled back to english. I need to read japanese texts in webpages.... I also checked text decoding from settings > more > text decoding. Unicode is selected and I cannot change to anything else, it is unselectible. What should I do to be able to use the browser properly?
