We have created a self signed CA certificate that verifies a sub domain "*.dev.mydomain.example", NOT as in the more common case the whole domain "*.mydomain.example".

Firefox does not properly recognize a sub domain of this wildcard, e.g. cms.dev.mydomain.example.

The error message is:

cms.dev.mydomain.example uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is only valid for *.dev.clearsense.at (Error code: ssl_error_bad_cert_domain)

using Firefox 36.0.4 on Mac OS X 10.9.5

My workplace has multiple internal domains and would like to know how to allow Firefox for all internal websites to use NTLM authentication. The idea is not to keep setting NTLM about:config entry for each and every internal site getting added.

Our streaming audio service has been using Adobe Flash Player since 2007. With the February 2015 release of Firefox 36 many of our customers (Windows and Mac) are seeing our Flash player hang indefinitely at "Trying connection on port 1935". In somecases reinstalling Adobe Flash Player will fix this; in other cases reinstalling Firefox will fix this; in several cases only allowing incoming connections on port 1935 (new firewall rule) will fix this.

What happened? A lot of our customers use Firefox and suddenly no joy.

Accessing admin page of SAN that uses self-signed cert. (from Oracle Corp.), warning dialogue appears, which is OK, bu the "add exception" mechanism no longer works. (Used to in earlier versions of FireFox.)

As we know that everyone wants save passwords for many websites,even though we have email assistance if we lose our passwords but saved passwords from pc can be easily hacked in mozilla.This may not be seen in chrome.More security can be added to that,as the number of hackers is increasing eventually .It can be made better than what MOZILLA is using.

I tried editing the newtab.xul but I wanted to play songs on my newtab and xul apparently doesn't allow that, so I was wondering if there was any way to redirect about:newtab to an HTML instead of the newtab.xul. I don't want to change the newtab.url because I want the url to be blank.

So in this segment of code:

the href are not working. The text is not made clickable when i hover and does nothing when i click. I've tried resetting Firefox, checked there are no proxies but nothing's changed. In Google chrome they work fine.

Can anyone suggest a solution?

I have been having some problems for the past few months now, which started approximately mid April, but they were largely minor and I did not mind them, but now they have tried my patience for too long. My Firefox does not seem to be syncing correctly, and the error it gives is an unknown error.

These may be minor, but other problems have coincided with this error prompt. For hyperlinks, they are not remembered but links clicked from long ago are remembered and still appear purple, while un-clicked links appear blue, as well as links that are clicked now. Many preferences are not saved, and I cannot create new bookmarks, or edit pre-existing ones, either by duplication, changing their names, or changing their locations. Futhermore, there is no way to access the "organize" function within the bookmark menu. I am not completely certain if these are all related, but i believe the bookmakrs and preferences to definitely be related to this syncing problem, with the hyperlink problem still a mystery.

Attempting to re-sync just causes a sync error to reappear within a second, without change. I have followed some instruction from past questions, such as refreshing or conducting a clean reinstall, but nothing so far has fixed this problem. Indeed, even a fresh reinstall still remembers my old sync destination, but cannot allow changes to be made, so I cannot truly start "fresh". In every site, 'Serif' is showed 'Sans-Serif'.

I have some 'Serif' fonts in my system.

And not change font settings in [Preferences -> Content -> Fonts & Colors]

Firefox choose 'Sans Serif' -> 'Cantarell' to show 'Serif'

And choose 'Serif' -> 'Alegreya' to show some unknown font

Let say, I have a page on domain www.a.b.xyz.com. This page contains an iframe, with data from www.d.xyz.com.

iframe is loaded with data from www.d.xyz.com, by submitting html form to host www.d.xyz.com. In return server www.d.xyz.com is returning HTML DOM to be rendered in iframe. Server also sets header 'Access-Control-Allow-Origin: *.xyz.com' in response.

iframe is loaded with HTML DOM from www.d.xyz.com.

Now, I'm trying to access/manipulate (for eg: Click a button in iframe) DOM from parent page using Javascript. But, I'm not able to do so.

Is it because, 'Access-Control-Allow-Origin: *.xyz.com' just informs browser to show/render the content from www.d.xyz.com on www.a.b.xyz.com, but do not grant permission to parent page to manipulate iframe's DOM ?

I am able to manipulate iframe's DOM from parent, only if I create sub-domain for both parent and iframe- document.domain='xyz.com'; I changed domain using firebug debugger.

Any help will be appreciated.

I have updated to the new version of firefox ( v 40) Developer Edition ( Nightly Build )

I am not able to sync anything across my devices

All my history and everything is on my linux machine ( Ubuntu 14.10 --updated to latest packages in repo)

i have checked "about:sync-log" - this page ...and it is having this error "Exception: Could not acquire lock. Label: "service.js: sync". No traceback available" ...

I don't know what that error means ..could not solve it.... and i want to migrate my firefox history to other machine

I can't access it through Options/Sync either. That just gets me a message saying "determining your account status..." which never goes away. I have refreshed FF, checked I am signed in to FF and checked around on Google for any possible solutions but no luck.

when I use Windows Search to find words in Word files, they cannot be found when these files were dowloaded wth Firefox. When the files are downloaded using IE, this problem does not occur.

Please let me the support for Silverlight applications on Mozilla Firefox. Since, Google Chrome has been restricting usage of Silverlight from Chrome v42 with few workaround and completely eliminating the usage after v.45 . I want to if Firefox is also planning anything similar, on the usage of Silverlight plugins and application that support Silverlight. Also, let me know if there is any workaround if the support is stopped.

How can I parse the version number of Firefox programatically.

So, I don't have to visit the page every time. All I would have to do is run the script, and it will give me the latest version.

The file will always have ".complete.mar" in it. It's the only file with the word "complete" under this directory. How can I parse the version "40.0.2" from it.

I've selected in the update tab under the advanced options to never check for updates, none of which I will ever want to download, never had the Maintenance Service installed, and also confirmed that the values of such preferences of "app.update.auto, app.update.enabled, app.update.silent" are set to false in about:config as I was told they should be. Yet, EVERY time I open Firefox, Firefox automatically tries to update itself, prompting User Account Control to ask my permission for Firefox to make changes (the upgrade) to my computer. I do not want to have to click no every time I'm asked this because Firefox tries to update itself WITHOUT MY PERMISSION. What can I do to stop this?

I set up a computer (dell windows 8 laptop) for my child. I have parental controls on, however have Facebook set as an allowed site.

When I try to access Facebook through Firefox on my child's account, it says it is not a trusted site and won't let me go further. I can, however, access Facebook (my child's account) just fine from my account (admin) on the computer.

These are the technical details provided: facebook.com uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is not trusted because the issuer certificate is unknown. The server might not be sending the appropriate intermediate certificates. An additional root certificate may need to be imported. (Error code: sec_error_unknown_issuer)

Saw some info on adding the additional root certificate, but it was not clear, and I did not fully understand.

I am running the latest version of Firefox (40.0.3) with ad blocker plus as my only addon. However every time I attempt to open a new tab it take ages to open because Firefox is constantly searching for an update. This takes 2-3 minutes every time. Have tried refreshing Firefox, uninstalling and reinstalling without success. My system is Win 8.1 on a i7 Lenovo PC. All worked well until the latest FF upgrade. I have no problems with the same version installed on my laptop. Any help/suggestions would be much apprciated. Thanks.
