Hi all,

I have a issue with firefox, when i browse through sites i noticed a popping sound through my laptop speakers. I noticed this for a long time now and i thought it was driver related so i updated my drivers but the popping didn't go away. I tested the edge browser in windows 10 and did swap through the same sites as i did in firefox and that browser does not create popping noices.

Is there a fix for it ?

Just after the most recent FF update I noticed , from time-to-time, that when I print FF is using the FF printer mode instead of the default Adobe Acrobat printer mode. It doesn't happen all the time, but it happens. My options screen still shows Adobe as the default printer mode. So, I don't understand why this is happening. I look forward to anyone's comments. Firefox 86 has introduced a new print preview panel which I like. What I don't like though is that the unit for print margins has changed from millimeter to inch (see screenshot, in German). In previous versions, it was possible to set the unit in the prefs by changing "print.printer_PostScript/default.print_paper_size_unit". Value 0 meant imperial units, value 1 meant metric units. This entry does no longer exist.

There is still the entry "print.printer_printername.print_paper_size_unit" for every printer that's installed. Those values are all set to 1 in my case but this doesn't seem to have any effect.

So how can I set the margins of printed pages in millimeters instead of inches?

I am working in an online class and we are asked to record videos in an online platform for school. When I go to hit the play button on anyone's video I get an error message. This does not happen in other browsers, but I want to keep using Firefox. Is there a privacy or cookie setting that could be causing this to happen?

Suddenly a week ago or so, Disqus comment boxes no longer appear. I reported it to a website that employs Disqus for commenting. They have been investigating for a couple of weeks with no response.

There was a question asked on this forum in 2013 that describes the Subject, but nothing since. Running on Window 10 Home.

This problem does not occur on my Windows 10 machine with Edge or Chrome browsers.

Nor does it occur on Ipad or Android browsers.

I'm working on an addon to automate taking screenshots of lecture slides. I'm using a canvas object to capture and save the file blobs and JSZip to zip everything together and download. But JSZip keeps throuhing the `unsupported file type` error. Even though blobs are supported.

I've submitted an issue to the maintainer which has some more debugging info. The script in the addon_context has some very quantum behaviour and changes output every time I console.log Github Issue

I'm wondering if there might be a problem on my end, with the way I'm generating and processing the blobs. The same code works in chromium based browser, I'm confused as to what Firefox does differently. Any help would be appreciated.

I browse in permanent private mode, strict enhanced security.

When I logout of gmail, the permissions icon appears in the Site Info panel, image attached. When I choose X, the icon disappears; it says "a refresh might be necessary". When i refresh, the icon is back. No google cookie is listed in "Cookies and site data"

I refreshed firefox, reapplied my preferences. Problem persists.

I first noticed it this afternoon; it does not happen with Firefox 85, same privacy settings.

Is there something I can do to change this behaviour?

For the longest time, years, we have encountered interactive pop-ups that lead to failure of firefox to supply user friendly interaction. I can only think this has driven less avid users to decline interaction with firefox, basically driving them to other browsers or means instead of persisting with firefox. You've launched an older version of firefox is the most notorious pop-ups that has ever been delivered from firefox. the message goes on to read:

Using an older version of Firefox can corrupt bookmarks and browsing history already saved to an existing Firefox profile. To protect your information, create a new profile for this installation of firefox.

Most every time I open a file by this means it is through the file local system clicking on an html file and other times it occurs from an application on this computer directing me to a site where I should obtain specific information. I want you to remember that every time we save a pages those saves are in the file/folder combination of html that reside to on the computer; and, every time we wish to open one of these we are addressed with this less than ideal situation.

This advice has several deficiencies. First off as I see is that instead of offering a means to update the current version of firefox the user is given no alternative except to 'create a new profile'. How can this be a better alternative than an update?

Frustration that derive from this interaction is:

one, when I open a file I usually would like it opened in a specific profile so that all the data becomes associated with that profile

two, not only the time it takes to create a new profile and the lapse in an uninterrupted thought process but what to do with all the one-off profiles that are created in order to handle this particular situation. Further, every time a user wishes to open a file of this nature there is never an alternative means to tackle this reoccurring problem. For years it has been the same end-run-about.

In addition, this dialog seems flawed as we can always open the file with right-click file and select 'open with' through the file system in which the html file reside on the computer; but not when directly clicked on. If you try to search and read for the accepted answer to this issue you will find the answer is a bit more complicated than the average user will endeavor to install. More, I have seen that I can open the browser through the profile dialog box and never is it more than one version off yet I still have to deal with the frustrating pop-up.

Can we get an update button on the 'You've launched an older version of firefox' dialog box?

Several times now I post a question and I get this long running horizontal scroll.

I have firgured this out the time prior - a while ago - but now I must deal with it again and I do not wish to test this at this time or ever again.

Does anyone know why this is happening. The message should look like a standard text page. I am editing the text in notepad and paste into the message board. I use one long run-on sentence for each paragraph. So, I do not know why some of these lines should become encapsulated in code while others do not.

Why is this even an issue to occur and why is there not a description on this page on how to use this editor?

first things first, i did come across old solutions and they did NOT work. turning off hardware acceleration did not fix my issue. the videos will not play in safe mode, and they will not play with firefox "refreshed" or with all addons off.

ive had this happen numerous times over and it kind of just randomly stops, but i never know how long itll last. its happened again today, where videos on youtube, tumblr, twitter, etc will not play. its like its at the very start of the video and just wont play. it seems my firefox just updated today too, but i cant say this has only happened when i update so idk what the cause is. if it is update related i dont know how to fix it.

I recently updated Firefox Developer Edition 64-bit to 86.0b3 (Windows 10) and since then it no longer accepts commands from KeePass Password Manager. I double-checked that Firefox is the default browser, which it is. And if I switch default browser to Chrome, KeePass works okay. Switching back to Firefox as default and KeePass commands stop working. I would appreciate any suggestions, thanks.

In the search bar, as well as in the titles of the tabs, the font is not displayed anti-aliased. Compared to google chrome, the difference is noticeable. How to set anti-aliasing for tabs and search bar in Mozilla Firefox browser?

After last big update of Firefox Developer Edition I am having really huge video playback bugs. I've tested it on various video streaming services. When video is in 1080p and launched in fulscreen mode there are three issues. 1. Picture is freezing but audio is istill playing then frame jump to right moment and everything is ok 2. Video with sound is lagging. There is a sound like you processor is running over 100% and it is still not enough 3. Video and sound is stopping. Everything is happening in random moments for few seconds.

On Opera I don't have any problem. My processor is AMD Ryzen 5 5600X (without any OC)

Seemingly, in all browsers but Firefox Developer Edition 80.0b5 - the video display full view port width. This hasn't been an issue until a day or two ago.

Making drastic changes to the CSS, I can get it to behave like every other browser, but that's not really feasible.

Anything change to Firefox Developer Edition that would make the video behave differently?

I really like the way the icons of Firefox look, like the download button, library button etc. (in attachement some examples). Can I somehow get my hands on them? I would like them as SVGs, if possible.
