I switched to firefox because Chrome is clunky, Edge is Edge and Opera doesn't support Truekey. So far I've liked everything, but I've had one real bad problem. I always use icon only bookmarks, because I don't like the text there. I've had the problem of the site not getting thumbnails for many sites, and it doesn't seem like there is any way to upload them. I'd really like it if there was a way to do this. Thanks.

Firefox help says "When you enter a username and password that you haven't already saved for a website, Firefox will ask if you want to save it. "

But it doesn't always. I want it to remember username/password for a particular website, but Firefox doesn't ask. I have "Ask to save logins and passwords for websites" checked, and the website is not on my saved logons list. Is there a way to force Firefox to remember the username/password for a particular site, perhaps by manually editing the saved logons list (where is it?)? Thanks.

I find video autoplay very irritating on news sites and had this disabled in previous versions of Firefox but find this no longer works in Firefox 61.0.1. I would welcome any advice as to how I can prevent video autoplay once more. I have media.webm.enabled, media.ogg.enabled and media.wave.enabled all set to false, as is media.autoplay in about:config.

Many thanks in anticipation.

Attempting to access certain features on the site of a bank in another country, I downloaded a shady program the bank said was required to perform transactions. The program installed a some suspicious drivers that appeared to monitor Internet communications, and modified my Firefox certificates.

Luckily I had a recent restore point that appears to have removed the application and drivers from the system. But my Firefox installation still contains a certificate authority with a name related to the application.

How can I reset all the certificate authorities in my Firefox installation to only those that Firefox provides in the official installer?

Are the certificate authorities stored at the Firefox level, or at the user profile level?

Finally if all else fails, if I uninstall and reinstall Firefox will this reset the certificate authorities, or are they stored with my user profile?

Will uninstalling Firefox remove my user profile? If I reinstall Firefox will it find my pre-existing user profile automatically?

FF will not save my password for at least one site. The issue is not related to the site. All other Browsers are able to save the user and name and password to this site.

I am using FF 61.0.1. I have noticed that "Ask to save logins and passwords for websites" is greyed out. I have FF set to remember history. I have already read about how some people who has this problem in earlier versions were able to fix the problem by not using Private Browsing (which I am not) and by launching FF as an Administrator, which also doesn't take care of my problem.

I have even imported the saved logins from Chrome where this works, and even that did not address the issue. If someone can tell me what is causing this to be greyed out, I think that will be the answer to the problem.

Some time this week [?] things went wrong. Last Firefox update was to 61.0+linuxmint1+sylvia on 13/07/18 and included update of the flash-plugin.

Elsewhere I have found mention of... https://www.youtube.com/html5/ which informs me under "What does this browser support?" that my browser supports all of the six items listed.

I also have the Chromium Browser installed which reports the same but has no problems playing media on Twitter. Last update was 17/07/18 and at the same time chromium-codecs-ffmpeg-extra was updated.

I run NoScript uBlockOrigin and PrivacyBadger in Firefox but switching them off has no effect.

What else might I try?

Thanks.

Firefox 61 on Ubuntu. When I try to open .swf files, it tries to use the system's video display application, which cannot handle it (because it's not a video).

In Preferences->Applications there are 3 entries for SWF file type: application/x-shockwave-flash and application/futuresplash which are assigned to Shockwave Flash plugin, and application/vnd.adobe.flash.movie, which is assigned to Videos (and does not has an option for the plugin in its drop-down menu).

Somehow, all SWF files are assumed to be of the last type, which does not work. How can I assign all SWF files to the plugin?

I have tried the suggestion and none work... https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1198817

I used to use an app for this and it no longer works either.

The font size for websites I was able to set @ 1.25 in about:config and are perfect size for me

But still the text size in the Firefox program is showing very small and hard to read.

Seems that every cosequent update strips away a needed feature. When searching for addons, the majority I select are no longer functioning.

I have updated the favicon on a client site and yet my Firefox bookmark still shows the old favicon and will not update to the new one. I've cleared history and cache, deleted and re-bookmarked - all to no avail. One forum suggested an add on but the one they suggested isn't compatible with the latest version of Firefox, which I have.

Any ideas?

I saw something new in YouTube today. When I tried to watch a file (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mJVdiGpnH_s) the only resolution I could get was 360p. A video option labeled "Missing options?" brought up a YouTube help page (screenshot attached).

Why is Linux left out of this capability? It can't be because those formats are unsupportable in Linux; Chrome supports them for all of their browsers, including Linux. Why does Firefox discriminate against Linux users?

I have windows 7 32bit with Firefox v61.01 32 bit. The latest update removed the java plugin so I uninstalled Java and reinstalled. It works fine on Internet Explorer 11 but the plugin will not install on Firefox. Yes I've checked the Add-ons Manager. Yes I did close Firefox before installing and yes I've restarted Firefox. I've also installed a plugin that automatically adds websites to the allowed list on Java. So any solutions on hot to get Java plugin to install on Firefox? We have a proprietary program that requires a Java enabled browser that is not Chrome or Internet Explorer. So any suggestions?

Firefox starts downloading files immediately before confirming download dialog. In other words when you trigger a download firefox automatically starts the download process even if you do not select open or save from the pop-up dialog window. This behavior can be observed within Developer tools > network, or through system network statistics, or when you actually start the download it starts from a nonzero file size value.

Is it possible to disable this 'auto download in background' feature? Considering my connection speed & data cap I would rather prefer not to have this feature because it uses so much junk data for things I decided not to download. I tried searching about:config page but could not find a relevant parameter and did not want to break the browser by messing around.

If this has been discussed before could somebody point me to right direction? I am using version 61 by the way.

Thank you in advance for your help.
