How can I stop Firefox from asking me whether to share my location every time I visit a new page, after I've repeatedly answered Never Share My Location? I did the whole ABOUT:CONFIG thing and clicked on false for geo-location. After that, I tried to check the weather on the Weather Channel Website and the website won't show me anything except a partially loaded website. No weather! I went back to ABOUT:CONFIG and changed geo-location back to true and the Weather Channel website loaded correctly, but asked me whether I wanted to share my location, yet again! This is so frustrating!! Any other suggestions would be appreciated!

I want to be able to set the search engine used by the search bar to a country-specific one, which may not be the country that I'm in. Normally I use google.com.au and bing.com.au. If I'm in France on holiday, I still want to search using google.com.au and bing.com.au rather than letting Google auto-detect that I'm in France and turn everything into French. How can I manually set the URL used for the search engine to force it to use the Australia-specific one all the time, no matter where I am?

A similar situation occurs if I'm using a VPN; just because the VPN says that I'm in Germany doesn't mean that I want German results. Just give me google.com.au and bing.com.au that return Australian results no matter where I'm located!

In Chrome it's easy (because you can just modify the search string to add ".au" to the end), but I haven't found a way to do it in Firefox.

I have been searching the internet changing about:config settings, and sifting through files for the past two day. But now I am totally at a loss what to do next. I'm hoping someone can help me find the original help article or tell me what setting I need to adjust to fix my problem. I have Firefox 45.0, Installed with the New Tab Homepage add-on. I use Bing as my Homepage and my web search provider. I am running windows 10.

My problem is: When I add a new tab, The new tab opens to my Homepage (Bing) and the cursor appears at the top of the page in Firefox's address/location/url bar. It just drives me crazy, because I can't just start typing my search string in Bing's search box. i have to click in Bing's search box before I can start typing in the box. There is probably a keyboard short cut I can use, but a keyboard short cut is not what I'm looking for.

When I first open Firefox, Bing appears and the cursor appears in Bing's Search Box (located in the middle of the page). But when I add a tab the cursors focus shift the to the new tab, and appears in the Address/location/url bar.

About 6 months ago I found an article that explained how to change a setting in the about:config area which would make the cursor move to the Bing's search box when a new tab was started. I used the information in the article to set up my laptop and home computer. It worked great. Anytime I opened a new tab the cursor would move straight to the webpage's search box.

Recently, I had to refresh Firefox on my desktop computer. After refreshing, the cursor will no longer move to the Homepage search box automatically. The cursors will only appear in the URL/address bar at the top of the page and it only moves to the homepage search box when I click in the box.

I forgot what line I had changed in about:config to get the cursor to go to the Bing's web page search box when a new tab is opened. I compared the config setting on my desktop and the laptop but I can't find anything that is set up differently.

If anyone knows what setting I need to adjust in about:config to get the cursor to go to the Homepage Websites search box, when a new tab is opened, I would appreciate it!!

Since AdBlock Plus for Firefox 45.0.21 is no longer supported, does anyone know of another good ad blocker for Firefox for Mac?

A current limitation with the AdBlock Plus is the following error message in the Preferences window: "Warning: Adblock Plus is either disabled or not installed. For this addon to work properly, you have to install or enable Adblock Plus."

I have installed and enabled the current version of Adblock Plus, and I've also uninstalled and reinstalled this Firefox extension. But I still receive the above noted warning message.

Thanks for any suggestions on replacements for Adblocker Plus.

I have tried several times now to load different websites. When I tried to load a new page, it shows a blue spinning wheel that doesn't stop spinning and will not load most pages. Sometimes the blue wheel stops spinning, but the page is still blank. Once in a great while when I do get a page to finally load, it runs very slow taking a couple minutes to load the one page and it is not loaded properly. Also on the "loaded page" only the text shows up, but not a single image. I have also tried loading Facebook and after I got past the login page, it told me that it needed cookies to be enabled. My cookie setting was already enabled before that. Any ideas as to what could be going on? I don't know if it is something on Firefox's end or the Hughes Net service I have. I have scoured through Firefox's help and troubleshoot pages and have not found a fix. Thanks in advance for any help!

I have been using McAfee Total Protection, including McAfee Site Advisor, for a number of years and during that time it had always worked OK alongside Firefox. I have updated my McAfee subscription this week and I am now receiving a message from Firefox saying it has disabled McAfee Site Advisor. I have been in contact with McAfee who have checked Site Advisor and say it is working OK and have told me to contact Firefox. Site Advisor is working OK on Windows Explorer and Google Chrome. Firefox is my preferred browser but as it has disabled Site Advisor I am now very wary of using it because of the security risk. Can anyone help?

Hello When I use public WIFI I need to accept its rules. To do that I'm used to open my home page (https://www.google.com) and then get redirected to the sign in page for the WIFI. However, now when I do that Firefox won't accept the redirected URL saying that "The owner of www.google.com has configured their website improperly. To protect your information from being stolen, Firefox has not connected to this website". Usually it was possible to add an exception and bypass the error. Now it's simply not available if I click on "Advanced" button. I want to be able to force Firefox to accept self-signed certificates.

A previous issue that was created here, https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1011327, is not resolved. Firefox's behavior is simply wrong.

The problem has to do with Firefox searching strings in the the address bar when no keyword is specified.

If I type the name of a host in my machine's host file, Firefox should behave like any other app (for example ping) and consult the hosts file.

But instead it assumes that the string is something the user wants to search for. This without the user having entered a keyword for a search.

For example if a user has the keyword g set to search google.com, then if they enter "g somestring" in the address bar, it *should* search google for somestring.

But if the user enters "somestring" alone in the address bar, Firefox should not force a search for it, completely bypassing the hosts file.

Hello Techies, facts are these: Firefox + HTTPS Everywhere on Linux, updated once a day. I connect to my webmail, Yahoo.com, and often the padlock turns to grey+orange triangle. But https is still present in the URL bar (by the way, I've set browser.urlbar.trimURLs to false). So I try and refresh page (F5), positive result only every now and then. I tried and switched to Basic display (I guess it should be lighter), positive result only every now and then. I feel I can't do anything to fix this annoying and weird lack of security. This "instable green" only occours connecting to Yahoo. When I connect to Facebook, GMail, YouTube or whatever I do NOT have problems at all. No difference using a normal, super updated session rather than a Live one (as I'm doing right now). I've written to Yahoo Help Community to explain as above and I was told it depends on the way Firefox "sees" Yahoo, and to ask You. Thanks a lot... To me it actually IS a Yahoo problem (not the first time, though...), but still I ask you whether you can suggest how to fix the problem or you know more about it. Many thanks and best regard. Alberto

Hello, I have a problem uploading a pdf file in either Google Drive or a web form using Firefox 45.0 Mozilla Firefox for Linux Mint mint-1.0 . My SO is Mint 17.3. Google Drive mark as "unknow" the file pdf uploaded and it's not possible to open it. Web forms where I try to upload files pdf shows error message "this is not a pdf file".

In the screenshot attached to this support you can clearly see file "test 2 firefox 45.pdf" reported as unknown file.

Files "test2" and "test 2 mint" are pdf created in Mint, uploaded via Firefox 38 with SO Debian.

The same files uploaded via Firefox 45 in OneDrive works perfectly.

Any suggestions are welcome.

Thank you.

I am running Firefox 45.0.1 and have been unable to access a website that I usually use to monitor my internet usage. The site is "http://www.nwtel.ca/my-account/internet-usage-report/" and i have followed this page "https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-SEC_ERROR_UNKNOWN_ISSUER#w_the-error-occurs-on-one-particular-site-only" to try and eliminate the issue but have been unable to get anywhere. I did what the page said and tried to add it to my exceptions manually as there is no option to add it on the page but have found no luck yet. I tried emailing the company and they say contact Firefox or use Internet explorer as according to them the internet usage page is working. Looking for any help anyone can give on this as Firefox dose have a contact us option.
