I stopped using firefox because of this same issue on a french tax site and thought Id give it another go. I'd blame the sites except the problem is solved by using chrome instead.

Windows 10, all drivers up to date, latest version Firefox, only compatible addons running up to date, plugins all latest up to date Doesn't matter, 1 tab open or my usual 25+, after 32 or so minutes Firefox crashes quietly, closes slowly (I monitor memory and clean cache), then reboots itself after another 10+ seconds. I configged it to default hold extra cache (20) to try to help, no luck. Most sites operate fine on my tabs although like always memory usage creeps up slightly. But just now, to crash with only ONE tab open and sometimes linking and opening just 1 more from my email, STILL crashed. Strange. Never happened before WIN 10 and the update from maybe Firefox 44 to 48.

This issue is going on for a few months already. At some point my Firefox lost the ability to display some Chinese characters. This is a big issue for me, because I use Chinese almost daily. They're not rarely used characters either. One examples is (you'll be able to see it, I am not): "问" (Now I see only two quotation marks but I know that there is a character in between them.)

Here are the details of what's going on:

When I enter Chinese characters on most websites (not all of them!), only some of them will be displayed, while others are invisible. Thus when I enter a whole phrase, it's difficult to check whether I made any mistakes. I know the characters are there, because I can move my cursor through the characters and it'll stay at the same place, internally counting that invisible character, when I move over one of those invisibles. Also when I write Chinese text messages, the other person never seems to be missing any characters from my messages. Also when I copy paste them into an editor, they're clearly there and visible.

So what I've tried so far is only the following:

I went to: about:preferences#content and then set a font, which I know can display the characters (WenQuanYi Micro Hei). Also I enabled the checkbox with the label "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above".

So either almost aaaaall of the websites I am using suddenly removed their own font choices (highly unlikely) and FF can't use the font set by me properly, or there is another issue at work here.

I also tried with another profile, by starting FF using the command line: firefox -P A completely new profile, no addons installed or anything, but still some Chinese characters are missing.

Information about my machine: OS: Xubuntu 14.04 Firefox Version: 44.0.2 (shouldn't really matter as this is going on for a long time now) (Any other information required?)

Example for a website on which FF is displaying Chinese characters correctly: http://www.mdbg.net

Using Windows 10, upgraded to 44.0.2. Now Firefox says it unexpectedly crashes when opening and gives me the option to start in safe mode or refresh. I tried refreshing but nothing changed. I tried to open in start mode, but only get a white screen and then it says "Not Responding" in parentheses on top bar of page. I have tried a clean uninstall per directions on Mozilla support. I also captured the crash ID per Mozilla support and that is below:

First of all, thanks for volunteering your time. I really appreciate it.

My problem has to do with my inability to restore my bookmarks. To begin with, at some point recently, my bookmarks "disappeared". I initially thought that they were lost and gone forever - but subsequently found an encouraging note that Firefox saves the last fifteen backups - backups that are done automatically. With that information in hand, I went to the Mozilla article 'Restoring from backups". Per the instructions, I clicked on the Bookmarks button, selected "All Bookmarks" to open the Library window, clicked "Import and Backup" and then selected "Restore". A number of backups appeared in a list and I selected the one that I wanted to restore from. It is 40.7 kb in size and has 500 items. (Needless to say, when I saw that information, I breathed a major sigh of relief.) I highlighted that one and clicked "OK". According to the article : "Your bookmarks from the selected date should now be restored." Wrong! There has been no restoration. There has been no change in the bookmarks list . My question: What need I do - or what need I do differently - to restore the bookmarks? Thanks again.

In any Firefox browser window that includes account-based content, such as an email newsletter building web app like MyEmma, or a domain hosting account page, much of the content shows up as dingbats instead of in the specified font (Times, Arial, etc.). I tried to upload a screen shot, but Firefox just kept spinning without success when it came to my 270kb jpg file.

I checked my font management software (Suitcase Fusion 5), two other browsers (Chrome and Safari) and my fonts, but I have not found any issues. The only other culprit I might identify as far as a potential cause is a recent update I made to my Mac OS, from Mountain Lion to Mavericks. But, no seeing any related questions here in the community forum, I have exhausted all the troubleshooting directions I can think of, and can't seem to figure out myself how to fix this debilitating font issue. Any ideas?

I've been trying to comment on WordPress blogs anonymously (i.e. where you simply type in your screenname and email address) since the update to Firefox 44, and what happens is that it refreshes the page and takes me to the top without posting the comment. At first I thought it may be the moderator of the sites, but I wrote one and they said that they weren't blocking or removing my comments, so they are simply not making it through. I can't imagine which plugin or extension could be causing this as I've played with them to no avail.

Anyone else having this problem.

This simple script snippet has always worked in the past, and it even works correctly in IE. But in Firefox it opens a new window at about 400 x 400 pixels.

<a href="javascript: void(0)" onclick="window.open('January.shtml','windowname1','width=850, height=600');

What needs to be changes in the FF configuration so it works correctly?

Failure to get this to work correctly means I will have to discontinue supporting Firefox and go to Internet Explorer where the script works.

Thanks for any support you can provide.

In recent weeks, I have encountered more than a few websites that Firefox (ver. 44.0.2) does not handle. Main my problems have been (1) either the browser fails to respond when clicking "submit" or (2) page printing produces garbage. I have reproduced these problems on two Windows 10 machines running Firefox, so I don't think the problem is my installation. Moreover, in every instance, my problems have been solved by switching to Chrome or Edge and completing the same actions. All other aspects of Firefox are working perfectly on my machines.

Might anyone have suggestions about what is going on here?

I have used Firefox almost since its inception. While I have, over time, flirted with other browsers, I've always returned to Firefox. But these recent problems may be the last straw because they impeded workflow, increase frustration and require a significant commitment of unnecessary time. Whether the issue is with Firefox or particular websites really does not matter because the result is the same.

Thanks for your help.
