Hi :) I have a problem with FireFox and I hope someone will be able to help me sort it out :) After the last update there is a new "feature" that is driving me insane and it's slowing me down to the point I'm ready to ditch FF. I'm talking about the "Open with Firefox" option, under "What should Firefox do with this file?". Is there any way for me to remove this "feature" from the dialog and to revert to the old "Open with..." and "Save File" list? Why is this thing there in the first place, I wonder?!

Thank you for you time and help!

HI,

I am trying to get Firefox to fill in my saved log-ins. Each time i launch the browser i have to go and set the "remember saved passwords" checkbox under optoins->security. Then it fills in all passwords fine. but if i quit the browser and re-launch the problem returns and when i go to options the box to remember passwords in un-checked again.

thanks!

Hello. I like to end my text conversations with this cute little fish: <{~~< But it's quite difficult to type on a desktop, so I made a shortcut to it in my mac OS, by typing pf. It works everywhere on my machine but on firefox, which is my preferred browser for chatting, so it's the only time I really need to use it. It's a serious buzzkil, especially since it SHOULD WORK, but doesn't. Can anyone help? I'm on a brand new machine, with a brand new (June 29 2020) download of Firefox with the french canadian language pack installed (it didn't work before I put the language pack on either).

Thanks in advance.

My HOME page (Gmail) will not open automatically. I have specified the proper Gmail HOME link in options:

But the link gets converted to the following when I log on to Firefox, and the screen freezes a blank white:

This same link works if I sign on with Google Chrome, but I prefer to use Firefox.

Hi there :-)

W.r.t. FireFox 77, I need to know if the 'Open Menu' button on the far right of the default installation is PROGRAMMATICALLY customizable ? I want to remove it as part of hardening the browser for a desktop application that must be accessible via the Internet. While I respect the fact that client-side hardening is not best practice, let's not go there please :-)

I have successfully used userChrome.css, but I don't want to have to place this file manually nor manually set the 'toolkit.legacyUserProfileCustomizations.stylesheets' preference to 'true' on all the client machines, but rather manage this centrally on the server side as is possible with autoconfig.cfg together with the autoadmin.global_config_url preference setting. Is it possible?

I have also tried specifying the 'browser.uiCustomization.state' in the autoconfigfile.js file changing the default 'about:config' setting from this >>>

{"placements":{"widget-overflow-fixed-list":[],"nav-bar":["back-button","forward-button","stop-reload-button","home-button","customizableui-special-spring1","urlbar-container","customizableui-special-spring2","downloads-button","library-button","sidebar-button","fxa-toolbar-menu-button"],"toolbar-menubar":["menubar-items"],"TabsToolbar":["tabbrowser-tabs","new-tab-button","alltabs-button"],"PersonalToolbar":["personal-bookmarks"]},"seen":["developer-button","webide-button"],"dirtyAreaCache":["nav-bar","toolbar-menubar","TabsToolbar","PersonalToolbar","widget-overflow-fixed-list"],"currentVersion":16,"newElementCount":10}

to this ('pref') format >>> {\"placements\":{\"nav-bar\":[\"stop-reload-button\",\"customizableui-special-spring1\",\"urlbar-container\",\"customizableui-special-spring2\",\"downloads-button\"]},\"dirtyAreaCache\":[\"nav-bar\"],\"currentVersion\":16,\"newElementCount\":10}

but while the other controls are removed, the 'Open Menu' button as well as the 'Back' and 'Forward' arrows are not removed even after restarting Firefox. Is there another preference that should be used to remove or hide at least the 'Open Menu' button?

Thanks for your help. APB

How can I stop loading some pinned tabs when Firefox starts? I know I can set about:config to not load all pinned tabs. What I want to do is not load some specific pinned tabs instead of all pinned tabs. I made a simple addon like the one I attached and tested it, but some tabs are loaded. I have tested this code with about 10 tabs pinned. (When I actually create the addon, I would run browser.tabs.discard() with a specific tab, but this will stop loading all tabs for testing.) This is unstable. Is there any sure way to stop the load?

--- manifest.json {

   "manifest_version": 2,
   "name": "discard test",
   "version": "1.0.0.0",
   "permissions": [

"tabs"

   ],
   "background": {

"scripts": [ "background.js" ]

   }

}

--- background.js browser.runtime.onStartup.addListener(discard_pinned_tabs); function discard_pinned_tabs() {

   browser.tabs.query({pinned: true}).then(async tabs => {

for (let tab of tabs) { await browser.tabs.discard(tab.id);

	    console.log(tab.index, tab.id, tab.discarded, tab.title, tab);

}

   });

}

// browser.tabs.query({pinned: true}).then(async tabs => { // for (let tab of tabs) { // await browser.tabs.discard(tab.id); // console.log(tab.index, tab.id, tab.discarded, tab.title, tab); // } // });

setTimeout(() => {

   browser.tabs.query({pinned: true}).then(tabs => {

for (let tab of tabs) { if (!tab.discarded) { console.log(tab.index, tab.id, tab.discarded, tab.title, tab); } }

   });

}, 5000);

I really need help with this problem. I recently had to re-download my Firefox to fix an problem I had with my Computer and when it was done, my Browsing Protection by F-Secure no longer is working. I went to the extensions and it was not there. I then reset it on my Security Suite and nothing. I even re-set my Security Suite and Firefox to fix this problem and again nothing. On Google Chrome it works but not here. I even tried to search to see if it could be added through the Extension, nothing. So here hoping you guys know a way to do it. I really do not like searching without it.

Thank you

Hello, all...

I'm running Solus 4.1 with the 5.6.18-155 kernel on my Asus UX330UAR and Firefox Nightly 79.0a1 (2020-06-26) (64-bit). Currently, I used Android Messages for Web via a "webapp" in Brave and am provided a "desktop icon" for that window; however, I'd much rather use my default Firefox and just discovered the "browser.ssb.enabled" setting.

The "trouble" is doing so does not provide any icon to launch by itself; that is, I must be already in Firefox to use the "App Mode."

Any ideas on how to accomplish this dream?

Thanks for any ideas!

Hey, So I have set my homepage to netflix and it until recently would always open on netflix whenever the firefox icon was clicked on the desktop. recently it stopped doing that and only shows a blank tab. The settings for homepage are still set to netflix. If I load firefox in safe mode then it does load netflix. I have deleted and purged firefox, deleted my profile folder, and removed all extensions. But it is still just showing a blank page when opening a new window. Also if I create a new launcher on the desktop and have it load firefox and any webpage it will open firefox but not the page. When I click the homebutton it takes me to netflix. I know this isn't really a major issue, but it's pretty annoying. Thanks for your help, Jim

Hi,

I have recently changed my first choice browser to Firefox. But when connecting to my bank the F-secure bank safe connection doesn't open (it still does on Edge).

When searching solutions I found on F-secure support that a requisite for bank protection on Firefox was to active an add-on in Firefox called "Browsing Protection by F-Secure". But I can't find it. Is this Firefox add-on deleted? (I have surched the archive/store.)

Do you have any other solutions how to activate the F-secure bank safe connection, and some kind of F-secure browsing protectiona s well?

Best regards / Gunnar J
