Is there a way that I can change this setting in config rather than downloading an add-on? This changed with the most recent Firefox update for me (I'm currently on 85.0.1. for Ubuntu). Currently, the default save behavior is for bookmarks to save to the most recent folder you've picked. My preferred behavior would be for all bookmarks to save to "Other bookmarks" until I can file them away later.

Hello,
I am looking for a way to hide my tab bar when there is only one tab open. I almost found the solution there: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1297983 But it is not exactly what i am looking for. This solution hides the tab but not the tab bar it self. I mean it leaves some black empty space because i use dark theme.
I kept looking for a solution to hide the container. I found this one: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1271391 The problem is: this solution hides all the time the tab bar. No maters how many tabs opened.
I experimented mixing these two solution. I have try:
visibility: collapse;
}
I tried the other way around, with "#mainwindow" first. I tried without the "+" sign. But none worked out.

Users have been complaining about update nags for several years, and when a solution is found via about:config, Mozilla typically puts a spanner in the works and deletes the relevant config items like 'app.update.silent', 'app.update.doorhanger... etc.
I just want to remove the popup, not the ability to update. I'll update when I'm good and ready, and I don't need a popup each and every day nagging me to do so.
If Mozilla must ape Chrome, then aping Chrome's non-nagging update policy would be a good move.

Hi there, How can I get the horizontal print menu bar to display (with "Simplify Page" option)? It was displaying until recently, and then mysteriously just went away. I really need that "Simplify Page" option to display always (whether active or grayed-out). Any suggestions? Cheers, Stephen Gareau

When I go to a web page which is a PDF, the web page used to load as a PDF. Now there are 2 tabs, one is blank and has an address which refers to the PDF location, and the other is a PDF saved to the Temp folder (eg. file:///C:/Users/USER/AppData/Local/Temp/some_PDF.pdf)
My preference is: www.some_website/some_PDF.pdf
This is because I save the tabs, and the next time I use Firefox, the temporary PDF is not loaded anymore. As well, I prefer 1 tab instead of 2.
Where is the setting to adjust?

Here's all I want. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. When I start Mozilla Firefox I want it to open with three tabs... ❶ https://www.goese.com/favorites/index.html ❷ https://www.goese.com/reference/unicode.html ❸ https://messages.google.com/web/conversations
From then on, when I click on the home button, I only want the tab/page I'm viewing to switch to this page... https://www.goese.com/favorites/index.html ⬤ https://www.goese.com/favorites/index.html
Is Firefox capable of doing this? (Chrome is, but got WAY too slow recently...to a point I couldn't take it anymore.) Right now if I use those three pages for startup, the home button opens a new session in all three pages, which makes no sense to me. I need to be able to specify different & separate pages for "startup" and "home." I'm old so I'm probably just looking at the interface wrong.
Thanks!

It happened that I worked with an online workbook for classes that I have a subscription for. By mistake I pressed a keyboard shortcut (regrettably I don't remenber it, otherwse I would simply repeat the shortcut), and the content turned by 90 degrees. But not all of the content. The toolbar of the workbook ist still in the same position as it should be.
My suspicion is that the workbook simply is a PDF and that only the embedded PDF turned but not the whole browser window? Has anybody an idea of what to do?
Thank you!

Hello everyone, I'm working on customizing the Firefox experience for users within my organization.
I have to really limit their access. One of those requests were to prevent users from minimizing their active Firefox window.
I've found articles like the one below that show how to hide all the buttons: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/906698
However it does not suit the purpose. since it removes all of them and only on full screen.
Is there a way I can just hide the minimize button so that the user can just hide the minimize button?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Even in safe mode, I cannot make a change to my default search engine stick; it always reverts to DuckDuckGo.
After changing the default search engine in Preferences->Search to, say, Ecosia Search, typing a space character in the address+search bar goes from a generic world favicon to DuckDuckGo. Restarting with a cleared cache doesn't help.
None of my addons are related to search except Ecosia Search. Even with Ecosia Search removed, I get the same behavior, the default search engine reverts to DuckDuckGo. In any case, safe mode with all addons disabled doesn't change that behavior.
If i remove DuckDuckGo from the list of search engines, I cannot search at all and I cannot choose a default search enigne from the drop down list in Preferences->Search.
Note that I can always choose an alternate search engine in the drop down search menu, and that works. Setting a default search engine doesn't work.
Any suggestions on how to make a search engine other than DuckDuckGo be my default search engine would be appreciated. As a bonus, an explanation of why I'm having this difficulty would be wonderful.
TIA.

I had to reinstall Windows recently. For some reason, Firefox no longer seems to keep me logged in to Lastpass and Pushbullet. More than half of the time I load a new session, Lastpass will give me a cookies notice but does remember my details in the fields, whereas Pushbullet shoves a login screen in my face and I have to go through the hassle of signing in with Google.
My browser has always been set to erase everything on close, but this has never effected extensions, so I'm surprised it suddenly does so. I don't think my settings are any different than they have been previously. I've tried making the lastpass and pushbullet websites as exceptions and playing with various privacy settings but am unable to replicate the 'correct' behaviour I had before.
Am I missing something here please? Has something changed in recent versions of Firefox?
Settings are: Standard tracking protection Always do not track Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed is checked with Lastpass.com and Pushbullet.com as exceptions All options under 'Logins and passwords' unchecked Always use private browsing mode, remember browsing and download history, and remember search and form history are all unchecked Clear history when firefox closes is checked, and in settings, all boxes are checked

Using an online accounting website, data entry is done through a data grid with a data control.
The accounting software allows for the option to use their own date selection control or to use the Firefox date selection control. I don't like the software's date selection control, I prefer Firefox's. However, when set to the Firefox date selection control AND if the fields in the data entry grid get wider than the screen, Firefox shrinks the date selection control to practically nothingness and the value in the control cannot be seen.
Is there something I can do stop Firefox from doing this?
I've attached an image containing 1. the data entry grid 2. the Firefox date selection control when the data entry grid is wider than the screen 3. the software date selection control when the data entry grid is wider than the screen

Hello,
See on the joined image, older Firefox and last one. When this is a text in another language like this, this is ugly, and even on usual language, I'm not blind, I can see the old lighter underline!
Why this? Can I change it maybe in userChrome.css?

Hi. Yesterday, I browsed thru my Firefox and/or GMail settings, and removed headers and footers from my printed copies of emails and web pages. Which is fine. However, at the same time I must have mistakenly changed a setting so that my print-ready version of an email or web page always displays in B & W, not in color. Although it will print in color, depending on how I have my HP printer set. How can I change that back so the print-ready Print Preview copy displays pics, etc. in color? I forgot what I did. Aarrgh! Please help! Thanks. John Darin

This sometimes happens for example while filling in a form on a web page. I intend to copy/paste text into an input box of the form but I accidentally paste it outside of the box. This causes Firefox to perform an undesired search based on my text.
Can this be turned off?

I have Firebug 1.10.6 installed on top of Firefox 16.0.2. After installation of Firebug I see the bug icon in the upper right corner of my window, next to the home icon. After restarting Firefox, the icon is gone. I don't know how to start Firebug other than by clicking the icon. Please explain to me: how to get the Firebug icon after restarting Firefox, or, alternatively, how to start Firebug without icon.
