I just deleted my cache / history, and for some reason this also took Foxit Reader out of my printer options. How do I get it back in? I Tried using "Find Printer", but it would not except an .exe as a printer. I first put Foxit in so long ago, I have no memory of how I did it. I print to pdf most of the time when saving a receipt, etc. and would rather use Foxit than ms. Thanks

This is driving me nuts.

My desired behavior is that, when I middle-mouse-click on a hyperlink, Firefox launches a new window (not a tab) with that URL.

This is how it was working before a power interruption forced my computer to restart tonight, and my desired behavior has gone away.

The middle mouse button works for other functions; and, middle-clicking on bookmarks in my bookmark bar does launch a new window with that bookmark as expected. However, middleclicking a hyperlink does nothing.

I have browser.tabs.opentabfor.middleclick = false and in the options menu, "open links in tabs instead of new windows" is unchecked. Additionally I have set browser.link.open_newwindow = 2.

Can anyone help me here? This is driving me slightly batty.

Hello,

I am looking for a way to hide my tab bar when there is only one tab open. I almost found the solution there: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1297983 But it is not exactly what i am looking for. This solution hides the tab but not the tab bar it self. I mean it leaves some black empty space because i use dark theme.

I kept looking for a solution to hide the container. I found this one: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1271391 The problem is: this solution hides all the time the tab bar. No maters how many tabs opened.

I experimented mixing these two solution. I have try:

  1. tabbrowser-tabs tab[first-visible-tab="true"][last-visible-tab="true"] + #mainwindow:not([tabsintitlebar="true"]) #TabsToolbar {
 visibility: collapse;

}

I tried the other way around, with "#mainwindow" first. I tried without the "+" sign. But none worked out.

The new update released hours ago has introduced problems that Google Chrome had, which is the very first reason in the first place that I left Chrome to get Firefox.

The menus have been made larger, with more clutter. This is especially apparent in every instance of bookmarks. The text and icons and space between the bookmarks have all been increased in size, making it more annoying and less clean to use, as well as looking unpleasant. No settings will allow me to zoom out on the menus or tabs or bookmarks. The tabs and the prompts have also been redesigned along with menus and it looks awful. I left Chrome to avoid the style and it has unfortunately followed me to Firefox.

Everything about this update has made the browser worse and more akin to Chrome, which I heavily dislike. I understand this is nitpicking and doesn't matter much. I still would like the old version back. Is there a way I can download the old version of Firefox anywhere? Heavy thanks to whoever reads and responds.

Is it possible to open Firefox from command line (or shortcut) without loading the URL or tab bars?

My current workaround is to load the URL and then click a bookmarklet which opens the tab in a popup window. Is there a way to open a link directly in a popup window?

I've scanned about:config to no avail, and it seems all the popup extensions just do what my bookmarklet does.

Ideally there would be a command line flag like --popup which does exactly that, but the closest thing I could find is --headless and --kiosk which don't work that way.

I also made a new profile named "popup" and intended to add extensions which hide the nav bar, but it looks like extensions aren't allowed to do that any more.

1. I had downloaded previous PDF files using Microsoft Edge. They came up on Firefox with no problems. I was able to highlight PDF text with no problems. 2. Today, I flipped a switch to download a PDF file using Firefox and to always display PDF files in Firefox. All previous Edge PDF files immediately had their icon changed. 3. Now, I can define the PDF text I want to highlight, but there is no action to click on to make the highlighting happen in a color of my choice.

Windows 7SP1. With the Firefox 78.0.1 update, search with Amazon.com, You Tube, Facebook, Reddit, Wikipedia and Twitter appear below the address bar when I start to type the url. I only have as default DuckDuckGo and Start Page HTTPS selected in options, and no alternatives.

I saw the one reply to this issue to use the about:config, browser.urlbar.oneOffSearches, change to false. This did not work.

Why has this been done? I don’t want them and I don’t use them. How do I get rid of this?

I can't seem to figure out how to have the desktop shortcut for Firefox open a new window even when I have a window already open. As it is, when I click on the shortcut when I have a Firefox window already open, it simply opens a new tab. I do want to keep links opening in new tabs, I just want to be able to open a new window with the shortcut. Is there a way of doing this?

I'm working with Windows 10 Home on a Lenovo laptop.

Hi,

Talking briefly about the size of games nowadays and SSD, i checked some stuff and saw Firefox writing 4.5 Mo/s (= MB/s). I wanted to see what that was, and saw it's mainly firefox cache. From there i searched and found a few sites suggesting and showing the settings to change to switch from disk cache to RAM cache. I did so since i've enough free RAM from a little while now. Changed settings (in about:config):

  • browser.cache.disk.enable from true to false
  • browser.cache.disk_cache_ssl from true to false

browser.cache.memory.enable was already on true and browser.cache.memory.capacity on -1 (not sure it's the best setting, only displaying 32768 KiB in about:cache... Any insight appreciated).

The concern: Cf. title, about:cache is still displaying the cache is also on disk, while i don't see writings being done related to the cache on the SSD. Is it just a display error in this configuration, or is there something else? If it's an error, i guess i should report it if it's not already done on the appropriate platform after.

Also, i hope the 4.5 Mo/s was just a peak, because if it's constantly like that if you've Twitch opened for instance, that's a major issue. On a SSD like the Samsung 850 EVO 250GB with its small TBW of 75, that's slightly less than 193 full days.

I am using "browser.link.open_newwindow.restriction" to force links that normally open in new windows, to instead open in new tabs. It all works fine, except when I click those links, Firefox switches to the new tabs immediately when I click them. I would like the tabs to open in new tabs but I do not want Firefox to immediately switch to them.

Please note that I have unchecked "When you open a link in a new tab, switch to it immediately". Meaning, Firefox correctly does not switch to new tabs for normal links. However, it is switching to the new tabs for links that would normally open in new windows.
