Symptoms: Very slow with very frequent freezing of Firefox 57.0 for up to 20 seconds.

Environment: Windows 10 Creators Fall 2017 Edition Intel HD Graphics 4000 Driver 07/04/2017 10.18.10.4653 - latest available.

Fixes tried: Disable HW acceleration webgl.disabled=true Neither worked

Tried MS Driver: Uninstalled device and deleted driver. Windows installed a generic driver.

  • Firefox then worked normally.
  • Generic driver is not an acceptable solution because it does not support the size of my monitor - it is a 4:3 window on a 9:16 display.

Reinstalled latest Intel driver - problem recurred.

Since updating to version57.0 64 bit Firefox has become unusable with 30 sec wait times for actions to happen after a mouse click. I am using Windows 10 Home Ver 1709 OS Build 16299.64. I have carried out all the Troubleshooting suggestions including reinstalling twice with no change. Microsoft Edge works perfectly as do all the other elements of the PC. Typing this is taking ages as the software cannot keep up and I have to wait 30 sec for the words to appear. After many satisfied years of using Firefox I am close to dumping it. After upgrading to V57.0 Mozilla is almost impossible to use because it is so slow, for example taking 10 to 20 seconds to open (or close) a new tab. Won't maximise from taskbar icon when minimised (opening another tab before minimising then closing Mozilla from taskbar produces dialog box and maximises). Using Chrome to send this as Mozilla is too slow. Note that Chrome is working perfectly. Thanks

Since the new version, firefox is incredible slow; it semi hangs when filling in a field... any field including address or search field but also fields in webforms, selecting an item from a drop down list, selecting a destination folder when downloading a file, selecting a file for uploading, etc etc I'm using the 64bit version on a 64bit windows 10 desktop with a nvidia gtx 1050 ti... So hardware is quite ok i guess. On the other hand, once a site is found, loading is incredibly fast!

Since the upgrade Firefox Quantum is not working properly. Ex 1: scrolling is not consistent, when I click and attempt to move the scroll bar is does not move right away. Ex 2: clicking is not consistent, I click a link and it does not respond for several seconds. Ex 2a: clicking on and to close tabs takes several seconds to respond, even clicking to close may get a "not responding" message on the title bar before closing. I saw on previous questions that there may be a compatibility issue with the display adapters. I have the following : Intel HD Graphics 630 and NVIDIA GeForce GTC 1050. I am running Windows 10 64bit. I have uninstalled and reinstalled to no avail. Please let me know if you have any questions.

I HATE THE NEW QUANTUM!!!!

I upgraded from the latest version (57? 58?) and immediately lost all my session tabs. GONE.. no trace.. Then I backed up my profile to a new folder and noticed that the new quantum was AT A STAND STILL.. Literally not a single thing worked.. 30seconds - a full minute or more before it acknowledges each click of the mouse.. I re-installed it from a clean slate after deleting the profile folder, and all traces (except for the back in a new folder) and re-installed quantum..

AGAIN.. At a standstill..

I RECORDED a video of what I am dealing with:

Hello, I have troubles with new Firefox Quantum. I have HP Zbook 15u G4. I update firefox from version 56 to 57. From the first time I had stucks when I scroll thru the wepages. But it stuck approximately every 10sec. I tried to refresh firefox and also the "clean instalation". I had remove all extensions but it still same problem with stucks. I also tried to turn the Firefox into emergency mode. Nothing help me. I had to try also update Firefox on my old TP W500 and there is everything allright. I have no idea what I do wrong. What can I do, to solve this problem? Thanks all for help.

Firefox updated to Quantum and blows Win8.1 dual processor out of the water. Usage runs as high as 100% Here's a screenshot. I picked a dull website with no ads running etc. CPU usage spikes every few seconds and Firefox averages really high compared to Internet Explorer. Notice the regular spikes in usage don't correlate with disk usage so I don't think it's causing paging to occur. What has Mozilla done to Firefox to cause this?

Why is the new Firefox version a disaster on my PC running Windows 10 - it is so slow to respond to clicks or typing I am using Microsoft Edge instead for this!

I was notified of the existence of the new version but delayed downloading it, on the principle that "completely new" software often has many bugs. However, the automatic update system moved me to the new version, since when, instead of being "twice as fast" everything takes much more than twice as long. I have been estimating response times by counting "1 and 2 and..." and find it can take anything between 5 and about 20 seconds to respond to a click, even for just opening or closing a tab. Typing anything in the new version is a real pain as I can get a couple of words ahead of the screen in spite of being a slow typist and then have to stop as I am not sure it is actually working. I had trouble logging in to my emails, I suspect because Firefox was sending my password a few characters at a time, in spite of my checking there were the right number of characters shown on the screen before sending it. Also one of the tiles on the New Tab tab refuses to be deleted! In case there had been some problem with the update I uninstalled and then reinstalled Firefox but it has made no difference.

Is it possible to return to the old version and, if so, how? If not then I shall just have to abandon Firefox ( I should point out that even Microsoft gave the option of choosing when to move to Windows 10 and going back if you didn't like it but Mozilla has been totally arrogant in introducing this new version).

Today Firefox automatically upgraded itself. After the upgrade, it is incredibly slow. Home page never finishes loading. Tried a simple page (google, com) and that loaded but nothing would work. Could not type in search bar. Could not access any of the Firefox menu (ie: help or tools) The upgrade also occurred several days ago and did the same thing. I did a system restore to get back to the earlier version. But again the automatic upgrade has struck.

I have been a Firefox user for years and am amazed that an upgrade could be so terrible! As a result, I have switched to Chrome and will stop recommending Firefox to everyone/anyone until the problem is resolved. After 25 years in the IT business, I do not wish to spend several hours troubleshooting a problem caused by and "upgrade"! I will attempt to start Firefox every once in a while to see if the next "upgrade" cures the problem. Until then...

Goodbye Firefox!

Usage: using Firefox quantum and opening pages just fine.regular use with about 15 tabs open. notebook enters standby because i just closed the lid. lets wait 30 minutes and go back to work.

Symptoms: Continuing to work on Firefox Quantum after reopening my notebook lid and exits standby is almost impossible due to slowness. click a tab, open a page, write something, it takes more than 30s seconds to do it.

Temporal Fix: Either never go to stand by or close firefox and reopen. After closing and reopening, everything goes back to normal.

Reproducible: yes, looks likeeverytime.
