How do I make firefox my default browser when using search bar on task bar for windows 11. Although all my settings have the default browser as firefox microsoft, edge is what comes up when I use the taskbar search window.

When I select Photos from menu (top right bars), I get Google message that there is a problem with my cookie settings and I need to enable them. I haven't changed them.

System: Linux Mint 22.3 Xfce Firefox web-browser: mint-001 - 1.0 _ 155.0.1 (64-bit) Hardware: Both on my Desktop and Laptop computers.

Since the recent updates, 1-2 weeks, every time I try to enter a character via Unicode insertion, CTRL+ALT+U, the character does not insert but a row break. I made a video about it: https://youtu.be/OP9UCGpZdEc

This happens in every website I use; mostly likely on every website.

Is there anything I can do now?

After recent Firefox update in v 154, saved passwords do not auto-fill in all websites. Actually, not even the username is loaded. I tried to open in troubleshoot mode and didn't work too. I tried to log out and re-login and fixed for a while only. Then same issue re-occurred. In websites where I have multiple accounts it's too hard to find the proper one. In the Settings > Passwords everything is enabled.

I'm only noticing it when using Facebook, but an Internet search says the setting is in my browser. I've now checked my Firefox settings and see nothing about it. Would appreciate help.

When attempting to enter log in information automatically, the expected notification appears and is confirmed, but the "Logins & Passwords" repository remains empty.

When attempting to enter log in info manually, from the "Logins & Passwords"page, the error message "an error occurred while trying to save this password" pops up after filling the fields under "Create New Login" and hitting the "Save" button.

I know I'm working on borrowed time with this setup, but I'd like to squeeze as much life as I can out of this old Mac, and having a functioning password manager is high priority.

I've been relying on backup/recovery from backup because firefox now deletes my profile/session every time it does a meaningful update (several times a month).

Now, one stupid/broken thing is that I have to re-enable backup every time I restore my profile/session (this setting, backup ON, should be included in the profile/session!).

The second broken thing is that now I can't re-enable backup today, after yesterday's update.

I can fakely turn backup ON, but when I click "backup now", I always get "Hmm, there was a problem backing up. Learn more"

Learn more has no useful information. Waiting a few minutes, like it suggests, does nothing. Now, I'm going to get my profile deleted the next time firefox updates, and I won't even be able to restore from backup.

Finally, whoever's in charge of this feature needs to learn English. Log in is a verb, login is a noun and an adjective. Similarly, back up is a verb, backup is a noun and and adjective. You can't "backup" your profile. You BACK UP your profile. A backup is a noun. You can't do nouns. You do verbs. I back up my profile. I back up (verb) the backup (noun) in a backup (adjective) file.

Well, I am in a real mess. Three days ago I lost the ability to access my favourite website. I CAN access the website in the Brave browser. The website owner has told me that it is not a problem with my account with them so it must be a Firefox issue. Before this happened I had been trying to move and delete files on my laptop and have got very confused about EVERYTHING. In that I had deleted my Firefox recovery folder(s). I have managed to move them back into my Home folder before they expire. Now I am being asked to enter my "password" to initiate the restore. But the several Firefox passwords in my laptop are not being accepted. How can I get a new password? If that is not possible do I have to delete my Firefox account? What is my best way to recover from this mess? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I have noticed several automatic updates in the last several days.

Yesterday, I started my Lenovo laptop and clicked on Firefox to start my business day. Clicked on the icon. Nothing opened on my screen. Each time I clicked, a thumbnail would open (see attached image).

I can right click on the icon. I tried open a new window. Nothing. I tried open private browser. Icon opened, I can see thumbnail, but it did not open either.

I tried to download new Firefox. Same. I tried to delete Firefox from Installed Apps in settings. Then I was asked if I wanted to Refresh Firefox instead of deleting. It saved my Firefox files. Thank you. I followed the steps. Firefox worked throughout the day.

This morning I tried to open Firefox...nothing except thumbnails like in the photo.

Photo has version date for Firefox. Dated yesterday 9.9.2026.

All I have access to is right click on Firefox icon in my tray. I cannot see any settings.

I'm not sure how long this has been happening (maybe at least a month), but my browsing history isn't syncing properly between my desktop and phone. Previously, my desktop history was syncing to my phone, but not vice-versa. Bookmarks, passwords and tabs are syncing perfectly fine. I've tried enabling/disabling sync settings and signing out and in again and now my phone history is syncing to my desktop, but my desktop history has stopped syncing to my phone. While having the full browsing history on my desktop is preferable, it would be ideal for it to show up on both my desktop and phone.

From time to time, sometimes after Firefox updates, I get unintelligible characters on tabs, search bar on Firefox. It gets more frustrating because the issue extends to the Settings menu, so applying the fixes I see on the web is definitely not easy.

I am on macOS, a newer chip and below is what I tried.

Restarting Firefox Checking the library for duplicate font installations. Disabling the extensions Starting Firefox on troubleshoot mode Uninstalling/reinstalling Firefox Uncheck Use recommended performance settings (blindfolded by using the search panel under Firefox Settings) Uncheck Use hardware acceleration when available (blindfolded by using the search panel under Firefox Settings)

I use the link provided in firefox help. It provides a window with a link to download a new version. but I click on the link, get an update window. I click on the download now and the download doesn't happen. It just sits there showing 0 bytes downloaded. How to update?

Accidentally told Fire-Fox to allow access to a website without two step authentication. I want to restore the ability to the website so the website requires a phone call to sign in.

This device is essentially a thumb drive made by MOPAR that contains automotive serve diagrams for a Jeep Wrangler. When you boot this device with Firefox being the primary browser you get garbage instead of schematic drawings. If I make Edge the primary browser the card boots properly and runs. This a legally obtained card with no password system on board.

Firefox security features warning on Linux doesn't explain what kind of file to add to apparmor.d/firefox-local. Is it a .txt file, or something else?

I recently made a backup (via the option under Account and sync in the settings), as I was switching to a new OS. Unfortunately, when selecting the backup in the new OS, I am greeted with the error message:

This file isn’t working. Try picking a different file.

According to this, my file is corrupted. Is there anything I can do to fix this, or have I just lost all my data? I no longer have access to the profile files in the original OS.

I made a change somewhere that caused a total loss of history/open tabs even in my tab manager extension. I can't remember exactly what it was I changed but nothing I have searched here has been helpful in recovering from this. I did not want to bring my profile from home as I am using Firefox here in a work environment. Can someone point me to or explain a step by step method to be able to do this? Nothing I found in searching here has been positive.
