My current version of Firefox is 151.0.4 (64-bit) & for the past 2 weeks or so every time I use the search bar to google something it triggers one of those "We've detected unusual activity from your network" requiring a Captcha. At first I tried all of the typical stuff [antivirus, vpn, extensions, etc...] to make sure that wasn't the issue. But as of yesterday & confirmed today I can actually go to Google's website first & do the search from there with no issue & no captcha.

So, whatever the issue is has to do specifically with doing the search via the search bar... for some reason. Is this a bug in the browser, or is there perhaps some setting that could cause this to happen in the about:config page? Though, I doubt a setting could be it because I've changed the settings I've changed now for years without causing this issue.

Since the last update, Firefox is not working properly. The search engine is completely dead, not working at all, and anything related to Google, like Gmail, never opens. I've tried several things, but nothing works.

In this version of Firefox 152 for windows I'm currently unable to remove search related to google, ebay, perplexity and bing.

Please return possibility to remove those completely!

I don't want my browser to have anything to do with those listed above. I have had it removed in previous versions. Why did you add it to browser again?! Why don't you allow to remove it anymore?!

After I upgraded to v137 and now on v138 I do not have the new search enhancements made to the address bar. Only a new profile will get me the enhancements. I'd rather not have to create a new profile and add all my changes and add-ons all over again. It's a real PITA. Is there any 'trick' I can try to get the new enhancements?

A few months ago, Firefox was handing off 'search' from the Google search bar (in the middle of the page) to the address bar. In March this was fixed with updated version 148.1 (I believe). When I logged in this morning - Firefox said there was some kind of error and made me reinstall it. My search reverted back to handing off to the address bar - AGAIN! In settings I located, under 'Search' the box that allowed this hand-off and I unchecked it and restarted Firefox and STILL my search is being moved from the Google search bar in the middle of the page to the address bar. I mean, WTH?!?!?!? Why is everything always a problem? Why is nothing working correctly? Why does Firefox make these indiscriminate changes? I cannot work like this. Please, please, please, someone help me.

I wanted to set keywords for search engines (in order to quickly change them for a single query). This cannot be done for search engines by default (why?), so I had to delete them and create a new one with the same link and my own keywords. But now I can't give them the same name back, firefox says that such a search engine already exists. In general, it doesn't matter to me which letter is there. The main purpose of my appeal is to draw attention to the fact that search engines cannot be edited by default, because it is quite inconvenient. I actively use keywords to search from the address bar, mainly g for google, gs for google scholar and w for wikipedia. Until a recent update (until last week, I think), pressing ctrl + L to go to the address bar would select all the text in the address bar, including the keyword, such that if I had made a google search by typing g and some query, I could immediately do a wikipedia search by typing w and some query.

Now, with an updated firefox (141.0.3, on xubuntu 24.04), the search engine from the previous search remains when I press ctrl + L, so I have to type backspace(s) to remove the search engine keyword, before typing a new keyword.

Is it possible to get the old behaviour back?

If I type a URL incorrectly I https://www.startpage.com/do/dsearch?q=doh&cat=web&language=english displays. How can I eliminate this and just get notification that the address cannot be found?

I have Brave set as default search engine. I type in the address bar, hit enter, and always get a Brave screen with "404 Nothing matches the given URI". I downloaded the Brave browser and the problem goes away. But I prefer Firefox as my browser, so I'm hoping there is an easy fix to this.

It is very annoying that you suddenly change the way most users got used to searching in Firefox. I am not the only one who complains about this particular and sudden change, after updating Firefox. Please reinstate the central search bar of Firefox asap. It makes one wonder what else you might think of changing with the next Firefox update! At least give the users of Firefox a previous notice of what changes come with every update. I am thinking very seriously of dropping Firefox and use Brave, if the problem is not solved asap. One of your staff mentioned that this problem would have been solved by 10th March. Till this very moment nothing has happened!! This is not a thread but a serious complaint. I have been using Firefox for a long long time. I would like to be able to use it provided I can use it the way I am used it.
