I have FF 50.1.0,and for some time,I have had problems making payments using Paypal. Everything goes fine until I click to submit payment on the Paypal site, and the page freezes. This just happened today when I tried to make a donation to a local charity. I then made the donation in my Aviator browser with no issues. This has been an ongoing issue with FF for several versions.

I frequently try to save pages as PDFs. When I print the page directly to a printer, no problem. When I save the PDF, it's usually munged and not a valid PDF file (very small or 0 bytes). Example URL: https://www.nytimes.com/2019/07/01/science/bacteria-microbes-electricity.html

Makes an empty PDF while when I do Print and then Save as PDF. I'm on Apple OS 10.13, using Firefox 67.0.4. This problem has been with us for a while (> 1 year I believe) and happens on all my machines.

When using built in search (google default) -- browser stops responding. Shows Firefox new tab background when loading the search. Issue resolves on Firefox close and re-open. Paste and go, creating new tabs also fail with same 'new tab background' displayed. Issue is intermittent but appears often, at least 4-5 times a day.

Tested same sample search with google chrome in same time period, no issue.

Issue appeared around the V99 update. Fix would be greatly appreciated - exiting and re-opening browser, dropping all tabs to reload is a serious usability issue.

The browser takes extremely long time to start-up. Task manager shows that it's trying to pull some 200mbs of data at the rate of 0.5mb\s or less. RAM is fine. HDD is old, but recently defragmented and, outside of <this> particular issue - it's not a problem. System is dusty, but system is system. For some reason virtually any other program launches more or less just fine. A particularly heavy game can pull gigabytes of data in about the same time that Firefox is bottlenecked to kilobyte speed.

It's not a conflict of start-ups, I have only the driver necessities in there. it's not a windows start-up issue, the browser can take as much time even a minute after windows is loaded. It's not a (anti)virus. Because I don't use either. It's not some 15 year old Celeron trying to handle W10, FX8320 should be able to handle opening a web browser. It's not a ton of extensions, and it's not even Firefox accounting, it happened before I registered. From extensions it's only ublock origin and VPN.

My personal three guesses are:

-More than 3-5 tabs on average, but, last I checked, the tabs aren't loaded upon start-up. And power users have sessions of dozens of tabs. -100-200 bookmarks. Again, not sure how hard is it to read a text data, unless it also has to load some thumbnails or icons or whatever. -Software aging.(Latest stable firefox, updates are on, and it has been running far less than this 4 year old system)

Reinstalling the system isn't a solution. Nor is reinstalling Firefox. Nor is dumping bookmarks, because otherwise why bookmark them. I'd just like to know why is Firefox limited to kilobyte speed of initial page loading. It can't be a damaged HDD cluster, otherwise I'd feel it outside of start-up.

With my limited knowledge of PC - it's usually a random read issue. Because like every memory benchmarks(HDD and RAM) can show hysterical speeds when loading\copying some 50gigs of a single file, if it's a few hundreds of thousands of small files - it becomes random and tanks. But what I don't understand why does Firefox have THAT much clutter? Is it really the bookmarks?

Good Morning to Firefox Friends,

I received the following message after logging in to an online acct. and wanted to review my online bill:

"The address wasn’t understood. Firefox doesn’t know how to open this address, because one of the following protocols (javascript) isn’t associated with any program or is not allowed in this context. You might need to install other software to open this address."

Any thoughts or resolve? Also, I'm using AdBlocker Ultimate which I took via Firefox suggestion/recommendation.

Thank you in advance!

Sincerely,

My Firefox has intermittently (but many times a day) been been slow loading, often simply refusing to load at all. Clicking a link to open in a new tab often opens the tab but the tab says "New Tab" with an oscillating dot on the left. After a few minutes the dot stops and nothing displays. Often clicking something in Google News the new tab says "Opening " and then the Google URL. The page sometimes displays after a couple of minutes but sometimes never does.

I've disabled all my plugins except LastPass, but that doesn't help. My IT Support company hasn't been able to help. I tweeted Firefox and they suggested I DM them. I've done that, even sending a couple of illustrative screen videos. But no oikne has ever responded to my Twitter DM.

Is there any way to talk to a live person and share my screen to get some help?

If not, I'll need to abandon Firefox as my default browser after many, many years. It's become a real productivity-killer.

Hello, recently I am having a problem with updating addons on Firefox (Windows, 106.0.3 (64-bit)) for few days now. When I click "Check for updates" it's stuck on checking for much longer than usual and then says that there are no updates available, but when i go to Browser Console it shows me an error message:

"addons.update-checker WARN HTTP Request failed for an unknown reason"

I have tried:

  1. changing dns
  2. clearing cookies and cache
  3. creating "extensions.update.requireBuiltInCerts" preference with false value
  4. restarting firefox in safe mode
  5. checked HOSTS file
  6. enabling auto addon updates
  7. reinstalling firefox

I am really not sure what could be causing this. BTW i can install addons from https://addons.mozilla.org no problem. Could it be on your end?

I've noticed over time that the History, or Library or whatever Mozilla wants to call the History, does not record all pages that are visited - and now it's getting worse and mixing pages up.

It's just been an annoyance until recently, but it has now caused me and my partner real issues, especially with his work.

Today it happened again but I have the time to actually come and tell someone about it in hopes that it actually gets fixed...

Here is what happened today, as happens all too frequently when I go to use the HISTORY function in Firefox accross multiple devices and installs over the past year or so;

I wanted to find a video I watched on youtube on the morning of the 7th November to show my friend, I know the title of it so I started typing it into the address bar to bring it up in the HISTORY but nothing appeared - here we go again I thought.

I might have thought maybe I misremembered the title if this had not happened multiple times already but I went through the motions anyway.

I know exactly when I watched it, so I opened the HISTORY and - because there is no ability to search for an actual date range for some daft reason - I started scrolling.

I got to the 7th, and there were videos I watched before, and videos I watched after, but not the video I was looking for - but there is a video I watched another day there in it's place.

So I opened youtube, went to my history there, scrolled back to the same videos, and sure enough, the video I am looking for is there and the video that is present in my HISTORY is not.

In the screen clippings attached, You can see that in my Firefox HISTORY and Youtube watch history match except for one thing, the 4 minute long "Contouring 101" video that I was originally looking for is present in my youtube watch history, but not on my Firefox HISTORY.

In it's place is a video titled "Life Changing, Tom Shares the Fight for his Life." - which is a 30 minute video I watched on the 31st of October - according to my youtube history and my memory - but not my Firefox HISTORY.

You can see the gap in my Firefox HISTORY where the "Contouring 101" video should be is just 5 minutes, makes sense it took me 5 mins to watch a 4:17 min video and then choose what to click on next, right?

I used to love the history function on browsers, years and years ago it was so good. Now it seems to just be an unmaintained afterthough with minimal functionality and no thought to accuracy.

is there any way we can go back to a accurate, concise and functional HISTORY? Or do I have to find another browser or third party solution?

Thanks for your time.

Hello.

My internet fluctuates constantly while using the Firefox browser. It uses full capacity for 5 seconds, then uses almost 1 mbps internet for the next 5 seconds, then uses full capacity for 5 seconds and so on. I tried a lot of things but it didn't work. I have 100 Mbps internet and connect with 5GHz WI-FI.

Things I've tried:

-Reset Firefox -Run Firefox in troubleshooting mode -Turn off Anti-Virus and Adguard Ad Blocker -DNS flush -Formatting the computer

I don't have such internet fluctuation problem when using it in Microsoft Edge browser. It works seamlessly.

Apart from this, there is another situation that I encountered once, as long as I do not format the computer on which I installed Firefox, this internet fluctuation occurs constantly.

SUMMARY : I would like to disable all animations/twinkles/flickers/waves that indicate some elements inside a Web page are missing and are being loaded. I think all these "animations" make my computer lag.

Hello,

I would say that since Firefox 89, my browser has begun lagging like hell when it loaded some rich Web pages. And I have the impression it is worse with Firefox 107. When I'm saying Firefox lags, I mean it uses heavily my CPU (over 50%), and Firefox is almost unresponsive (for complex Web pages. For Wikipedia or Amazon, I don't have any trouble for example). I have to wait for Firefox to finish to load the full Web page and to display all elements before the usage of my CPU gets back to 1%. And it can take several minutes for some sites/pages.

The problem doesn't come from my connection. And the trouble doesn't come from sites I'm visiting because once all elements are loaded Firefox is responsive.

More precisely, for some sites, when I start loading the page, Firefox replaces missing (i.e not yet displayed/loaded) elements of the page with a rectangle of the same size of the element and each one of these rectangles are slightly flickering to inform me that AT THIS PLACE there is an element of the same size that is going to be displayed. When I'm saying "flickering" I could say it looks like a rectangle with a gradient of gray that is "waving" slowly. Sometimes it's a very light gray, sometimes a dark gray. It depends of the sites.

And all these kind of "animations" are killing my computer. And I would like to totally disable these animations/twinkles/flickers/waves. For example, would it be possible to replace the color gradient animation with a static pink color ?

I have a 10 years old laptop with iGPU (an Intel i5-2410M exactly) without discrete GPU. That doesn't help. I know. For me the trouble comes from there. But currently I can't afford buying a new laptop. I think all my drivers are up to date as my Ubuntu 20.04 is up to date.

WHAT I'VE TRIED WITHOUT SUCCESS 1. I removed ‘.mozilla’ folder in my profile (i.e the folder that contains all addons and customizations) 2. Firefox in Safe Mode 3. I disabled hardware acceleration 4. I've tried Firefox uses too much memory or CPU resources

I really would appreciate your help because now, surfing on some sites becomes a big pain and I'm becoming mad (LOL).

Thank you in advance :)
