Hi all.

Trying to be safer on the web I use the Https- Only Mode all windows, though some trusted web sites I will allow to be exempted.

One is the Australian weather bureau website which recently stopped being a Https site. (www.bom.gov.au)

I have entered the following addresses into exemptions *Image 1 attached

http://bom.gov.au http://www.bom.gov.au https://bom.gov.au https://www.bom.gov.au

However on opening a new tab in a private window ... and type "bom.gov.au" *image 2 attached.

I'm taken to an error page (http://www.bom.gov.au/akamai/https-redirect.html) saying that the web site no longer is Https. (I tried entering that full address in exemptions but only shortens it back to bom.gov.au)

Interesting the tab still shows the little padlock that indicates the tab is still requesting Https Only Mode?

If I turn that to Off, I proceed to the site and then if I look into the Exemptions the following has been added to my list *image 3 attached.

http://www.bom.gov.au^privateBrowsingid=1 set to "Off Temporary"

(I tried deleting that full address line and re-entering it to set it to "Turn Off" but its fails)

Is there a permanent workaround ???

Hello, I switched to Firefox from Chrome, however, the browser is missing one of the most important features I use almost all the time - swipe left to go back and swipe right to go forwards. I checked about:config and browser.gesture.swipe.left is set to Browser:BackOrBackDuplicate but it does not work. All answers on Mozilla Support and elsewhere are outdated or do not answer the question at all. Please fix this, it is the reason why I switched back to Chrome twice before. Any help is appreciated.

31-August 2021 . Hi all, recently the Australian government , “Bureau of Meteorology” weather and radar – website has stopped working under HTTPS and FireFox – it does work under Microsoft Edge though (Yuk). . Unfortunately even if under the FireFox internal settings - you disable the need for a HTTPS connection – the website still kicks you out anyway – and any direct call to the site (http://www.bom.gov.au) – will just kick you to an endless loop of no achievement – by basically constantly telling you “you cannot use HTTPS” and the HTTP link provided just loops you back to the same place. . For now – the only solution I have found is to leave “HTTPS” on – and create an exception for every single page (very zzzzz). . So for me , I am only excepting and viewing the local weather radar page and getting all other info from other sources. . Machine specs - Win10 Pro , Firefox Version 91.0.2 (64-bit) . I have also (via Edge) – reported this to the “BOM” in Australia, . I hope this helps someone , as I cannot be the only person in Australia trying to access this site – but having to sign up - to report the problem here, I did find more than a bit off putting.

There has been a legitimate issue with the bookmarks since the 92.0 update. This applies only to Windows 7 users. The list is very lazy and will actually freeze up. It takes forever to highlight the bookmark you want and the favicons are delayed in populating. Refreshing Firefox doesn't work. Renaming favicons.sqlite and places.sqlite, and those with the -shm and -wal extensions, if existing, doesn't work either. I don't need help from contributors. The following message is to the developers &/or whoever bastardized Firefox since the 92.0 update...

As I stated, this is a Windows 7 issue. The developers should fix this problem for us Windows 7 users. It was them who caused this issue since the 92.0 update. Everything worked perfect until then. Here’s a bright idea for the developers. How about getting this matter fixed, so that us Windows 7 users can have the same functionality as everyone else. Stop screwing around with a million and one updates every year. You people are doing more harm than good. The people running Chrome are a hell of a lot more intelligent. No issues whatsoever with Windows 7! Try that on for size.

As soon as the latest version arrived (which of course it did without my permission, as usual,) I will click on something which always used to open a new tab but now opens a new window. I have tried to screenshot my settings page which clearly is checked in the box that says open new tab, NOT new window, but my mouse does not show up a screenshot choice like it usually does. I am a computer novice with a brain disability so any explanation from you will have to be ridiculously simple. thanks so much

Firefox now opens a new window, rather than a new tab when I click on a bookmark or the +, or when I start a new download, regardless of Tabs settings in the Options General page. This is different from original behavior, and I have no idea what happened. How do I change back to Tabs rather than window?

I'm currently using Firefox 78.15.0esr 64-bit and there's supposed to be an update to 90-something, but I don't want to upgrade because the reason why I downgraded to this version was a major problem I had with the latest Firefox--that problem being that it would go in and out of Full Screen mode by itself regardless of whether I was watching a Youtube video or not, even if I never pressed F11. It would just jump in and out of fullscreen on its own, sometimes just showing a black screen and forcing me to restart the computer entirely because when it holds on the black screen, my monitor would just turn off.

So, is there a way to opt out of this update if the upgraded ESR is just going to do the same thing as regular Firefox?

My system is LOADED with memory - - - - 64 GB in fact. Am also running multi-gpu and wanting to run with all 5 of my monitors but nouveau isn't up to running the 4k monitor yet! I use a large number of virtual desktops as well. As a result I get grumpy when programs don't allow me to work using my particular system. I will admit that I can get to over 25 pages open - - - I start a page for every topic I'm looking at. That's a page for every interest or every function (online tools/activities). There also tends to get to be a lot of tabs. I work had at keeping to under 40 to 50 tabs per age but there are usually a few pages where the number of tabs goes nuts. Because nouveau really doesn't like functioning with my setup (proprietary code is far worse!!! nvidia hates multi-gpu now although they didn't when I set up the system!) so system restarts are forced upon me far more often that I would like. Because of the forced system restarts I get to task firefox-esr in setting up the way it was before the system went down.

Are there hard limits that force Firefox to not renew pages as they were (so more than xx number of pages)? Are there hard limits that force Firefox to not renew 'a' page (I've had this happen where one page doesn't renew but all the rest do)? If there are no 'hard' limits (programmed in per se) are there amounts of pages or tabs or perhaps tabs/page or something else from this stew that greater than xx tabs or yy pages or even a small number of pages having more than xy tabs where such activity results in firefox not restarting as it is listed to do so (restart the pages and tabs present upon shutdown) is considered 'usual'? I am trying to find parameters where I'm not faced with what I have right now. There were about 30 odd different pages and from 15 to who knows how many tabs per page. Some tabs were held as I was working on business deals. Re-establising this amount of stuff is a royal pita. If I know that any behavior over a level described as 'x' is dangerous then I can work hard to stay under those levels.

Please advise
