I opened a profile that I had just used recently to a blank tab bar. I closed it and the sessionstore-backup folder did not have a recent backup, The most recent about a week old.

Just for testing, I tried to restore with one of the upgrade.jsonlz4 file, about 2 weeks old, but it also had no session. I then restored one that was 2 months old. That one had a session

Now, Firefox no longer generates the upgrade.jsonlz4 files

I opened Firefox (V 145.0.2) on my Windows 11 laptop today and noticed that the starting window was the only one open, while I have had at least five windows open for quite some time. The "History|Recently closed windows" option is greyed out. I have closed and restarted Firefox dozens of times and my windows always came back until today. Is that window/tab history stored somewhere where I could recover it?

Thinking about backups of the browser state, I looked for my profile folder and discovered that it is empty - \Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\mozilla is empty except for a file named vpn.moz. I then discovered that my profile seems instead to be stored under \Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Packages\Mozilla.Firefox_n80bbvh6b1yt2\LocalCache\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles with the folder name e5di8bjy.default-release I now learned that this location is standard for installation via the Microsoft store - the so-called MSIX version. But it is wrong that the "About"profiles" page shows that my profile is in the AppData\Roaming, not the Packages, location. When I try to open that profile folder, I get a message telling me that it is not available on this computer. It seems like the profile info should be aware of the actual location?

The last time Firefox updated I lost all my bookmarks. Tried using the restore tool and it didn't work. Tried restoring from my USB drive, didn't work either. Can you PLEASE help??

Since more than a month, when firefox was updated, all my bookmarks seem to be gone,which includes a lot of valuable research made over the past few years.

I have tried all suggestions that google give me to restore my bookmarks, but as far as I understand, there are no newer ones since 2019 (nor older ones than 2018) on my computer? That's what I find in a folder called 'bookmarkbackups' with json-files. Separately I also searched for 'json' and '.jsonlz4' and found nothing after 2019. Also I searched for .html, but nothing seemed to contain bookmark directly.

When I go to manage bookmarks > 'import/export' icon in the upper bar, it suggests two options, for 'nov 13 2025', or today's date), of which none provide me with any bookmarks.

Can I somehow still recover my research?

Do I really need to backup manually?

Or need I start saving all URLs in a word-document for my new research project?...

Firefox seems to update regularly, I currently have version 145.01. (I work on a Mac 2021, with Ventura 13.7.8)

I highly appreciate any advice on this matter.

I went away for a week, and during that time my iMac (apple desktop) turned off. When I rebooted it last night, Firefox loaded at the start as it has for years, but ALL of my bookmarks and activity history was gone. I've been collecting those bookmarks for nineteen years, and while there's a lot of useless stuff I've collected over the years, some of it is very important.

Please help.

All my bookmarks and history were erased when Focus was (automatically) installed. Same with passwords generated by Firefox. How do I get all this back? It should be in my original profile, but that seems to be gone, too.

After viewing a livestream on Mozilla browser my screen locked up and I had to restart/reboot. When it reloaded all my settings and presets on my homescreen were gone or changed? How can I restore my mozilla settings and profile to an earlier time to reset to my original settings?

I recently got kicked off wifi right as I was opening Firefox and it deleted the website data of ALL my tabs. I had loads of design references in this window. How do I recover? Screenshot attached. All that blank space is open tabs with no web adress at all. clicking on it converts it to a 'new tab'. Am I screwed?

I was using my computer normally until I noticed one of my applications had an error. I could not close the error message the normal way, so I decided it would be a good idea to hit the "end task" on the error message, which caused a blue screen error. "No worries," I thought, "I'll be able to get back to where I was right after my computer restarts." Oh, how wrong I was. Upon logging in to my computer, Firefox opened to... the screen I got when i first installed it? As it turns out, the Mozilla folder in my AppData folder was completely erased, along with all its contents. Is there a way to get my data back?

"The bookmarks and history system will not be functional" error message has suddenly appeared in just the past couple of days on my new DELL Inspiron 15 3535 with Windows 11. I have followed the first few items on the Mozilla Support page that comes up as soon as the initial Firefox opening page appears and that has not corrected the problem.

I have tried to follow the next few steps but can't really find what it calls for because I don't understand what it's talking about. I am not of the tech generation and do not speak the tech language. Most of the terms in there I do not know what or where they are on the laptop.

Is there anybody who could help me saw through the terminology and give me some ideas on how to simply solve my problem? All I really want to do is get to where my bookmarks are hidden and put them back in place where I can use them again.

I was prompted to do an update today and it erased all my bookmarks. I have a saved bookmark file that is a JSON file type but it won't let me import that b/c it's not HTML. I have a lot of saved bookmarks for work and really need to get them back.
