Windows 10 had an update, I reverted the update, and now for Amazon specifically, and on Firefox only, I cannot play prime videos. I get error 7235 which is digital rights error. Basically it cannot see the add-on "Widevine Content Decryption Module". I've tried restarting PC several times, 4 different version of Firefox from 63-68 (currently on version 63). Tried uninstalling completely and reinstalling Firefox. I prompted Widevine to prompt when used and when I played a Amazon video, it DID prompt me, but still gave me the error.

Tried contacting amazon support but they just gave me the basic troubleshooting and had no luck. Any ideas are appreciated!

After a new install on a new windows 10 computer I get the following error when I open Firefox A breakpoint has been reached (0x80000003) in the application at location 0x00007FF95BB874BB

Version 68.0.2

I suspect it has to do with my work environment. There is corporate management software, and I have to "run elevated" to do new installs or updates. Firefox is the only app that has had an issue with whatever they are doing. Chrome installs fine.

The IT team won't help since they say "we support Internet explorer"

In addition, I cannot update the version I have on my windows 7 and 10 machines that was installed before they added their monitoring software,

Again, this is a problem with compatibility with our corporate overlords environment that is messing up firefox. I'm hoping there are settings or logging options that will get to the cause.

I'm typing this on an old firefox (63.0.1) on a windows 7 machine.

Please don't tell me to reinstall, update video drivers, etc. Been through all that. We are talking a new installation on a new windows 10.

Thanks

I opened up around 50 tabs in a single firefox Private Window on Linux and all was good and fast, I then opened another URL in a new tab, which asked me to Stop or Wait for unresponsive script running, where I chose to Stop. Then it started behaving abnormally; I was only able to do the following:

1 scroll on the tab using either middle mouse button or [Up] [Down] key on keyboard jfie 2 right click the tab content to open up right-click menu, 3 hover over the icons and change their background color like Homepage, Refresh, Page Actions, Show sidebars, as well as display their lables;

but I was not able to $ trigger the proper response from above buttons, or $ switch to another tab $ close or create any tab

I noticed in journalctl logs around the time frame this happend, which showed the following:

<date> <hour>:<minute>:30 <hostname> dbus-daemon[744]: [session uid=1000 pid=744] Activating service name='org.gnome.gedit' requested by ':1.7' (uid=1000 pid=1249 comm="firefox ")

NOTE that I did not open any gedit intentionally during that time window. So far, I have not closed the unresponsive window, in hope that I would be able to restore those tabs. But I am not sure where to start. The $HOME/.mozilla/firefox director is about 100MB.

Could anyone help? I am willing to provide any more information and I am willing to invest my time on this.

Since a release of Firefox this year that caused a problem with Add-ons working, I have not been able to get Add-ons to work properly with the most recent versions of Firefox. There ar two problem areas. 1. Can't download Plug-ins. 2. When right clicking on plugin on the tool bar, the dropdown settings window does not stay open.

My solution has been to use version 63.0.3 and run the "Add-on fix for Firefox versions 61-65." This works fine, but I'm not able to load newer versions and get them to work.
I have, multiple times:

1. Uninstalled all Firefox versions x64 and x32 bit, uninstalled "Mozilla Maintenance Service" and deleted all "Mozilla Firefox" named folders. 2. Deleted all [username]Appdata/ Local, Local low, and Roaming "Mozilla" folders as well as the "ProgramData/Mozilla folder. 3. Cleaned out the "Windows/Prefetch folder. 4. Added a new user to see if that account was affected as well. It was!

None of this has worked, and I have wondered if some certificate is hanging around that should be removed?

Thanks, Jim

I do not use bookmarks or the sidebar, only the toolbar itself.

I have 50ish bookmarks directly on the toolbar, usually as an icon by itself (to save space for other bookmarks to be added to the toolbar). I have 20ish folders containing even more bookmarks (probably 150 more within folders at minimum). See attached image, also attached in first reply, for reference.

I'm very attached to the toolbar because I have very carefully and specifically customised this toolbar the way it is for super-efficient browsing.

Is there a way to save the toolbar as it currently is and then import the toolbar so that I have the exact same layout as shown in the image? Re-adding the bookmarks individually back to the toolbar is not an option - it would be heavy work and frustrating.

If this doesn't already exist, please make such a function, Firefox devs:)

Any pointers are appreciated!

Problems started since Firefox update broke Firefox Plugins. Even complete removal of Firefox and updating to Firefox 67.0.4 did not fix the problem. (see below).

UPDATE FIXED:

Installing plugin fix @ <https://discourse.mozilla.org/t/fixed-certificate-issue-causing-add-ons-to-be-disabled-or-fail-to-install/39047> fixed the problem even though installing latest version of Firefox did not.

I spent literally 20 hours on this problem and was very close to using Chrome as my default browser (Ugg).

Firefox 67.0.4 (64-bit) Windows 10

When I left-click on the toolbar icon of extensions that use a drop down window, I briefly see the settings in that window and then window becomes an empty frame that stays until I click outside the frame. Extensions that open their own tab are fine.

Disabling all plugins an then enabling one at a time does not help. Behavior is the same with a different user.

This problem started in the past week. Somewhere in that time frame I did install a 32 bit version of Firefox.

I have 'Refreshed Firefox' Reinstalled Java Runtime. I have uninstalled Firefox, x64 & x32, deleted folders under "Program files" and "Program Files (x86)", removed Mozilla directories under AppData: Local, LocalLow, and Roaming, and reinstalled Firefox x64.....Still a problem

I would guess that I haven't cleared every Firefox setting out.

Any suggestions??

Thanks, Jim

About a week ago, Firefox suddenly stopped prompting for passwords and no long autofills passwords. I tried rolling back to v. 63, but it still won't work. If I go into options and check "ask to save logins and passwords," it works as long as Firefox is open. But as soon as I close Firefox, the option is no longer checked.

All my passwords as still there in Firefox, but they will no longer autofill. This literally started about a week ago and I have made NO changes to my computer. I do use Roboform, but I have used it alongside Firefox for many years with no issues. I did log out of Roboform, but Firefox passwords still did not work.

I build and repair computers for others, so do have a clue here. Any suggestions?

All was fine until I updated my firefox beyond v63. New tabs would randomly show dead blank pages and refuse to load anything. New tabs work about half the time, half the time unresponsive. Half the time opening firefox fresh wont respond unless I have done a system restart just before- then it always works every time. Its a real pain to copy the address from an unresponsive tab to paste into a working tab to view the page! When I reverted back to v63- everything worked fine again- except (of course) the Addon signing bug prevents my addons from working. I was happy to stay on v63 until the Addon signing bug happened- pages always loaded and addons had worked. So I have a dilemma- choose either: no addons working anymore in v63 but all tabs loading properly, or addons working normally in v67 but new tabs and the main program only working about half the time. Why cant I have both- working tabs and working addons. I have tried a firefox v67 reset to default, and then re-customised it & reloaded my addons but no fix. What is wrong? What has Mozilla done to cause the formerly working v63 to fail half the time somewhere between v63 and v67? How do I fix it?

Hi.

I was looking how to restore the old ctrl+tab behavior and found https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1241201#answer-1174594 . This answered my first half of the question.

However, I do find the new ctrl+tab behavior useful, however not as a replacement of the old behavior, but as an additional feature.

Is there any way I can have ctrl+tab/ctrl+shift+tab behave in the old way, while binding a custom keybinding to the new recently used order tab behavior? (say, e.g. binding it to win+tab)

I've tried quite a few times to download the latest version of Firefox. It will download and install but as soon as I close the window and later open it it asks to install the latest version and none of my passwords are saved (which they always have been with previous updates). I suspect it has something to do with Microsoft Word which I recently installed.

Hello.

When I type in the address bar, according to the parameters I choose, I get suggestions from:

- my bookmarks

- my browsing history.

I want to keep both these options that are helpful.

But I want to get rid from some history items. The following procedure is supposed to perform that aim:

In the pop-up list the user focuses the unwanted item and press the Delete key. (With some browsers you need to use a combination: Del+Shift or Del+Ctrl)

It was functioning on FF but it doesn't work any more: the item disappears from the list but comes back immediately after.

Nor the suppression of related cookies works.

How to perform now this operation (getting rid from unwanted history items in the address bar) ?

I saw equivalent questions but only with inappropriate answers.

I say again: I want to keep my browsing history feeding the suggestions, and only delete selected items.

Thank you very much to contributors who can to answer the question and provide helpful solutions.

Regards.

Hi,

I have noticed for the past few days that my FF 63.0.3 version (current) removes the McAfee WebAdvisor add-on, which gets installed with the licensed McAfee Security s/w on my Windows 10 PC. I had to install it again twice in the past week to ensure I remain protected by said add-on while browsing / accessing banking sites etc. Has anybody else faced this issue and if so what is the reason ?

This issue occurs only in FF and not in other browsers I use, such as Edge, IE, or Chrome, hence the query.

Thanks.
