I've been searching for three days now for a solution that will work to restore my profile from a crashed windows-7 machine to my new windows-11. Nothing listed in any forum or help desk works as described. I used to be able to just rename the folder to the exact file name on the new PC, but windows 11 won't let me do anything. It always needs admin permissions and even after I activated the admin account and assigned a password, I still cannot copy to the folder or rename the folder. Every attempt to do this on W-11 fails. It shouldn't be that hard and I'm tired of wasting days playing with this. I have important bookmarks, passwords etc. I want restored, and I need help. Nobody wants to pick up a phone anymore to assist!

I have never used "sync" because I have multiple PCs and each used for different applications and yes some go back to W-7, the operating system that actually worked well. Each PC has Firefox and a distinct bookmark file.

I went to "about:profiles" and created a new profile thinking I could copy to the new folder, but when i switched profiles I couldn't get back to the original default! HELP!

This problem has been covered in this forum before. However, the various solutions have not worked for me because it seems my backup previous.jsonlz4 was corrupted. I did exit Firefox normally, but I am not sure because I have been using multiple different browsers in recent months.

This is what happened this morning: my Firefox on Mac OSX was closed normally, and I rebooted the MacBook. Afterwards, I could not restore old tabs because "Recently Closed Tabs" and "Recently Closed Windows" are greyed out.

I tried copying recovery.jsonlz4 from the last folder and putting it into the main folder as sessionstore.jsonlz4, then reopening Firefox. Still have no restored tabs. Here was the surprise, which I do not know how to interpret.

I just checked some files and found this error message in sessionrestore-logs folder:

Firefox updated automatically overnight, all bookmarks vanished. Toolbar bookmarks, gone. History information disappeared two weeks ago. Library box is now gone, too! Windows 11. Firefox version 147.0.3 64-bit

My primary firefox/google profile vanished along with all bookmarks. Recovery history only shows bookmark from secondary account that is under a different email.

How to I restore the bookmarks (years worth!) from my primary profile?

The last automatic browser update (147.0.3 (aarch64)) has wiped off all changes I made to bookmarks and passwords from the past year.

How can I go back to a previous version and recover my details?

This browser version is terrible and looks exactly like Microsoft Edge which is not intuitive at all. I don't want to set up multiple personas, Its just me and the one computer?

I just updated to the latest version of Mozilla FireFox and my bookmarks dissappeard.

All are gone, I wonder how I can get them back?

When I opened Firefox today, it asked me which profile I'd like to use. I named one Katy and then continued. Now, I can't see any of my bookmarks, none of my passwords are saved, none of my sites recognized. I've been using Firefox for years. Everything I have is saved there. I just want my old stuff back. I'm signed in on my account, but can't see another profile that I can choose. My phone still has all the passwords and bookmarks from before but I I can't see what profile I'm signed in under. Can anyone help?

This has happened several times in the last 4 months or so, it had never happened prior to that and I've used Firefox for years. It now occurs when I open Firefox after my computer has either been shutdown, or the computer does a restart. I am signed in to my Mozilla account.

i got an update message and restarted firefox. now all my saved bookmarks and passwords for accounts has disappearred. how do i get them back? under settings, it doesn't give me option to import from previous firefox

Over the past few months, there would be occasions in which my history and bookmarks get deleted without me cleaning my browser. More recently, my tabs themselves would get deleted and today, only one of my tabs loaded upon launching my previous session. When I closed and reopened the browser, it only registered the one tab that loaded from my previous session. Is there some incompatibility with my browser and something else that might cause this?

so i had a bunch of bookmarks saved, and when i logged in today they are gone, replaced with a message For quick access, place your bookmarks here on the bookmarks toolbar. manage bookmarks (link)

so when I use the link I cant restore bookmarks, cant seem to save new bookmarks, and the FAQ section isnt helping, some of the stps they talk about are greyed out in my version, so I cant click on them etc.

Is this a windows 10 issue? Am I the only one having this problem?
