I downloaded Scribus, an open source free page layout design application from https://www.scribus.net/

link text

I can't open this application because I get a message that says: "'Scribus.app' can’t be opened because it is from an unidentified developer. Your security preferences allow installation of only apps from the Mac App Store and identified developers.

I searched the Mac App Store and it does not have Scribus. I can't afford to subscribe to Adobe Creative Cloud and I need to be able to create page layout designs, which Scribus can do.

How can I verify that https://www.scribus.net/ is a secure application site? How can I open the application if it is a secure link?

Thanks, Shelley

That's something Chrome does for ages. If I'm logged in to a local account on Windows and I want to reveal any of the passwords Chrome is storing, it will ask me for my credentials every time I try to see one of these passwords.

Firefox just shows them right away, exposing dozens of passwords to whoever might be using the computer.

I'm attaching 2 images, one from the password manager in Firefox, another from Chrome. you'll see that in chrome I'm asked for my windows credentials when trying to see passwords

I'm a brand-new Firefox user, just trying to import or recreate my login data from Chrome. Every time I've clicked "Import" from Lockwise and checked the appropriate boxes, I get a dialog box telling me that the import was successful... but Lockwise still tells me "No logins found." I do know that importation of some kind is happening because my bookmarks imported just fine. Prompts to save my logins still appear, but passwords do not get saved, as evidenced by the "No logins found" message where a list of my saved logins should be. When I attempt to create a login manually, I get a dialog box like the one used to create a Primary Password, except it looks more like a system dialog box, something from Windows rather than from Firefox (image 1.1). I've tried entering all the passwords I can think of into this dialog box--my OS password, my Firefox password, the password I'm trying to save, the password I would choose for my Primary Password if I had one--only for another box to pop up stating "Unable to change password" (image 1.2). Upon closing this box, a red banner appears stating that there was an error while trying to save the password.

One of the times I was trying to use Lockwise, a bar appeared at the top of the screen stating that I needed to use my Primary Password--which I didn't have and still don't--to access my logins. I can't remember what I did because I've tried several things, but if I figure out how to recreate that I'll update this post. I attempted to create a Primary Password from my Options menu by checking the box next to "Use a Primary Password." Even though it clearly recognizes that I don't have a Primary Password set, I still get an "Unable to change primary password" notice (image 2). I've tried resetting it, but to no avail. I have also followed the advice of all the relevant articles I could find (e.g., the help article on what to do if your passwords aren't saving), but nothing so far has fixed the issue.

Lastly--it seems like I'm getting the system-dialog-looking box about every hour or so, always twice in a row: I'll click "cancel," and then it will show up again. I also can't seem to log out of my Firefox account, as that same dialog box appears and prevents me from doing so.

What is going on here? Is there anything I can do to fix it?

I have been using Firefox for years now, but since an update a couple of months back, when I deploy a new internal site I receive an error stating that the "Secure Connection Failed" because of "Error code: SEC_ERROR_REUSED_ISSUER_AND_SERIAL". There is a official workaround explaining how to bypass this issue, however it doesn't work. I have tested the same sites with Chrome, Edge, IE and it always works why is Firefox suddenly not working? Below are images of my local lab replicating the issue.

I use CCleaner on a regular basis and have been for over a decade and a half now. With CCleaner, I have the ability to disable unwanted browser extensions. Typically, this works just fine but lately, I've been running into an issue where CCleaner shows several Firefox extensions that do not show up in the browser's options menu: Bing, Amazon, Google, Wikipedia and DuckDuckGo. I disable these in CCleaner like I usually do yet they re-appear in CCleaner as extensions when I open a new browser window after disabling them. Are these really some sort of hidden extensions in Firefox? And if so, how the heck do I get rid of them permanently? I don't want any of these extensions. Thanks in advance.

Hi, I have been unable to access any google services (e.g. youtube, google) due to the following error message: Someone could be trying to impersonate the site and you should not continue.

Web sites prove their identity via certificates. Firefox does not trust www.youtube.com because its certificate issuer is unknown, the certificate is self-signed, or the server is not sending the correct intermediate certificates.

Error code: SEC_ERROR_UNKNOWN_ISSUER

View Certificate

Could you please advise how to resolve this? I reinstalled firefox and that did not help. Certificates are installed and have expiry date of 2031. Other browsers are not affected.

Thank you.

I stopped update to the new fancy Firefox, gonna stay with the 88.0.1 release (as I did with Thunderbird 68). Would be nice to have (just!) security update to previous versions instead of forced update to new clean features.

Those who are interested how to stop upgrade: put into your registry:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Mozilla\Firefox] "DisableAppUpdate"=dword:00000001

How do I separate search from address? I do *NOT* want Google or any other search engine to have every web address (URL) that I enter. When I search, that's one thing. Directly entering a URL is completely different. Firefox automatically updated to the latest: 89.0 (64-bit). Now the Firefox Home page redirects everything I enter in the search box to the address bar! This is a problem! This is one reason I don't use Chrome. How do I configure Firefox to stop doing this?
