The list of search engines on Firefox installed under Windows 7 (on 2 different systems) does not match the list of defaults shown in the Firefox help, specifically it does not include Yahoo but instead includes yahoo.co.uk. When I look at the list of available search engines I cannot find either Yahoo itself (US) or Yahoo!7 (Australia) so I can select one of them. I really want to use Yahoo!7 (Australia) not yahoo.co.uk. By the way, the same release of Firefox (10.0.2) installed under Windows XP *does* include Yahoo, and if I select it as my search engine, the searches are performed not on Yahoo itself (that is, US) but on Yahoo!7 (that is, Australia)

Why are animated GIFs in Firefox 11 slow? I downgraded to Firefox 10 and the animated GIFs suddenly play fine again, so I am positive that the update messed up the playback delay of animated GIFs somewhere.

Self-explanatory. I am positive that the GIF I am viewing is faster than what it's supposed to be. I viewed the same animated GIF in another browser and it plays fine. It just plays slower in Firefox 11. I downgraded to Firefox 10 and the animated GIFs were fine again. I upgraded back to 11 and yet again the animated GIFs slowed down. This happens for all of my animated GIFs.

I like viewing my animated GIFs, and since I don't have any problems yet with Firefox 10, I'll be sticking with it for a while...

Yahoo toolbar infected my browser and I just want to get rid of it. It doesn't have an uninstall option under toolbar settings, it doesn't appear under my ad/remove program lists on the computer, it doesn't appear listed under my extensions or plugins for the browser, and all the previous help questions I looked at could not solve this. I'm running a new laptop that's 2 days old running Windows 7. All I want is a clean browser.

I have a Windows 7 x64 Enterprise system with Firefox 10.0.02. I'm getting the error

'Stop running this script?

A script on this page is causing your web browser to run slowly. If it continues to run, your computer may become unresponsive'

after I power up my PC, but before I open Firefox.

The error message, of course, does not identify what "this page" is, or tell anything about the script. The error message doesn't even say it's from Firefox (or Internet Explorer, for that matter).

I've done a virus scan, a spyware scan, and an adware scan, but the error keeps popping up.

Everything I've found on the web about this error assumes the problem is with Internet Explorer, but I don't use IE.

Suggestions?

Thanks.

My firefox has been crashing periodically at seemingly random times. It is not restricted to one particular site. Each time it crashes, I attempt to submit a crash report and it never goes through. The browser is up to date, and it still crashes in safe mode so I know it is not being caused by a plug-in or other add-on. Windows is also up to date. I checked for any updates to my graphic drivers and didn't find any. All of my antivirus software and such is fine.

I followed all suggestions: Firefox cannot load websites but other programs can, Error loading web sites a listed still no luck. It works in Internet Explorer. It used to work in all browsers. I can't find where/what changed. The summary: go to website and log in click button to access high res images (which is an ftp site) to website page comes up blank. no errors, no pop ups. It should prompt for login username and password again. I go home and it works, no issues from other people outside the company just inside. We have all winXP SP 3, all updates a few win7s all updates. We even still have win2k pc's (which we don't use anymore but I can access the site on it)

I have the security preferences set to remember passwords, I have the privacy set to remember history. None of that was changed. I believe it was right after updating to 10.0.2 that none of my login information is stored.

Some of the websites will remember the username and password. Some will remember the username, and some will display the username if I double click in the username box, but NONE of them will remember me if I check the remember me box.

I have removed and re-installed firefox, cleared my cache, cleared my history...not sure what else to do. Any help is appreciated.

Firefox crashes when I go to a lot of websites: e.g.: news.google.com, nytimes.com. Other websites are ok (e.g. google.com). It crashes when I'm in safe mode also. It crashes when I'm logged into a different user on the PC. It doesn't submit any crash reports and when I look at "about:crashes" none are listed more recent than a year old. I have checked my computer for Malware/Viruses and there are none reported. I have all recent updates for Windows (XP SP3) and graphics drivers. Disabling hardware acceleration and WebGL doesn't help. I've tried completely removing and reinstalling Firefox and it also doesn't help.

What can I do to help diagnose and resolve my problem?

I have noticed that something is overall WRONG with FF since their last update. Specifically, it suddenly bogs down my computer, both when running as a PC or as a Mac. It causes the system processes to spike and causes enormous lag in the entire system.

Certain sites then cause FireFox to refuse to close once you visit them. In other words, FirFox appears to have closed but is actually still running and using vast system resources in the background. The only way to actually quit FireFox is to force close the program. It has been so bad in fact that I don't have much choice but to start using a different browser. Has anyone else encountered this problem?

It seems to be a cumulative problem - the longer FireFox is allowed to run the more intense the CPU usage spikes and the worse the overall lag becomes. It is even happening as I am on this (the FireFox) site for the length of time it has taken to write all this.

I have a somewhat older laptop running an Nvidia-based GeForece 440 Go 64 graphics card.

Using about:support to analyze FF's performance, it shows hardware acceleration was "0/1. Blocked for your graphics driver version."

What can I do to get this acceleration working? There are no more recent driver versions available. Will this be resolved with older versions of FireFox? (I'm only running 10 on this machine, anyway, as I never did buy into the whole "rapid release" approach)
