I'm having a problem that appears to be linked to syncing. I can clear it with "Refresh Firefox...", but then it will come back in about 2-3 days. It will manifest itself in a few ways:

  • Facebook feed stops or is blank after about 2 or 3 entries.
  • Pandora won't start, it freezes on the initial opening page.
  • Facebook Marketplace won't display large pictures, they are blurred out.
  • If I try to log into my Firefox account, it tells me that cookies and local storage are disabled. When this happens if I delete all cookies or add exceptions, the issue remains the same and I can't login to my account.
  • Some Yahoo news feeds won't display any pictures.

I've investigated it and reviewed many of the messages about pictures being blurred or not showing, but not finding anything about the problem continually repeating. I have used "Refresh Firefox" about 10 times now, and the issue still comes back.

When it does, other things I've tried are:

  • Added in cookie exceptions for each website above.
  • Turned off Enhanced Tracking Protection for each website above.
  • Cleared all cookies manually.
  • In my Firefox account, I have deleted and re-added all my devices. Would it be helpful to completely delete my account? The issues only occur with one device, my PC desktop machine.

Any assistance is graciously requested, but this is becoming awfully perturbing. I'd love to give you screenshots or logs when this happens, but I can't even log into the forum, but let me know what I need to capture for next time! Thanks!

Searched the forums and web, no one seems to have answer that I have found. Firefox 95.02, Windows 10 Pro, 8 GB RAM, Dell Notebook, fiber optic Internet 156 mbps Start by running CCleaner, disable un-needed startups, extensions, ad-ons, ect., then roboot, have clean slate. About 3 months ago, after about 15 minutes Firefox slows down, then quits loading images, then eventually quits loading whole pages. If I was blocking content it would not work for at least 10 minutes. This evening, 21.38 clean boot, start FF, go to Facebook, read notifications, 1 tab open, nothing else running 21.55 images fail to load, still one tab open Researched more and ran about:memory, memory-report.json.gz unable to figure out how to upload Run CCLeaner, I do not save cookies or cache after FF closes, reboot 22.04 start Firefox, 1 tab open nothing else 22.16 images slow loading 22.20 nothing loads, try other websites like NOAA radar, all fine Reminds me I saw at the bottom left "Waiting for static.xx.fbcdn.net" Screen shot of Task Manager attached, FF running 10 times, 154 kb image will not upload Failed to upload, copying this txt and starting over. Images loaded fine after reboot Facebook works fine on Edge, I do not have/use Chrome or Google Facebook is the only page Firefox has issues with.

OS: Windows 10-64 Home or Windows 10-64 Pro Version 20H2 (OS Build 19042.685) with all current updates Firefox: 84.0.2 (64-bit)

For about a week now a few websites are taking a long time to load on my 4 PCs (examples: ebay.com, walmart.com, pch.com). If I click the link on the search page it takes almost 30 sec to load, right click and open in a new tab same time, and open a new tab and type or paste address the same amount of time. Most other website open almost immediately.

The issue does not resolve in safe-mode or if I manually disable add-ons. I'm using the default theme.

All websites load without issue on Chrome and Edge.

Hello, Firefox takes more than 30 seconds to load. Thunderbird is also slow. I've had this problem before at the end of last year. After a while it got better. But now I have to wait again. I scanned windows with various anti-virus and anti-malware programs. I have absolutely nothing. I only use Microsoft anti-virus. I have run many repair options on the net. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox. This long wait to load before I can use the software is really irritating. Internet Explorer starts within 3 to 5 seconds including the display of the first page. Best regards Otto Haldi

Hellow,

Since updating the latest firefox version 91.01 it has considerably slowed down browsing speed to an impossible crawl. The task manager shows the update as permanently on, sucking 100% resources. There´s something not right when it does this, and is becoming a bad habit of constantly refreshing firefox to get sensible operation.

It started by installing a clear cache which helped as firefox also hangs when connecting to the internet as a result it goes off-line at random times. Barely ideal.

Is it worth rolling back to an earlier version that is more stable ? Any other users got debugging suggestions ?

One site that I visit is freezing up. This has only started to happen in the past two days. The size is Adam4Adam.com. I have tried troubleshooting mode. I have cleared my cache and my cookies. The site in the process of loading up freezes. What's more, is that not only that site freezes. All my open tabs in Firefox freezes when I load that site.

Please let me know if you can help.

Many thanks.

I have used FF for years, now V82 on W7 starts out fine, but bogs down to point you can not type. I have tried all the fixes noted here without success. Monitoring both Windows Task Manager and FF Task Manager shows nothing unusual when this happens. Internet speed is 100MBS.

Turning off addons, limiting Tabs, clearing history, updating drivers, minimizing background programs, etc., has little or no effect. FF just bogs down, and usually doesn't recover until restarted.

This appears to be particularly noticeable on ebay, but does happen at random on other sites. Where else can I look for a clue to what the problem is?

I try to keep always open some tabs in Firefox,, probably already too many (it's not unusual to have 25-30 tabs opened, each having it's internet page). I'm using Firefox up-to-date on Windows 10 Home already at version 20H2.

So, quite quickly Task Manager comes to report that Firefox takes 1400-1600 of RAM (out of the laptop's total of 6 GB). At the same time, Firefox's internal Task manager pretends that memory taken by all tabs does not sum up more than cca 650 MB !!! This is concur with about:memory tab if I try that too.

Here's a capture taken with Snip&Sketch having both Firefox's tab with it's internal task manager, + Windows's Task manager over it (attached).

I feel like I'm cheated here, but ... who is most closer lay blame on ? Who is more likely to lie in this case ?0 Firefox or Task Manager ?

I tend to believe it's Firefox, but I'm willing to have other opinions. Are there extra memory taken by Firefox that is not reported in the about:memory tab, or in it's internal task manager ? (I'm onto this, I believe that there is something that is not reported, but so far have not a shred of evidence on this).

This is exactly why on my computer at work (on an OpenSUSE install) I gave up on Firefox and turned to Chrome, because on this one I can trust the internal task manager, and it does not crush my Linux box like Firefox eventually have done with it's crazy memory consumption and/or CPU huge load from time to time. I am still using Firefox on the home Windows 10 laptop because I share it with my wife, and decided she is to use Chrome, and myself Firefox:-)

There's big delays in the words showing up, letters come out in the wrong places, & it doesn't improve even when I clear cache, clear memory, & refresh pages. I don't know what else to do. Should I delete and re-install Firefox, or replace this with the previous version?

Hi, for the past week whenever I open Firefox (FF) it works normally for about two minutes, then slows, then causes my entire mac to slow and freeze. If I don't force quit FF quickly, my mac crashes. Once I force quit FF everything is fine. I've been using Chrome for the past week or so hoping FF would fix itself with an update but no go.

Anyone else having this issues?

I currently have version 72.0.2 and it is so slow.

I suspected an ISP problem although I have fibre optics but I just have to compare FIreFox with another browser to see that FireFox is the problem.

For instance, on the same site, I can call up a different page in around 5 seconds with FireFox whereas the same change of page takes well under 2 seconds with the Avast Browser.

Opening 3 tabs simultaneously in FireFox when I launch it takes YONKS whereas it used to load all 3 pages in a blink.

I already have add ons like "Disable HTML5 Autoplay" installed to speed up things.

What is the solution please?

When Firefox updates, it's an extremely frustrating experience. Enough so that I'm about ready to switch over to Chrome (I already use it for work). Every single time, websites suddenly can't load and all my extensions stop working. It's happening now! I'm writing this from Chrome.

I'm frankly not sure when or why websites start loading again, but it seems to take about a day for things to get back to normal. I've tried closing and reopening Firefox, but that doesn't seem to do anything. It just takes time. I have a 2017 MacBook, OS Catalina 10.15.3.

Is this a known issue? I see all kinds of possible solutions when I try and look for some myself, but oftentimes the OP says they didn't work and then people offer other solutions. I'm wondering why this seems to happen, and if there's a suggestion for how to fix it once and for all—I've never had this problem with Chrome.

This has now happened after the last two Mac updates. I get the TLS handshake forever until it times out. Occasionally something gets through (like the Mozilla help pages!) Unlike others who have posted this issue, the same problem holds in Chrome and Safari. I have tried various fixes, including a new identity on my Mac, with no success. Last time the issue seemed to spontaneously resolve after a couple of hours and never reappeared until Mac updated again. While all this is happening, my email works fine, my husband's macbook pro (just like mine) works fine, and my iPad works fine. I have left this message on the Mac help forum, too, hoping someone will have some idea of what is happening. OS Mojave 10.14.6

Firefox slow to load, 20-30 seconds. Appears is opening more than one instance with a single click. When it does load it sometimes comes up with the last page I had open even tough I closed it out properly. Sometimes get error msg that must close out 2nd Firefox before can start Firefox but saying yes results in the current open window closing. This started yesterday and the latest version of Firefox was automatically installed yesterday? Window 7. Cleared cash. Disabled all add on's etc. No help. Close out Firefox and Task Mngr show no Firefox running. Start Firefox and Task mngr shows four/five Firefox running. This started yesterday and the latest version of Firefox was automatically updated yesterday. Any ideas.

I had tried everything. I have deactivated all FOUR of my plugins and started up Firefox again. I have uninstalled and reinstalled a fresh copy. I installed Firefox on an SSD even and it is still painfully slow. I have the same plugins and such on Chrome and that one opens up immediately. So I have been using Chrome a lot more lately because Firefox is opening slowly these days. Takes 15-20 seconds for Firefox to open every single time. I have deactivated each plugin one by one to see if they were causing the issue and sure enough, all of them were clean. Firefox still opens slowly.

On an unrelated note, I have been using Chrome a lot more lately also because some things on a webpage don't work on Firefox. I can't explain it. Like on the hickory farms website, I click on the Add To Cart button and it looks like it is being pressed, but nothing is added to the cart. This type of thing happens across the internet on many different sites. When I go to Chrome, everything works as it ought to. I have my settings set to Standard in Privacy and Security. I don't know where else I have to check and change things to get those buttons and other links and such to work.
