Since updating to Firefox 70, the tab bar is shown even if there is only one tab (it just shows the + button then). Previously, the bar was hidden if there was only one tab. This previous behavior may depend on some setting, but I don't remember if I changed any setting for that. Have *no* Add-ons installed that affect tab visibility.

How to restore the old behaviour that tab bar is hidden if there is only one tab?

It looks like (at least on macOS 10.15.2) the latest update (72.0.1) introduced either a bug or a change in how pinned tabs are rendered as since today I noticed that my pinned tabs are a lot wider and are showing part of the title (see attached image, the first two tabs are pinned tabs).

Is this something I can change or customize, or is this a bug?

Since I upgraded to FF68esr form fields have a yellow background. I've looked in the group policy, about:config and can't find anything. I found a couple of css suggestions neither of which got rid of the yellow. I just want to have firefox work how it used to instead of all these constant changes that break or degrade the experience.

Is there a way to disable this annoying "feature"?

Also, since upgrading, sites that cached my userid and password no longer show the password and enable me to single click login. I have to select the user name field, press tab, then the password is added and then I can log in. Is there a way to revert that behavior too?

I posted many weeks ago about how slow v68 is to load themes. The CSS that I used in v60 was speedy enough, but in v68 it's really slow, showing a bright blue background for a second or two before loading the theme. Is there a way to fix that in v68. I think someone said themes are going to be phased out too... is that true? Firefox looks really unattractive without something improve the UI.

Hi,

I prefer Firefox to show bookmarks toolbar in fullscreen mode. In the previous version of Firefox, this can be done by creating a CSS. Refer to the link below: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1212156

However, after updating to Firefox 75.0, the CSS method doesn't work anymore. Google searches also returned no result considering the update is recent. That's why I'm writing it here.

Refer to the attachment below as bookmarks toolbar is hidden when hovering to toolbar.

Thank You.

Is there a replacement in Firefox ESR 60.2 for the leagacy add-on Backward/Forward History Dropdown that allowed you to left-click to view recent history

I just upgraded from Firefox ESR 52.9 to ESR 60.2. The upgrade has made my legacy add-on "Backward/Forward History Dropdown" dysfunctional. That add-on displayed a dropdown arrow to the left of the location bar that listed the websites in the same window that I visited in the current browsing session, and enabled me to select a website in the list that I wanted to return to. (That obviously was much easier than using the Back button to return to recently visited websites one by one.) The only ways to do that now appear to be to pull down or right-click on the backward or forward indicators, but since I use an old trackpad it would be much more convenient to tap on a dropdown arrow as I used to do.

After doing a bit of online research I created a chrome folder in my profile and then 3 subfolders named config, css, and image, along with 2 files called userChrome.css and userContent.css. I then followed the instructions in this website:

https://github.com/Aris-t2/CustomCSSforFx/releases

I clicked on custom_css_for_fx_v2.0.5.zip and copied the contents of the folders and files into the ones in my chrome folder, except that I copied only one command from the userChrome.css file that looked like it might relate to my issue. In addition, I copied some script I found elsewhere that made my tab toolbar disappear, since I don't use tabs. My tab toolbar has disappeared as I wanted, but my backward/forward buttons haven't changed at all and still don't show a dropdown history marker. The contents of my userChrome.css file are as follows:

#tabbrowser-tabs {
visibility: collapse !important;
}

/* other button settings ************************************************************************/
/* @import "./css/buttons/forward_button_hide_when_disabled.css"; /**/
@import "./css/buttons/back_and_forward_separated_history_popups.css"; /**/
/* @import "./css/buttons/back_and_forward_leftclick_history_popup_hidden.css"; /**/

Am I doing something wrong in the way I imported the script , or is the script not intended to do what I want? If the latter, are you working on a replacement for the legacy add-on that will be compatible with Firefox Quantum?

FYI, I'm using Windows 7. 64 bit.

Hi, I'm trying to get as much as possible of firefox to use dark theme to save my eyes at night.

I use https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/darkreader/ to customize the sites automatically and it does an excellent job, except that firefox pages can't be customized with it and by that I mean:

about:blank about:newtab about:config about:preferences

for the blank and newtab pages I found three solutions:

1- create a [userContent.css](http://kb.mozillazine.org/UserContent.css) file with the following

@-moz-document url-prefix(about:blank) {*{background-color:#000000;}}

@-moz-document url-prefix(about:newtab) {*{background-color:#000000;}}

2- go to about:config and change

browser.display.background_color to #000000

browser.display.foreground_color to #ffffff

3- Go to "Preferences" and search for "colors" click on the colors button and set the background and text colors to the same colors as in 2.

now I tried all of the solutions above and all of them have side effects, the most prominent and annoying one is flashing white page for a couple of seconds when opening a new tab or white page while the website, other annoyances is that the settings don't apply to about:config and about:preferences even if I add them in userContent.css

-To test the flashing white you only need to open a new tab (while applying my settings above) and you will see it.

-To the white page before the site is loaded you need to open the link from another page(if you open a new tab and then paste the link you won't get the white page since the about:blank or about:newtab will have the dark background)

so to see my problem do the following:

1- go to https://github.com/biesiad/deelay#deelayme

2- right click on deelay.me link and click "open link in a new tab"

the link will be opened in a new tab that has the background in white or grayish color.

How can I solve these problems ? any tip would be appreciated.

Regards

Firefox - Add Colored tabs

I had Firefox version 81 and after installing version 82 in a new install on a new hard drive, I cannot change the color of my tabs anymore. I should see white tabs for the current tab but no longer when I added my userChrome.css file. I see instead a thin blue color strip along the top of the tab and the rest is grey. This shows up without any userChrome.css file.

In Firefox address field type: about:support It shows my Profile. vwy0y5ix.default-release I also have under the Profile folder this: jcueuz5y.default

I put the userChrome.css file here in my Chrome folder: C:\Users\David\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\vwy0y5ix.default-release

I want to combine two customizations in Firefox 60: 1 Move the tabs to below the Address bar and Bookmarks toolbar; and 2. Move the Open Menu (hamburger) button to the left hand side in Firefox 60. Unfortunately, "customize" does not allow one to move the Open Menu button in FF60 (it is greyed out in "Customize"). I can do each of these steps separately with the following CSS customizations in the UserChrome.css file inside my profile, but am not sure how to combine the two together. For 1. the following works: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1185426 For 2. the following works: https://github.com/Timvde/UserChrome-Tweaks/blob/master/hamburger/move-to-top-left-Linux-Windows.css but combining them messes up the position of the Open Menu button - I am not skilled in CSS. Can anyone suggest a CSS that will do both tasks together? Or is there a simpler solution to both that I am missing?

The two CSS respectively are: 1. Move the tabs to below the address bar and bookmarks toolbar: ________________

/* Tab bar below Navigation & Bookmarks Toolbars
  For best results, show Title Bar or Menu Bar */
  #nav-bar { /* main toolbar */
  -moz-box-ordinal-group: 1 !important;
  border-top-width: 0 !important;
   }
    #PersonalToolbar { /* bookmarks toolbar */
   -moz-box-ordinal-group: 2 !important;
   }
   #TabsToolbar { /* tab bar */
 -moz-box-ordinal-group: 3 !important;
   }

________________ 2. Move the Open Menu button to the LHS: ________________

/*
 * Move the hamburger menu to the top left, before the first tab
 *
 * Contributor(s): Alex Vallat
 */

#PanelUI-button {
  -moz-box-ordinal-group: 0;
  border-left: none !important;
  position: absolute;
}

:root[uidensity=compact] #PanelUI-button {
  margin-top: -28px;
}

#PanelUI-button {
  margin-top: -30px;
}

:root[uidensity=touch] #PanelUI-button {
  margin-top: -36px;
}

#TabsToolbar {
  /* Ensure the padding is always present even when maximized */
  padding-inline-start: 40px !important;
}
