Javascript appears not to be working in my FF -- V 98.0.2 (32-bit). Running on Win-7 (last updates before support ended!!) In particular, the comments for Washington Post articles will not display [first detected problem]. After research, no Javascript will output. FF shows enabled, and it remains enabled. It just doesn't seem to work. The Chrome browser on the same Dell laptop works correctly and displays comments. But I prefer FF to Chrome. The fact that Chrome works suggests to me that the issue is with FF. I'm suspecting that version 98 isn't compatible with Win-7...

The problem was not occurring a year ago. Covid restricted my travel and thus use of the laptop. When I refreshed the laptop with the latest antivirus [Norton] and FF, it no longer worked., I don't remember what version of FF I was using back when it worked.. I know Windows hasn't changed, and I ran without Norton or plugins and the problem persisted...

Any suggestions? Any way to restore an old -- over 1 year -- version of FF so I can try that?

PS:: I'm running FF 99.0.1 (64-bit) on a Dell desktop right next to me and the W-7 laptop at the moment. I works fine. No issue with jS or any other FF function.

With this new FF version it's now taking 2+ minutes to load FF. Yes, 2 minutes to load this thing. A problem I didn't have with the previous version. I've read the support forum for this problem and tried everything noted. I've removed and reinstalled FF twice now, restarted the PC multiple times. I have 4GB of memory which is the same PC configuration for this PC for the last 4 yrs. No new programs, no issues with anything else on this PC so this is a FF issue. Note that once FF has loaded it functions fine - no slowness at all.

Nothing helps with loading this FF version. This is disappointing and it's become enough of an issue to find a different browser to work with, which I hate to do but my patience has run the full gambit with the version of FF. And yes Google Chrome, MS Edge and Opera open within a few seconds, which Firefox used to.

Up until about a month ago, I could send files (photos, etc.) to as many people as I wanted to. All of a sudden, I can't send any kind of attachment to multiple contacts. I can send it one contact at a time, but not several. Does anyone have an idea what my problem is? Any help would be appreciated. My friends are saying they miss my jokes and cartoons!

Hi,

I want to setup a number of addons via command line on a completely fresh Firefox ESR installation on Linux (i.e. while Firefox hasn't been opened yet for the first time by the user). To do this, I first need a default profile directory, but the .mozilla folder is missing from the home path when I install Firefox (it is only created when I run the browser for the first time).

So I tried to create a profile immediately after installing FF:

firefox -createprofile default-esr

This creates the .mozilla folder containing a XXXXXXXX.default-esr directory and the profiles.ini file with the following contents:

[Profile0] Name=default-esr IsRelative=1 Path=XXXXXXXX.default-esr

[General] StartWithLastProfile=1 Version=2

However when I run FF for the first time later on, it completely skips this profile and instead generates a new default one, YYYYYYYY.default-esr-1, and profiles.ini is edited with the following contents:

[Profile1] Name=default-esr-1 IsRelative=1 Path=YYYYYYYY.default-esr-1

[Profile0] Name=default-esr IsRelative=1 Path=XXXXXXXX.default-esr Default=1

[General] StartWithLastProfile=1 Version=2

[Install3B6073811A6ABF12] Default=YYYYYYYY.default-esr-1 Locked=1

I can revert to the profile that I explicitly created by going to about:profiles and setting it again as the default, but this defeats the purpose because I want to prepare my profile via the command line without having to open FF to change a setting. Is this possible?

Until recently, I resisted allowing updates for Firefox because of the announcements of changes to prevent access to some technical kinds of website which I use. These include the public websites of the Paris Observatory which include useul informational ftp pages with important text, data and software files.

I did recently allow a Firefox update, and now I find that I am cut off from access to these ftp pages.
How can I re-enable access to ftp? If it can't be done in the new version of Firefox, how can I return to an older Firefox version that does allow such access?

Firefox stopped working on me recently, so I had to close it through Task Manager and then reload all my tabs.

However, istead of Firefox doing this it 'refreshed', now all my tabs are gone, and worse still all my saved passwords.

I rely on Firefox remembering these passwords as I can't, how do I get them back? My life is toast without them.

Please help, I need to talk to someone on how to get them back.

How do I get it off my computer. When I want to print an article from an e mail.I always have to remove it to save an e mail, or when I want to print an article, I read it later, and I see the total ad block on my printed article stuck on the printed page blocking out what I printed. Its very annoying to have to take it off the screen before I print anything. Please help me. George at [removed email from public]
