I am one of the 746,665 users of Chris Pederick's legendary WEB DEVELOPER addon: http://chrispederick.com/work/web-developer/
I'm not quite certain why this happened but at some point I apparently also installed: __________Mark Bokil __________ID: 167804 __________web_developer_toolbar-1.0-fx.xpi
. . . which is truly bizarre given that I haven't (and never will) install an addon that is still in Beta (the icon appearing yellow instead of green). What is important is that Bokil's addon is interferring with a number of my other addons and effectively disabling my user settings.
I have: Looked for this man's addon in my FF Addon tab. Looked for this man's addon in my toolbar customizations. Looked for this man's addon in every single Options tab (including sub-menus). Searched in about:config to see if this man's toolbar shows up anywhere. Emptied my History and browsing cache.
Having rebooted with this man's addon clinging to me like a VIRUS, I: Binary-searched this man's identity hidden in an xpi extension I may have saved to my hard drive. Explored any Addon Suites within which this man's addon might be buried. And finally (and this is the living END) completely uninstalled Grease Monkey.
Friends, I am here to report to Mozilla that this man's code is so perfectly HIDDEN I may have to uninstall Firefox altogether. Please advise me.

There are three accounts on my laptop; mine, my husbands and an Administration account. Yesterday morning, all was well! later in the morning I went back to my laptop account, signed on to Mozilla and discovered that all of my bookmarks were gone. I have tried the Restore feature that Mozilla outline under "Bookmarks, Import & backup" but get a message "Unable to process the backup file". Is it time to go to Gmail??

hello. my problem is related to the question: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1158868https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1158868 i believe that there is a bug in esr version of firefox that causes that i cant open many https website and recieve secure connection failed error. or is there any setting (specific to EsrVersion of firefox that i should change to can open websites? my story as followes. i one day downloaded and used one vpn program, (dont remember openning these specific websites before using vpn when i installed firefox esr version. i cant open many websites that could open previously. for example: www.daumpotplayer.com www.bleepingcomputer.com www.howtogeek.com are just three examples and the numbers are more! i reset my dns settings in network connections and solved the problem temporarily. but the problem came back again after reusing vpn program again and did not solve until now. i uninstalled and reinstalled my firefox several times without any success. using safemode (with fresh profile) as i said: does not work, because (see my previous sentence.) dont suggest any antivirus or antimalware for me, because i dont trust such programs and never use them! so, my problem is not related to interfeering antivirus or antimalware programs and there false positive! i tested google chrome and chrome opened the websites without any problem, so it is firefox issue only. so, i tested the article https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-cant-load-websites-other-browsers-can did not work for me when i changed the network.ssl options which are mentioned in the article.
i tested with several versions of firefox esr and the result was secure connection failed error message. firefox esr 45.9, 52.4, 52.5.2, 52.6 and 52.8, so i am sure that there is a problem in esr versions of firefox that should be fixed, or a unique about:config setting (present only in firefox esr versions, not regular versions) that should be change by user to resolve this issue. i wished and decided that use firefoxEsr 52.8 forever, but if the problem cant be fixed, i should firefox 51 and use it forever without update!
because when i installed firefox 51, could open all the websites without any problem and my firefox now is even faster and more responsive than esr version! i thaught that firefox esr should be more stable, trustworthy and less error! by the way, i use firefox 32bit version on windows xp.

Setting up five new Acer Veriton E430G Windows 7 x64 desktop machines for work, each has been Windows live updated to latest spec as of end of March '14. All were brand new factory pre-installed Windows 7 x64, all have had the same set of software individually installed, Adobe Flash player, Adobe Shockwave, Acrobat Reader, QuickTime, Oracle Java 8x32 and x64, Picasa, 7-Zip, LibreOffice, Skype and of course Firefox 28.0. All have the exact same behaviour in that when the "Welcome to Firefox" first run page displays, it displays in text only with a large grey box "No video with supported format and MIME type found. If you go to Tools\Add-Ons\Get Add-ons, the internal page displays in full text only as well - no graphics, same problem when you load "Plugins" page and click "Check to see if your plugins are up to date", the following page/tab loads as text only.
After taking one of the machines brand new out of box and creating an Acronis snapshot of the entire drive [factory install before first run] using it as a test install, I played around with a number of software / driver / updates / Firefox add-ins scenarios trying to get to the bottom of this. I have come to a dead end in as much as all runs great within Firefox, web pages from all internal pages and many on-line websites render correctly when I load a previous version of Firefox [v26.0 or v25] rather than the latest v28.0 onto each of the machines, I tried v27.01 & v27.0, these gave the same text based pages. This has been replicated successfully on the other four machines with all of the above listed latest software versions installed [no AntiVirus software installed yet as not fully in use in Office yet], change nothing else other than load the latest version v28.0 Firefox and the problem reappears.
I did for the sake of completeness test the brand new factory install just past 'first boot set-up' and first time desktop hello, let everything settle and installed Firefox v28.0, [tested with v27.01 & v27.0] this too exhibits the exact same text only page rendering on internal Firefox pages. Yet again, over install Firefox v26.0, clear history and the same pages start loading correctly.
I am open to suggestions regards a fix for this as I really do not want to leave the machines with old version Firefox installed on each desktop. I would also prefer not to allow each member of staff to install Google Chrome. The on-line web pages that were found to be loading as text only within Firefox 28.0 were tested and rendered correctly within Chrome 33.0.1750.154 and IE 11, this would indicate something to be clashing with Firefox or Firefox not behaving with something else. I would like to get this resolved.

Last sunday (aug-17) appears a program call Baidu in my PC. Baidu says it can clean all adwares and malwares from my laptop for free. I accept and it did, erase all addware and malware and my laptop became faster. However It takes full control of my laptop and my email. Baidu adds apears everytime everywhere. I was reading how to clean it and I have done all the recipes I have found (1 of them erase startup register and have to rehabilite my lap with my windows CD). After 2 or 3 hours baidu reappears and it is allocated in Mozilla registers. I do not know what to do. For the moment I must quit using mozilla and start using Opera. Later I am thinking to move to Android PC or Linux PC. Any idea or solution will be appreciated. Ivan Castilla

2mbps connection firefox download speed is around 80kbps but fdm download manager download speed is around 238kbps
why firefox download speed is low when comparing to others like chrome and free download manager
The same amount of size was downloaded 206kbps in FDM but firefox downloads 60 to 80kbps why
the 62mb file takes 10minute and more time to download the file i think the same as the speed to download the streaming content what do you think about it https://support.cdn.mozilla.net/media/uploads/images/2014-07-17-23-29-21-befa12.png
Adi answered Like this fdm downloads a file from several connections and later it appends all downloaded parts into one file. Therefore, it downloads a file in less time. It is controlled by servers of fdm. On the other hand, when firefox setup is downloaded by its installer ( Stub ) it is downloaded from server of Mozilla Firefox over a single connection, it does not download several parts in parallel or simultaneously. Therefore, it is downloaded at a slower rate. but why firefox doesn't offer this feature but chrome downloads 200kb why and how firefox hanging the border

I signed up for the Firefox/Cisco webcam connection 'Hello'... it activates my Phillips webcam/audio fine. However, when the webcam link is terminated my web cam stays activated; there appears to be no 'off' button to switch the webcam off? Only an idiot would leave a webcam live on there computer with no idea who is watching and or listening the other end. Surely a basic requirement with a webcam activity piece of software is for an 'on' and an 'off' toggle? When such basic requirements such as this is left out... it makes me wonder on the reliability and security standard of the Cisco software. The only way I have found to switch my web cam off after activating 'Hello' is to pull the web cam USB plug and then plug it in again. If this is a 'beta'... then some latitude can be given... but even so, this is bad.

What can I do when firefox says flash player is out of date, so youtube or other websites don't play. My laptop has Windows Vista home premium SP1 and it only is 2 GHZ dual processors- but flash says minimum requirements for new flash updates takes 2.33 or greater GHZ. Can't firefox still play with older versions of flash so computers with this limitation can still play files it used to be able to play? Firefox sometimes asks me to allow outdated flash to play, but sometimes it doesn't ask me that- is the question website dependent?
your computer info below is reporting my desktop info, and my question is related to my laptop.

For many months now, I think since ESR 52.0 update, Firefox is extremely slow. For example, when reading a wikipedia page it takes up to 2 minutes to get the scroll function to respond and move down the page a few lines. Process explorer shows an extremely large number of page faults >7,000, FF gets increasingly slower when I use it more than 10-15 minutes a day and crashes almost every time I close and restart. The crasing threads are all file access operations. From what I observe, there is a similarity to an issue I had 40 years ago when I wrote a multivariance statistics program using matrix calculations. The first few drafts were slow, taking more than 2 days to complete the calculation on a small test database. After careful analysis of the compiler and runtime system, I was able to find the appropriate order for the FOR-NEXT loops such that I minimized the number of disk accesses. The program then finished the calculation on the test database in less than 2 hours. It seems that something similar has occurred in recent revisions of Firefox. I think someone needs to examine the methods for allocating and using computer memory vs. disk memory being used by programmers.

I've been having script errors for some time, and to such an extent that it makes my browser nearly useless. I've used QuickJava only to some success. Anyway, I tried to create a new profile and transfer my bookmarks, and current browser layout, and add-ons to the new profile using information from the forums, here. It seems that all my add-ons were automatically transfered, anyway, but even after manually transfering copied files of bookmark back-ups, none of my bookmarks or browser layout were transfered.
Can someone help me with this?

Firefox is the only platform I use that is incompatible with Twitter. Is there some kind of arrangement whereby Firefox is anti-Twitter? No matter how many times I tell the crash reporter about Firefox slowing and crashing Twitter, the problem is NEVER ever fixed. Just fix it already. I have the latest and supposedly best Firefox release, and yet, surprise, it sucks more than the earlier versions.
How exactly do I get Firefox to let me use Twitter without spending 30 minutes rebooting my computer every time?
Whatever E-Mail I use with Firefox I am unable to attach any files to a message as it will not open a window to show me my folders where I can chose a file.

I live in Warrington, PA, zip code 18976. However, for some reason, Firefox apparently passes to other sites an address for me which is near Bethlehem or Allentown, PA, which are about 50 miles north of where I live. The result is whenever a website I've selected presents a map or directions, it always provides (for example) store locations in the Bethlehem - Allentown area, not in the area where I live. This problem has existed ever since I began using Firefox, at least 3 or 4 years ago. It's getting a little tiresome.
I have tried without success to find where this incorrect address is stored in Firefox, but without success. My ISP is Verizon.
Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks.

When I click on a tab to close it I can see the red X press down but it won't close. I can open a new tab and I can click from tab to tab and the windows change. My mouse is working on every thing else, just can't close any tabs. There are six tabs open. This has been an ongoing.problem that seems to be getting more frequent. I usually do a restart and the problem goes away, but only for a short time. I don't know where to start to fix it. I did notice the automatic updates in windows is turned off. Could that be part of the problem? Should it be turned on? I'm using Windows XP Professional version 5.1.2600 service pack 3. Firefox version 36, just refreshed. Any suggestions?
